Christmas Swap 2009

I have a close group of friends from high school and we love to find any reason to get together. We decided this year we wanted to begin a Christmas Swap so everyone was to bring a Christmas platter to play dirty Santa and an appetizer. With everyones busy Christmas schedule we had to plan it after Christmas which worked out great! I got my platter 1/2 off a few days after Christmas and it was so cute and much nicer than one I would have bought before Christmas for full price because we put a price limit on the platters. Needless to say, we had a blast and dirty Santa got pretty dirty {poor Nikki}! I ended up with a platter that I really wanted that I can use year round by just changing out the ribbon.

Here, There, Everywhere...Christmas recap

Sorry for the lack of post lately. Mommy has been very busy putting away Christmas gifts and cleaning this nasty house. Then I came down with a stomach virus but I am feeling much better now. So here's how our Christmas went.

Every year on Christmas Eve, we have lunch and dirty santa with the Waldrop's at Granny's. AR did not get a nap in before so I was a little worried that she would be whinny and clingy. It took her about 30 minutes to warm up to everyone but she ended up having a great time playing with her cousins and all of those Aunts.
P1010582
The food was yummy as always and dirty santa was of course hilarious. I think Heath and I ended up with a movie we have never heard of and a drill! ha!
P1010587
AR got a baby doll with all its necessities {pack n play, stroller, and car seat} and a couple of adorable dresses.

We left Granny's around 4:00 and went straight to Nana's and Poppa Bruce's for dinner and presents. I must say that they went WAY over board this year not just on AR but with us as well. When we walked in, a new leather recliner was sitting pretty waiting for us to ooh and aah over. Daddy has been wanting a recliner for a while now so needless to say we were all very excited. AR couldn't help but notice this hot pink jeep with her name written all over it.
DSC00023
The first thing she did when she walked in the door was hop in her new jeep. After we stuffed our faces it was time for presents. I was really excited this year because AR can now open her gifts for the most part by herself.
DSC00035
Every gift she opened she wanted to either play with or sit on so it took her awhile. Mommy ended up opening the last few gifts because she had too many items to play with by that point. We all got more gifts than I could ever name but here are just a few. AR racked up with a jeep, a Walmart buggy and groceries, clothes, and a baby doll and bottle.

Daddy of course got his recliner, a range finder, and Alabama shirts for the big game. I got a pair a rain boots that I have been wanting forever, a pretty ring and shirt, photo albums and so much more. Ohh..and did I mention our grills! They were candy! ha!
DSC00044
All I can say is we're ROTTEN!! We didn't get home from Nana's until 10:00 and thankfully AR fell asleep on the way home. Luckily, Santa was smart this year and stuffed stockings and wrapped gifts before we left for Granny's so Mommy and Daddy and Baby were all in bed by 10:30.

I was so excited about Christmas morning. I woke up a few times during the night looking at the clock to see if it was time to get up. I must have gotten really comfortable because I went back to sleep around 1:00 and didn't wake up until 7:00. I ended up waking AR up at 7:30 because we were suppose to be at our next location by 9:00. AR obviously does not understand the whole Santa thing yet and was not very happy with us for waking her up. I figured a few minutes in Daddy's recliner watching cartoons with a cup of milk would cheer her up, and it did. When we thought she might be somewhat cheerful we turned cartoons off to do stockings.
DSC00050
{I did not attempt brushing the hair or a bow at this point for pictures..all I can say is ILL PILL}
AR's stocking contained exactly was she needed: sippy cups, plug covers {because we think stinking our fingers in plugs is fun now}, small hair rubber bands for pony tails, and a photo album just for babies so she can't ruin the pictures. She opened up her photo album to the first picture which is of Alston and smiled real big and kissed it. I think it's her favorite gift!! Then we did presents. Santa didn't go all out this year. We decided next year we might do a little more but she is still too young to understand.

She got a Little People Farm, a vacuum, a new pair of white Keds and a new pair of Pink Converse {so cute}, new jeans with an adjustable waisteband {so needed}, and a book {I think that is all}. Mommy got a new camera and Daddy got a handheld GPS and a gun case!! I attempted to get a picture with AR and all of her goodies but 3 takes and this is all I got....

ha!
We layed around and played with our new toys for a little while and then it was time to get ready and head to Pop's and JiJi's for breakfast and gifts. AR still wasn't in the best of moods so I changed her diaper and left her in her jammies...for the whole day. Memaw made her the cutest dress to wear Christmas day but when your in a bad mood you just don't feel like wearing a dress and leggings. So jammies it was!

When we got to Pop's and JiJi's, Uncle Joe was anxiously awaiting our arrival. Of course we were the last ones to arrive but we were oh so excited to see Uncle Stephen and Amber, Auntie Sarah and Eric and of course Pops and JiJi. We opened gifts first because thats what we always do and then we ate a yummy breakfast. AR got the pink Mega Blocks that come in the pink wagon and a donation to her college fund and Daddy and I got a gift certificate for a new mattress!!

