New blog template!

In honor of the 4th of July and the 24th of July, I thought I would show my patriotism by adding the stars and stripes to my blog. I know it is a little busy, but I thought it might be fun for the month of July. I truly am so glad to be an American and know that we live in the greatest country in the world.

I am so grateful to all of those serving in the armed forces and their families. Freedom definitely does not come free and I am so grateful for the sacrifices that they make for our freedom.

I LOVE AMERICA!!!!

More Pictures at Lagoon

Josie and Kate had the most fun at Lagoon. They loved going on all of the rides. They really enjoyed having Grandpa and Grandma with us.
Kate and Josie couldn't resist giving their dad a great big kiss at the same time. Kate has been singing "I'm so glad when daddy comes home" since Father's Day, so, of course, it has to end with a great big kiss!!
What a lucky daddy!!
Taylor and Josie had a ball playing in the water fountain. They got soaking wet, but had a blast doing it. It was really hot and I'm sure it felt good to get wet. Brenden wasn't interested in playing in the water and Kate was taking a nap. I'm sure if she had been awake, she would have been right in the middle of it.
I think that Josie was soaked from head to toe. She got wet enough for all of us.

A-Plus Lagoon Day!

On Friday, we went to Lagoon for Steve's work summer party. It was so much fun. Grandpa and Grandma Anderson came with us and we all had a really good time. We went on a lot of fun rides and the kids really enjoyed it alot. It was nice to do something all together as a family.

Josie's Cheerleading Camp!

Last week Josie went to a fun cheerleading camp that was put on by the high school cheerleaders. She had a lot of fun learning some cheers and hanging out with her friends. On Thursday they got to perform for the parents. Josie had so much fun and did a really great job. This picture is with some of her friends that went to the camp with her.

Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day is such a good time to recognize all of the fathers in our lives. I have had some amazing examples of fathers in my life to be grateful for. First, of course, is my own father. Although I cannot see him today to wish him a Happy Father's Day, I know that he is with me always and knows how much I love him and miss him. He was an amazing dad and I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with him.

Another great father in my life, is the father of my own children. My husband, Steve, is an amazing father. I knew that he was going to be that way from the minute that we had Taylor. He is so willing to play with the kids, be involved in their lives and do everything that he can to make their lives better for them. The kids love him so much and they know that he loves them. I hope they realize how blessed they are to have him for their dad!

Another great father in my life is my father-in-law, Joe. He always sets a great example to all of his children and grandchildren. The kids LOVE to see their grandpa. He always takes the time to play with each of them and I know that is why they love him so much. I am grateful to have him in my life, as well. He has been a blessing to me.

So, to all of you fathers out there, I hope that you had a wonderful Father's Day!!

Grandma's 80th Birthday Party!

This week, on June 18th, my Grandma Douglas will be 80 years old. We have been so excited to celebrate this special birthday with her. My Uncle Darrell and Aunt Kathy came out from Indiana yesterday to surprise her, and surprise her they did! I know that she was so happy to see them and didn't have any idea that they were coming. We went to Canyon View Park to have a picnic. The kids had a ton of fun playing with their cousins and the adults really enjoyed visiting and catching up on each other's lives. This first picture is of my grandma as she was opening her presents. She was telling me to not take any pictures of her, but I couldn't resist. She is so sweet and I love her so much. Happy Birthday, Grandma!

My Grandma has always loved reading cards. Whether they be birthday cards, mother's day cards or whatever. She loves to read each word. So I always know when I am picking out a card for her that it has to be the perfect card.

The kids really enjoyed playing in the little stream by our picnic area.

It wouldn't be a Douglas family picnic without a baseball game. We have not kept up on this tradition for the past few years, but as a little girl, I remember going to my Grandpa and Grandma's house for different celebrations, and they ALWAYS ended up in a baseball game. They had an awesome backyard that was perfect for playing baseball. Those are memories that I will always treasure. My kids were so excited to play ball with the entire family. We didn't get EVERYONE to play, but it was still a lot of fun.

We still have more planned to celebrate Grandma's birthday, but I hope that she knows how much I love her and have appreciated having her in my life. I have been so blessed to live close to her for almost my entire life. She has been a wonderful example to me and not only is she my grandma, but she is also my dear friend. When she was so sick last summer and in the hospital, I really did not think there would be any way that she would be able to celebrate her 80th birthday. I know that the last few months have been so difficult for her, but I have treasured each moment that I have shared with her and am so grateful to have her in my life. I love you, Grandma! Happy Birthday!!!
