One year anniversary

Since I started this blog just over a year ago, I have been watching with much excitement to see when this blog would get it's thousandth visitor. (Why was I excited? Because round numbers are so neat! Food for thought: If people only had 8 fingers, I would have gotten equally worked up about the 512th visitor. Yes, I am a nerd.)

Anyway, so, funny story... The first thing I did when I arrived in St George at my brother's was to see how close the blog was to reaching the 1000th visitor. I was excited to find that the blog at that point had exactly 1000 visitors. Then I was disappointed to realize that I was the 1000th visitor. So I gave myself a prize. Tough luck to all of you. (Actually, since my visits don't count, the prize goes to the next visitor, who was from the University of Iowa. Since there are just too many of you at that address, I'll have to accept the prize on your behalf. But great job!)

Don't forget to scroll down. I've posted new pictures.

I'll try to get more consistent with my posts. (Scroll down for story behind my most excellent excuse for not posting: my computer monitor was stolen!!)

What to do when it is 115 degrees

(I should say that 115 here is better than 104 with humidity in Iowa City. ¡Ay, Caramba!)

It's pretty here

Yeah, I have a thing about lightning.

The view from our front yard

After one night in the house...

We came home from our family reunion to find our house burglarized. (The most common reaction: "In St. George?!?") Someone found his (or their) way into our courtyard (which still doesn't have the gate that is meant to secure it) and realized that they could have their way with our house.
Luckily, we think our security system scared them off, even though it wasn't connected yet. All they got away with were an old TV and an old computer monitor. They left boxes and boxes of more valuable stuff. But worst of all, they broke the windows on two of our brand new beautiful doors. (No, wait, worst of all, in the process of stealing the TV, they broke the TiVo! KHAN!!!!) All in all, a nice welcome to small town Utah.
