Bye Bye Tonsils!

Hannah had her tonsils and adenoids out on Friday. She has had a hard time breathing at night for quite some time. It would start as sleep apnea then eventually turn into really loud snoring. She also talked really nasally. Anyway, we finally decided to do something about it. She was sure a trooper getting ready for the surgery. The anesthesiologist whisked her away in the little car and she didn't even look back. Jeff and I expected to hear screaming when she noticed we weren't there, but we didn't. The surgery was less than 30 minutes. When she woke up she was definitely out of it and just wanted to go home! The first couple of days she slept a lot and was kind of up and down. She seems to be improving each day. Although, I think she has a cold on top of trying to recover. Her voice definitely sounds a little different. It's hard to tell though when she doesn't talk much and when she does it's kind of soft and she has a cold. We already notice much quieter sleeping. We are just ready for Hannah to be back to her cute little self!

Grandma Merrilee has been to visit a few times. She brought new pajamas and the prize Hannah requested, Buzz Lightyear!

Star Student

Jeffrey was the Star Student in his class a couple of weeks ago. We made a fun poster all about him that was on display in his classroom during the week. In the mean time, I also got a note that he was chosen to receive the Principal's Pride award for Citizenship. We were invited to attend a little awards assembly that same week. Unfortunately, the assembly was at 9:00 am. That wasn't going to happen with all of us, so I sent Jeff. Then on Friday, I was invited to come and tell all about Jeffrey and read one of his favorite books to the class. He was sent home with a little book of nice things that everyone said about him, like "He's fun, He doesn't throw chairs, He's nice to everybody in class, He's patient, He's a good friend". His teacher said, "You have awesome manners. You are a good friend to others. You are very thoughtful. You are fun!" We are sure proud of Jeffrey!

9...no 10...almost 11 months old!

It takes me so long to finish these posts that almost 2 months have gone by since I started. My little Baby Gray is now 10 1/2 months old. When I took him in for his 9 month well-child check he weighed 17 lbs. 10 oz. Not quite as much as I had hoped, but still more than Jeffrey did at 9 months. He was in the 70% percentile for his height. I guess he's just growing up instead of out! He started army crawling around 7 months old, but for the past month or so he has been crawling up on his knees. He stands up to everything and gets into everything! He moves along the furniture and has recently started trying to walk with his push toy. He pretty much leaves messes wherever he goes. He pulls all of the dishtowels out of the drawer, all of the tupperware out of the cupboard, all of the pillows off the couch, and unfolds all of our clothes. He loves to "help" me load/unload the dishwasher. I swear he hears that thing open and comes crawling from afar. He's a little monster, but a cute one!

He has almost 6 teeth now, which makes it easier to feed him more stuff. He's a pretty good eater and will try almost anything I give him. He absolutely loves playing with the kids. He crawls around yelling for them in the house. He is lucky because Jeffrey and Hannah are both wonderful siblings. They get him toys and always help me keep him safe. He waves and claps and has been making a lot of new sounds. Although it's been months, I should mention that "ma ma" was his first word. Our other two kids said "da da" first. He's been sleeping a little better, but still wakes up during the night occasionally. Anyway, we just love him to pieces and can't believe he is almost one!

Lost Tooth

Jeffrey lost his first tooth last week. It's been hanging there for awhile, but I think he was a little scared to let us pull too much. Finally, I put some Orajel on his gums and it pretty much fell out before I even touched it. It was definitely ready! He was so excited to show Jeff and he ran outside to show any neighbor that happened to be out there. He just kept saying, I look so cute like this! Love it! We had some hilarious conversations about the tooth fairy. Let's just say, I don't know how long we will be able to keep this up. He already said, "I know the tooth fairy is just your Mom." Why would you think that Jeffrey? "Because I think I would see the blue flashing light and hear her wings. And how would she even get in our house?" Then he was so certain the tooth fairy would bring him a toothbrush. I don't know where he heard that. Not that it's a bad idea, but I never got a tooth brush. We told him that she usually leaves money. I asked him how much money he thought she should leave for his first tooth and he said $100. Whoa, that's a lot of money Jeffrey! Well, not like a bunch of dollars just one that says $100. Oh, okay, in that case...ha! Anyway, he ended up getting $5 and a toothbrush. I think the tooth fairy was a little worried that he would be disappointed if he didn't get a toothbrush. Here's to losing the first of many more teeth!
