Doing the next thing

This post touched my soul. After a challenging day...a challenging few weeks actually...it is a strong reminder to me to not get bogged down. I seem to easily feel the weight of the world on my shoulders. When love is hard, and lists are long; when failures come and people disappoint. Sometimes it would be easier to just stay in bed...to cocoon myself and sleep away all of the fear or pain or sadness or disappointment or failure. But that just isn't how it works. There are tasks at hand, work to do. There are smiles to share and people to love.
Read these words and you too will be reminded of the importance to just do the next thing...and find gratitude.
I am thankful for the mountain of dishes, for we are fed.
I am thankful for the never-ending piles of laundry, for we are clothed and living life.
I am thankful for the little dirty hands, for there has been joy in play.
I am thankful for the thousands of questions I am asked each day...a sign they are thinking and growing!
For all these things and more, I am thankful because I am here and able to do them.
So go here...read this...be blessed.
As for me, I am off to do the next thing.

Four

Four years ago today, I wept tears of joy. I looked into the eyes of my baby boy, Levi, for the very first time, and I rejoiced that he was here. He had been born alive, healthy and well. I had spent nine months hoping and praying...looking forward to the day I could hold him in my arms.
Levi turned four today. It has been four years of fun...crazy, messy boy fun!
These last four years began like this...
And then there was this...

We celebrated Levi's first Christmas like this...

And then he grew...

And now he is so big...

Thank you Lord, for my son. I am constantly amazed at the way you sent a tiny baby boy to remind me of your love.
The verse we chose for Levi at His birth still stands true today:
Happy birthday my son...I love you!

The day I feared would never come... the day I would hold my son in my arms...had come. Thank you God for Levi!
