4 month update and some videos

Henry had his 4 month check up today with the pediatrician and is growing like a weed! He measures in at 14 pounds 10 ounces, 26 1/2 inches long, and his head is 16 1/2 inches around. The doctor told us he looked wonderful!
As far as his personality goes, he is into everything right now. He is reaching for anything that is in front of him, he is cooing, laughing, and really interacting with the world. He can sit in his exersaucer (my new babysitter) for a solid 20 mintues and entertain himself which is wonderful for me. He also likes to watch cartoons which is scary, but they catch his attention immediatley. He was actually watching Sports Center this morning in bed with his dad under the covers and it was pretty cute!
Sleeping is another whole issue. We were doing really good for a while there and Henry was sleeping from 11:00-5:00....well we got too excited and then things started going downhill. For about 3-4 weeks he was waking up every 1-3 hours after being fed. Now, we were out of town a lot and that could have been one of the reasons, but he did it at home too, so it may have been a really long growth spurt! Since he was not sleeping, I, of course, called the doctor and she put him on rice cereal. We were so excited because we thought Henry would start sleeping through the night immediately. Well, because we are new parents, we did not know that it takes a baby a while to learn how to eat from a spoon. We started the rice cereal 2 weeks ago, and he is still having a little trouble getting it down and not all over his face. I will try to video a feeding so you can see how funny it is. He has done a little better with sleeping....5-6 hours at a time, but has not been taking good naps during the day.
Needless to say, the doctor told us to continue rice cereal and when he figures out what to do we can start doing rice cereal in the morning then stage 1 baby food....starting with the yellow foods first such as bananas, squash and anything else that is yellow. Then we go to orange, then green. I have no idea why, but that is the order. We will work on this for the next 2 months and report back to the doctor at 6 months. He also told us we could give Henry up to 4 ounces of water now and I have already given him some to get rid of the hiccups and it worked like a charm!
Other than that, there is no other news to report. We love how Henry has started communicating more and laughing at us. He is growing so fast and before we know it he will be one! I am going to try and post some videos of him at the beach and also one of him putting his passy in his mouth. I will update later with more pictures.

Here is Henry "playing" in the waves!

Henry's latest accomplishment. He can put the passy in, but does not know to let it go yet. That is the next step!

Our trip to Virginia Beach

So for our second vacation we went to Virginia Beach to visit my mom's best friend from 9th grade and her family. We have vacationed with them every summer since I was born...I think. We had a fabulous time being with Faith and Paul, their son Jeff, his girlfriend Ginny, my parents, my brother, and Beau. We had a big group and just started where we left off last year with the addition of Henry.
I took about a million pictures this week, so there are a lot of pictures on this post, but I wanted to show how much Henry is growing. We go to the doctor on Thursday for his 4 month check-up and I will update then with all of his stats and also all of his changes. He's a growing boy!!!

He is getting so big and actually fits on Beau's shoulders. It is adorable!

Henry's chillin' on the couch with his teether, chewing his shirt!

Thanks for holding me up Paul!

Me and Papa! I am so happy!

What are these big yellow things? I wonder what they feel like.....

The crew minus me.

This is Keeper, Faith and Pauls new dog. He LOVED Henry. He would lick Henrys face all day if he could. Henry was great with him too. He would just open his little mouth and Keeper would go to town licking his face and slobber....gross!

Uncle Collin is SO cool!

This was our nightly view from Faith and Pauls house. Not bad!

Lets go buddy....

We were off to the pool here. Henry loved it the first time, and did not like it at all the second.

We gave Henry his baths in an actual bathtub and so I had to document his first bathtub experience. He loves a bath!

Our Lake Trip

I am so sorry I have been out of touch with blogging. We have been on a constant vacation for the past 3 weeks and are finally settling back into a routine. The first week we went to Lake Lure, North Carolina with my mom's whole family and it was wonderful. Henry was able to meet all of his great aunts, uncles and his great grandfather for whom he is named. We had a great time and I got some much needed sleep while my parents so willingly took care of the little man. It was also great seeing all of my wonderful cousins and their families again. I can't wait until next year....Galveston!

Talking and Flipping

Henry has really started talking and grabbing for things.  He loves to swat and grab at anything...toys, hair, clothing, blankets.  Here is a short video of him chatting away at his little monkey.  Ignore my voice.....it is awful!

As you can probably tell, this video was taking on July 4, 2009.  Henry is rolling over now all the time.  However, as of right now he only goes from his belly to his back.  He is really trying hard to go from his back to his belly.  When this happens, I am going to have to be on watch constantly!  It is pretty amazing how fast he learns new things!
