While Driving...

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

While driving home from the grocery store...stopped at an intersection where there are lots of cracks in the road and one medium size pothole...

Natalie: "There sure are lots of cracks in the road right here."

Me: "Yep, there sure are."

Natalie: "I bet God put that hole there so we could see Him!"

Me: "But Natalie, God lives in Heaven...in the sky."

Natalie: "But it is Holy Ground, Mommy!"

Me: "Oh...you're right Natalie. God is everywhere. And yes, we are on Holy ground."

Natalie: "He's up high, and down low, and here and there, and everywhere!"

And then...not ten seconds later....

Natalie: "Mommy, look at all those cows chewing their cud!"

It's a laugh a minute I tell you...a laugh a minute!

Tree of Life

Thursday, April 05, 2007

On the dining room table in our home we have this.

The Tree of Life.

We took a couple of branches and spray painted them silver. We hung easter eggs from the branches...filled with devotions leading up to the Cross and the Resurrection, and each night we read from them; full of God's words. We also colored and hung pictures of butterflies, a reminder to us all of new life. Jesus gave us life. Jesus made new life possible for us. He gave His own life so that we could have LIFE. A LIFE to praise the Lord. A LIFE to sing His praises. A LIFE to chase Him with all of our hearts. A LIFE forever with Him in Heaven! Hallelujah!

I hope this weekend, as you go about your days, you will pause to remember the great sacrifice that was made for YOU! Jesus gave His life on the cross for YOU. His body was broken for YOU. His blood was spilled for YOU. And praise His name, He rose on the third day for YOU, ________ (insert your name here!)! He waits for YOU!

Hallelujah, Christ is Risen!

Growing Up

Sunday, April 01, 2007

Tonight, as I was talking with my four-year-old Natalie on the couch, I expressed to her that I thought she was growing up too fast. She looked at me a bit confused, and then anwered, "No Mommy, I'm not growing fast. I'm growing really slow. See?"

I told her I hoped she would never grow up and move away, and while I know this is not truth, there are moments when I think I could just keep her right where she is forever. I do know that my job as her mommy is to help her grow her own set of wings. To help her learn to love the Lord, and to follow Him with indescribable faithfulness! To prepare her for a life...her life. Anyway...as we were talking, I suggested that she stay little and live with me and daddy forever; and this is where it gets good...

She looked at me with those big brown eyes and said, "No Mommy. I am going to grow up and get married someday, but I will have to find just the right person to marry." Then, "I will need just the right person because I will only get married once, and we will be together forever and ever!"

As I pray for her future, and the man she will someday marry, I pray he is learning that marriage is sacred...a once-in-a-lifetime commitment. A vow, not only to each other, but to God. I pray that they both grow to understand that while there will be hard days in marriage, and sometimes even hard seasons, or hard years, that their commitment to each other will hold true and strong. That God's plan for marriage is worth fighting for, because God is worth fighting for...Amen!