After eating and playing with Uncle Joe's new toys, we left Pop's and JiJi's around 12 to head to Aunt Dale's for lunch and dirty santa.

When we got to Aunt Dale's, Daddy realized the boys got guitar hero.
2009 2
Needless to say, Daddy now wants guitar hero. AR had fun playing with Emma Beth but was not very merry. She fell asleep on the way there but woke up as soon as we got her out of the car.

We had fun playing dirty santa! This family is such a hoot!
2009
AR of course got more dolls. It felt like I opened 50 baby dolls this Christmas and she loves them all...A little side note... AR refused to give her babies the bottle. Instead, she sucks on them herself. Isn't that funny? This is coming from a child who had no problems giving up the bottle. So I taught her how to give the baby a bottle and now she will give them a bottle but she will only put the bottom of the bottle to its mouth, not the nipple.. crazy child!! Anyway..
We couldn't stay long because we had to make our last stop for the day at Memaw's.

Since my mom lives in Georgia, we decided to do a Christmas dinner at Memaw's with Memaw and Mike, Mimi (my mom) and Poppa Stan, Uncle Marcus, Aunt Missy, and Buddy and Eden. Uncle Stephen and Auntie Sarah come over also. We had a yummy lasagna dinner before we opened gifts. AR was so over opening gifts at this point and really wanted nothing to do with any of it and therefore I didn't make her. Since we recieved from 3 different families, it's hard to remember who got us what at this point but some things I remember were Daddy got gift certificates and a Daniel Moore print, I got a sewing machine that I am exstactic about, a cute tote for school, and a few other cute things, and AR got a Cabbage Patch doll, baby jewelry, and more! We stuck around for desert and small talk with the family until AR and Daddy were done!
{I can't believe I didn't get any pictures from Memaw's. My little sister was in charge of taking pictures with my mom's camera so hopefully she can email me some.. We did get a big family picture which we have never done so I am very anxious to see that!I will update as soon as I recieve it!!!}
We were exhausted by the time we got home Christmas night. AR fell asleep on the way home and stayed sound asleep when we brought her in. I love spending time our my families during the holidays! We do have a lot of places we have to go during Christmas and eventually we will probably have to cut back but spending time with family that we don't get to see very often is well worth the exhaustion.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Who??

It's Santa Clause!

Last Saturday, Heath and I took Ava Reese to the Summit to see Santa. I was so nervous about how she would act. I just didn't want her to get upset and cry over Santa because it's suppose to be a happy time. We decided to let Heath take her up to him because she usually acts overly dramatic with me. As they stood beside his sleigh waiting on their turn, AR seemed very interested in climbing in. Miss Piggy had her eye on the Bud's Best Cookies Santa was giving away and could care less about the jolly stranger starring at her. So Daddy lifted her over and plopped her in Santa's lap and the look on her face is priceless. Yes, I would have rather had a picture of a smiling baby we got...

CONFUSION!
She looked at us, then she slowly look up at Santa, then she looked back at us and gave us this....um... crooked smile! We walked away with a picture we laugh at everytime we look and a bag of Bud's Best Cookies! I have to say that Santa picture #2 was a succes! Here is Santa picture #1!

Ornament for 2009

Every year, I order a family ornament for our tree!

P1010580

I really wanted to find an ornament that had a pregnant "Mommy" but most of the ones I found didn't have a "sibling" on it. I was thrilled when I finally found this one! It's my favorite one we've had made so far!

Merry Christmas!

Winter One-derland

P1010523

Our friend, baby Jaylen, had her one year old birthday party this weekend! The theme of her party was Winter One-derland so everything was decorated in white and blue. We made Christmas ornaments, popped bubbles, and ate a whole bunch of yummy junk {white doughnuts, white chocolate covered pretzels, and cake}. We had lots of fun!

8 weeks...

8 weeks
There is a little something there!
Little Peanut,
I have been so excited to see my belly growing because with that means you are growing. With your big sister I had a baby belly at 9 weeks so I figured I would start showing pretty early with you as well. So how is Mommy feeling at 8 weeks?? No more nausea and I am hoping nothing else comes of it. I am still very tired all of the time. It doesn't matter if I get 7 hours of sleep or 10 hours of sleep, I am still exhausted all the time. I have been able to eat a bigger variety of things but salads are still our top choice. Daddy and I have pretty much chosen and settled on your name but there is no guarantee it won't change! We are probably going to wait until we know your gender before we spill the beans, though! Daddy is pretty sure you are going to be a girl but Mommy has that "feeling" you are a boy. Neither one of us care either way, as long as your healthy and strong!! Hang on tight and enjoy the ride because you have a big sister who will keep us constantly a movin' and a shakin'!

Heath Bars, Reese's Cups, and ??

