My First Bowling Green Playdate

So, last Monday Mason and I hiked up to BG to meet up with Carrie and Colt to go on a playdate. Carrie & Colt were on Spring Break, so she was spending a few days with her parents there. She wanted to introduce me to some of her friends she grew up there and their little ones, plus I wanted to see some familiar faces when we move up there! We had such a fun day. Carrie's friend, Valerie, hosted the play date and then we all went to lunch at Buckhead's. I think that's going to be my new favorite place! They have the 2nd best chicken salad I've ever had (next to the recipe that Carrie rigged up as an imposter to the chicken salad we love from Corner Bakery in Atlanta). It's so comforting to know that when we move Mason and I will already have a sweet little group of friends. And as for Marc, well, he's on his own! Ha ha! Mason was the youngest but was so intrigued by watching all the "big kids" play. Most of them were 2, so that was interesting. :)

After playing & lunch, Carrie and I drove around for a few hours so she could show me different neighborhoods. We found some super cute houses! I drove as Carrie jotted down about 500 different phone numbers of houses for sale or rent. We also visited with Carrie's momma ,Vivian, for a while so she could also give me the scoop on the town of Bowling Green. What a fun-filled day Mommy & Mason had on their little road trip!

I think I like this toy!!
All the kiddos... wait, where's Colt? It looks like they're lined up from youngest to oldest! Look at my sweet boy... old enough to be on a little play date with big kids!! He's growing up WAY too fast!
Mason slowly losing focus...
Come on Mason, let's get outta here!
Attempting a cute picture with our boys... Didn't quite happen!
Oh, this was hilarious. Zoe wanted to get in her crib with Mason so she could jump up and down and bounce him up in the air! Colt saw all the fun going on and wanted to join in.
Zoe is too cute! She's the 2-year old daughter of Valerie. I love them!
Hangin' out with Auntie ViVi (Carrie's mom, Vivian)

Can we please say Marc Jr. & Seth Jr. !??!?!?!?!
Mason & Colt having the biggest conversation

It's so cute that as Mason gets older & older he's able to play and interact with Colt more

Playdate girls at Buckhead's... Carrie & Colt, Tiffany & Miles, Valerie & Zoe, Tonya & Audrey... and of course Mason chillin' in his stroller I had to take a pic of Tiffany cuz she reminds me soooooo much of her sister, Shannon! We were friends with Shannon & Paul when we lived in Louisville because Marc & Paul were in med school together (Paul a year ahead of Marc) and they went to Westport Road with us. We're gonna be reunited with them in Bowling Green! Yay!

Now you can see 'em!!

Okay, I asked the photographer how to post Mason's pics to where you all could actually see them and she helped me figure it out! So, I changed the post below of his 9-month pictures to where you can see the bigger pics. Since there are soooo many I want y'all to see, I'm going to wait and do another post later where I add the rest of the pics. I didn't want to bombard you at first with 500 good ones! :)

I really appreciate your input!!!

Mason's 9-Month Photoshoot

The Pattycake Press strikes again! Once again Melissa Toms did an amazing job capturing the sweet demanor of Mason Thomas! These pictures make me so happy! I went through and narrowed them down, but as you can tell, I have a lot more narrowing down to do. :) So, I need y'all's help! Please let me know which ones are your favorites!

"Hooray for O'Bama!", Mason says...

I've been meaning to post this one forever! On January 20th, Mason and I just hung out at home all day watching the news and stuff to see what was going on with the Presidential Inauguration. I love looking back through my parents' old albums to see pictures of my brother and me that have to do with history and different events going on in the world. One of my fave pics is of my brother watching Jimmy Carter on t.v. I've always wanted to do the same thing with my children! So, if you've been reading my blog for at least several months now, you may have seen the post of Mason watching the 9/11 remembrances. So, of course we've been perching Mason up in front of the t.v. during the coverage of his very first presidential election. Okay, this was HILARIOUS watching his reaction to President O'Bama's speech and the crowd going crazy in Washington, D.C.! I mean, Mason was really getting into it. Even though he had a million toys all around him, he could not keep his eyes off of the t.v. He was staring at O'Bama with the most serious look on his face. Then, whenever the crowd would start cheering, Mason would throw his arms up in the air. I think he must love his new President!! Maybe that's a sign that even those who don't share that love should just give the guy a chance and trust that God will work through him in leading our country! Besides, God is the ultimate authority!

