Suzie Homemaker: Black Bean Burgers
I'm on a roll this week!
Rinse 1 can of black beans.
Make sure to completely dry them after rinsing them, then mash them up in a bowl.
In the meantime, chop 1/2 of a green (bell) pepper, 1/2 of an onion and 3 cloves of garlic. Make sure these are completely dry (well, as dry as you can get them) and finely chop them in your food processer. I only have a blender, so that's what I used.
In a separate bowl, combine 1 egg, 1 Tbsp chili powder, 1 Tbsp cumin and 1tsp hot sauce (Thai chili sauce is recommended; I used hot sauce)
Mix it all together like this
Mix everything together: your mashed beans; your chopped veggies; and your spices.
I thought that by adding the 1/2 cup of bread crumbs to the mix it would help to dry them up a bit so I could get them into a patty. I also sprinkled some bread crumbs onto a plate and slopped some of the mix onto there in patty form. This is the hardest part of the recipe.
Cook at 375*F (190*C) on a lightly oiled baking sheet (I didn't oil mine). Bake on each side for about 10 minutes.
I don't have a grill, but I imagine these would be much better grilled. Try it and let me know. Also, some people have recommended freezing them before grilling them to help keep them together. People have also recommended using cracker crumbs instead of bread crumbs.
Enjoy! (They're really good with a slice of cheese and a few leaves of spinach)

Suzie Homemaker: Brownies
Melt 1/2 cup of butter.
Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of sugar, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
Beat in 1/3 cup of cocoa, 1/2 cup of flour, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder.
Stir ....
Bake for 25 - 30 minutes at 350* F ( 175*C)
To make frosting: combine 3Tbps of butter, 3 Tbps of cocoa, 1 tsp of honey, 1 tsp vanilla and 1 cup of powdered sugar
**I only used 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. I also added a little bit of milk (~1 Tbsp) so it wasn't so dry.
Frost the brownies while they're still warm from the oven.

Little puppers
Yesterday I was at the beach and saw two ladies with their puppies. One was a little lab puppy that, when put down, cried to be picked up again. The other was a husky puppy that, if ever put down, I would have snatched in a heartbeat.
I went over to ask for a picture and saw that they buried the lab and give her some boobs!
She was so content to just lay there like that.
And the husky. What a smooch.

haeundae sand festival
Surprise, surprise. I'm actually really lazy when it comes to checking out festivals in Korea. Even if they're in Busan.
This year, I got off my lazy butt and made it out to the Haeundae Sand Festival. It wasn't anything spectacular. Just a bunch of (well-made) sand scupltures on the most over-rated beach in Busan. There were so many foreigners, I didn't even know I was in Korea anymore.
This year's theme was Fairy Tales:
Jinho & I in front of ... a lighthouse? A part of someone's castle?
A mermaid.
There's a well-known tale in Korea about a hardworking ant and a lazy grasshopper. This is them. I'm obviously the grasshopper.
Frog Prince
Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf
Rapunzel
Alice in Wonderland
Wizard of Oz
Cowardly Lion + my thumb
Crystal & I in front of a mermaid
When we were done wandering around the scupltures, we had some soju + blueberry juice (BlueJu, if you will) and played some card games.
I'm not sure if I would go the sand festival again. Maybe if I happened to be in the area while it was on. But go out of my way to see it? Probably not.

Who's driving?
Sometimes, when I'm on the bus and the bus comes to a light that has just turned red, the driver decides it's time for a cigarette. Or that it's time to jump off and check out the tires. Or that it's time to jump off and talk to a neighboring bus driver who has also abandoned his bus.
How long do you think this bus would stay unmanned in The States?
I'm kind of a big deal.
I've been preparing for open classes so I've been a bit MIA lately.
I definitely have a lot to update on.
But, before I do that, I just wanted to share more of my famousness:

Click on the link above to go to the website. It's front page. Just like a rock star.
They've used this picture so much, I'm tallying my royalties as we speak I type.
