Pre-February Cuteness
Using my cricut to cut out freezer paper stencils, the kids had fun creating original Valentine's Day t-shirt to wear. The most trouble we had was getting the red fabric paint to show up on the black t-shirts. I imagine that a lighter color t-shirt would work much better with the red paint but they still turned out pretty cute and fun!

Our buddy Tiger also made one but took it home before I got a picture, his said, "Love Machine" and had a robot.

Which means Maglet was able to be baptized!
Here she is with her Dad
Here are all the friends and family who came to be with Maglet on her special day with many more wishing they could be there. We missed you!

Tales from the Crypt
Here is the exciting thing that has been happening at our house this fall. We have been finishing our basement. Kat and Carl will have bedrooms downstairs and are excited to move in. We are delaying in hopes that final paint touch-ups will happen before we do the official move. Here in chronological order are a few pictures to see the process.
framing and insulation
drywall delivery (I thought the truck with the go-go gadget arm was amazing, the workers were thinking I was crazy to be so mesmerized)
drywall installed and mudded, ceiling textured
sideways shot of tile in bathroom
window seats with storage for game playing area
doors--looking back toward the bathroom and Kat's bedroom
Kat's room (painted and carpeted)
Carl's room is hard to photograph and have it look like anything without furniture in there so I'll post pictures of it later.
Game area painted and carpeted
couch with cutest pillows...soon to come an orange chair and a half for Eddie and love sacs for the kiddos
Eddie's pride and joy, the downstairs tv
finished bathroom (I have 2 mirrors but the lights were just installed yesterday so I just leaned one on the counter just so you could see, the tub is still filled with construction material and is a plain white tub/shower)
That's it folks. Hope you enjoyed the tour and now we have a guest bedroom for when you come to visit, hopefully it will be soon!

Beijing
**Until this notice is gone, I will be updating and adding to this post...just an fyi

Here we all are in the middle of the Forbidden City. After this picture was taken, we had 3-4 people come up and ask to have their picture taken with us...they loved Maglet's hair! While Jeff was buying our tickets to get inside, a lady came over, asked if she could have a picture taken with Maglet and then proceeded to pick her up and hug her tightly. Poor Maglet didn't feel very comfortable with that and decided to put her hat back on.

Jeff and I at the old Night Market (they instituted a "cleaned up" version for the Olympic Games...pictured below with just Delise).
"Cleaned up" Night Market in Beijing. This is where all the pictures from the collage above were taken but the same things were served in the older section too.

Below is Delise's cousin Kevin eating some scorpion! He ate a total of 3 and on the last one, the stinger got stuck in his throat...he felt a little "off" for the rest of the night.

The Summer Palace
The Summer Palace was a temporary home for the Royal Family during the Qing Dynasty. It was more of a place for the Empress. It houses the Long Walk which is pictured in the collage on the left side. The tops of the ceiling are lined with these beautiful paintings I put one above and below the photo of the Long Walk as examples. The long walk is 728 meters long and is comprised of 14,000 of these paintings. It was unimaginably beautiful. Also of note the symbol for the Emperor was the dragon while the symbol for the Empress was the phoenix.