Alright Mom, no more pictures please! Can't you see I'm busy here?

Happy 10-Month Birthday, Mason Thomas!

Well, another month has flown by! It just seems like I close my eyes and when I open them another 11th day of the month has come! Yesterday, March 11th, my baby boy reached his 10th month of life. That is just crazy!!! That means in 2 months he'll be a year old! I don't even wanna think about it! I think the biggest transition has been between the 6 & 9-month mark. He has done soooo many new things these last couple of months. I think he is now officially a "big boy" and no longer a little baby. Yes it makes me sad, but it also makes me realized how blessed we are to have this amazing little baby who is so healthy and is growing like he should. Mason just loves life so much and brings us sooo much sunshine, even in this crazy cold Nashville March weather! :) Here are some things he is doing now at 10 months old:

- He took off crawling on Monday, February 2nd and has not stopped since! My, how my life has changed! He is into everything and is all over our living room! It's time to childproof, but we keep putting it off.
- pulling up - I bought him a couple of "big boy" toys at these consignment sales I've been stalking and he's using them to pull up on.
- every now and then, pulling to stand in his crib - we'll go in there and he'll be standing up peeping through the slats of the crib playing "peek-a-boo".. it's the cutest thing ever! We lowered the crib mattress for the first time on Valentine's Day.
- eating Stage 2 & 3 baby food of veggies, fruits, and meats twice a day
- only nursing about 4 times a day now... okay, I don't even want to talk about this! It'll make me cry!
- drinking water from his sippy cup all on his own!
- picking up Parents' Choice (Wal-Mart brand) Little Puffs with his thumb & first finger and feeding himself
- looking for dropped objects and picking them up
- picking up his little basketball and putting it in the hoop (one of his new big boy toys!)
- laughing CONSTANTLY
- still just saying "da-da"... no other syllables (was saying "ba-ba" but haven't heard that one in a while), but he does jibber jabber a bunch of randomness all day long
- still sleeping all night long, from 10 pm to 7 am, I know, I know, we're spoiling him rotten by letting him stay up with us late at night! :) that's okay, though, he won't get to do this forever, so we're taking advantage of it! he's been sleeping like this since 8 weeks old
- 2 naps a day, about 2 to 3 hours each... but, every time I put him down for a nap now he fusses for a bit before he falls asleep. he just has more energy now so he is wanting to be with us all the time; doesn't wanna miss a thing!
- Okay, you're not gonna believe this one... even though he says just one syllable, he has busted out a couple of times and said a word! I'm not even kidding! We have a few witnesses. A few months ago he came out with the word "bread" when Marc and I were having a discussion about what we were going to fix for dinner. And during his 9-month photoshoot a couple of weeks ago, I was holding up his little Rudolph and singing "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and he busted out with the word "reindeer"! Melissa Toms, please back me up on this one! :) It was clear as day!

Okie dokie, just wanted to give you all an update on what's been going on around here! It's becoming more and more challenging being a mommy (usually new moms may say the opposite). When Mason was a newborn it was pretty easy since he's been a wonderful sleeper and not ever really fussy, but now that he's crawling he is like having a little Jody in the house! My mom always says how much of a handful my brother was, and now I get to experience that for myself! :) I have to always be on my toes and cannot get my eyes off of Mason for even a second. I wouldn't trade a second of it though! :)

Having fun with his octopus that talks in different languages... sitting on his Grandy C's lap! He thought it was hilarious this one night when we would drop it on the floor all drastically and then pick it up.

He looks like a doggie here!

We love Nana K & Poppa Jack! (my parents)
