Thomas Karl Christensen

Hey everyone so we had a baby February 22 at exactly 12:38 pm and he was 7.11 lbs and 19 3/4 inches.  I know most people would write the birth story and give you literally all the juicy details, but I'll forgo that so if you want to know give me a call and we'll talk all about it.  Also, I'm really tired and can't think especially clearly so I'll let the pictures do the writing before I say something that makes no sense.

Welcome aboard baby!  Origins of the name.  Thomas-I really like that name and Todd agreed.  Karl-The birth certificate worker gave us the form and told us she'll be back in 15 minutes to pick it up.  I told Todd I was going to shower and to think of a middle name. He called Dave for a man conference (manfrence?). Karl was the consensus. Christensen- One day he'll be a viking god.

I'm really lucky to have both my mom and sister here to help out.  I know Soren is even happier because they both cater to his every demand and junk food craving.

Soren and Tommy meet for the first time. . . I think it went well?

Even after we brought Tommy home, Soren still needed some space.

So dramatic.

Coming home after two nights of sleeping on a hospital bed that randomly inflated and deflated.  I would almost label that as the worst part of my hospital  stay if it wasn't for the five straight hours nausea (moving bed did not help!).

Yay for having another baby.  We are all excited to have Thomas home (well 2/3 is good enough) and are excited to watch him grow and learn mischievous behaviors from his older brother!

Happy Valentine's Day

This was probably one of the best Valentine's day we've had since Todd and I have been together.  It all started the day before when a sketchy rusty dodge caravan tailgated me all the way home.  As we parked our car in the garage, the van pulled up in the driveway behind us.  A man stepped out, called me by name and said he had something for me in the van.  I think I should have hesitated a little more than I did but I went to the van anyways and he handed me a vase full of roses from Todd.  Lesson learned from this-I'm as easy as a 5 year old to lure to a random van as long as there's "something" for me in it.

On valentine's day we started by attending the mother's group party where Soren colored some paper hearts and then tried to color on the relief society chalk board.  I don't blame him, it's a bigger canvas for such an aspiring artist.

The photo booth was the most entertaining part of the party.  I had to keep Soren from photo bombing everyone else's pictures.

Soren and his friend Max.

Soren's photo shoot.  It didn't start off very strong but all that matters is we got one good picture.

Soren and his best friend Kaylee.  It doesn't look like they're friends here but he prefers her over me at the moment and considering I can hardly move I'm ok with that!
Enjoying a Reese's heart before bed.
Later that night I volunteered Kaylee to watch Soren and our friends' three kids so we could all go out to eat and then attend Valentine's day church dance.  The dance was so entertaining and ranged from ages 21 to what looked like 90.  I wasn't much into dancing, but don't worry Todd was lucky enough to be dragged onto the dance floor but a slightly-older-than-middle-aged woman who really wanted him to dance.  I was actually relieved because then I could go sit down and watch Todd uncomfortably dance.  I think Todd thought he was dancing by himself, but I'm pretty sure she thought Todd was dancing with her-either way it was good entertainment!  Best Valentine's day ever!

February kickoff

The month of January has been a snooze-nothing much going on for anyone in our family.  However, February has been keeping us busy and it's only a few days into the month!  This past weekend we had a baby shower, celebrated mardis gras, painted bedrooms and dressers and of course the super bowl.

The baby shower was a lot of fun, I asked everyone for diapers and wipes and that's exactly what I got so good job friends.  I recently realized how much two boxes of diapers cost and wish Soren would now potty train himself, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

We were invited to a Mardis Gras party at some friends' house with delicious food.  Soren ran around chasing the dog and eating king cake people left on the coffee tables.  As he went around the house people kept giving Soren beads and he loves them.  Hopefully this is no indication of his future party lifestyle.

No pants, a fast car and some party beads-bring on age 2!
Soren had his second hair cut today.  Our friend cuts hair at a retirement home and has her own little shop so I took Soren in and  he did such a great job. Afterward his hairdresser, Amy, took Soren to the dining area where some of her elderly friends were eating lunch.  I've never seen him work a room so well.  He gave high fives, waves, some jokes and even a few winks to the aging crowd.  I thought he was going to slap one lady's hand right of her wrist-she had a million bracelets and Soren loved the sound of them clinking after each high five.

Here's Soren receiving his pep talk.

Doing a little early cleaning and brushing curls off the chair.
Learning to style his own hair.

Yay-now his hair smells like coconut and best of all no afro!

So far it's been a busy and fun week and I only expect it to get busier through out February with the baby and all our family coming into town.  We're still taking suggestions for names, so if you have any good ones pass them along!