As I happily approach my 8th week of pregnancy, Daddy and I of course have been discussing names. We pretty much have the boy named nailed and have had it picked out well before we got pregnant with Ava Reese. The girl name, however, has been a little difficult. Ava Reese was easy to name. It's a name I picked out while we were dating and Heath fell in love with it as soon as I shared it with him. So before we were married we knew what we would name our children if we had 1 girl and 1 boy. What if we have 2 girls? Ha!
Thinking that we will probably be blessed with a house full of girls, I have been thinking about different girl names for a while now. The girl name that I ABSOLUTELY love is taking Daddy a little longer to get use to. Actually, when I mentioned it to him months ago he quickly said NO but when I mentioned it again after we found out we were actually pregnant he considered!!! I really think {hope} that once the name grows on him, he will absolutely love it as well! {he better!! ha!}. With that being said, neither name we have considered have anything to do with candy. I love my blog name and I do not want to change it. I will adjust it to fit our growing family but I don't want to go in a completely different direction. So I need help. I was thinking since the baby will be the "bite size" one of the family, I could go along with bite size or something to do with small candy/chocolate. We have also been calling our little one "little peanut" because that's what the ultrasound picture looked like. So what do you think. Any ideas?? I am struggling, too. I do have 8 months or so to decide but if any of my creative blogging friends have any suggestions let me know.
Hmmm???
I don't know..

Bouncing Off the Walls

Tonight was the SEC Championship game between Alabama and Florida. My whole family as well has Heath's family are big Alabama fans {except for those wierd step family members who happen to be Auburn fans...ha!}! Having a baby doesn't really allow much tv watching for me and therefore I haven't really sat down and watched a game to its entirety all season. However, tonight was a game that I did not want to miss. Over Thanksgiving break, I was able to catch most of the Alabama/Auburn game and after seeing how much Alabama struggled throughout the game I was very nervous about this game. I was not about to be a cocky Alabama fan who just knew Alabama was going to win because I really did not think they would. To my surprise, Alabama played the best football I have seen them play in years. It was an absolutely amazing game and I am proud to say that we are the 2009 SEC champs! Roll Tide!!
FF_398621ALT2_l
Before the game, I put Ava Reese down for a nap which was around 3:00 and she did not wake up until after 7:00. I could not believe she slept through the entire football game. She is usually the reason I don't get to watch the games so a rare 4 hour nap was just what Mommy needed.
Speaking of Ava Reese, she has become a little dare devil.
P1010506
{Here we are trying to climb on top of storage boxes...}
She has developed a love for climbing after she realized how easy it was for her to climb on and off the couch. Today, she climbed on the couch as I was loading the dishwasher. When I found her she was running back and forth from one said to the other, bouncing off the arms of the couch. Before I could get to her to get her off the couch, she bounced off the big couch pillow and did a head dive to the floor. It was one of those moments when I honestly thought that she broke her neck. After a quick wimper, she ran over to her tricycle to stand up on the seat of it. I knew then she was fine. She has been bouncing off the walls like a mad woman lately!
One thing that has shocked me is the fact that she has not messed with the Christmas tree. I have heard stories where people have had to put baby gates around the tree or not put any ornaments on the bottom. We have not had a problem at all. Every once in a while she will go point to an ornament and maybe swing one back and forth but she doesn't try to take them off or pull on the tree...thank goodness!

It's A Baby

Yes! Miss Ava Reese is going to be a big sister before she reaches the age of 2! Here is our first picture of baby Waldrop. My first doctor's appointment and ultrasound were yesterday so I was very excited to come away with this picture of our little peanut {which is actually how big he/she is at the moment}. We were able to hear a strong heartbeat but he/she is so small so this is the best picture we got. I am exactly 7 weeks today so we are due July 23. With Ava Reese I had an emergency c-section and therefore I have decided to go ahead and schedule a c-section with this little one. I have the option of delivering vaginally but felt the risk was too high for my comfort. Therefore, we will be holding our little bundle of joy around July 15th {My mom's birthday}!!

Baby Waldrop 7 wks

As far as pregnancy goes, I have been a lot more fatigued and nauseous than I ever was with Ava Reese. I have no energy which means bed time has been around 7:00. I am also very picky about what I want to eat. I haven't really wanted any kind of meat or a real heavy meal. I have actually CRAVED cold, juicy salads covered with ranch dressing! YUM! With Ava Reese I felt completely different. I felt great with her {other than being a little tired} and I could eat anything. I loved greasy, salty, fatty food and could eat fast food every meal. I have heard every pregnancy is different and boy has it been so far!

..and yes, this one was planned for for all of you who have asked. I really did not want to have to take a full maternity leave from work so we were aiming to have a baby in the summer. We had the option of trying now or waiting a year and waiting a year just sounded too far away for us! It happened a little later than I wanted it to but we will still get a summer baby!! I still might have to take a week or so off but we will see as the time gets closer! I will keep everyone updated and might try to work up enough energy to do weekly belly post!

Happy Holidays!

Thanksgiving in the Mountains

My family decided that for Thanksgiving this year we would all drive up to my mom's home in north Georgia. I was so excited to have the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving in the mountains. The view was gorgeous, the weather was cold, and the food was fabulous. It was a perfect Thanksgiving.
