BRW

One of my best friends, Allison, delivered a precious 7 lb 10 oz baby girl at 2:16 Thursday afternoon. I am so excited for Chase and Allison and very thankful that Allison had a pretty easy labor and delivery. Here are a few pictures from our visit to meet Brantley Rae!! AR didn't make the visit because she is still sick. I got a phone call at work letting me know how bad she felt so I took half a day off so I could take her to the doctor. We were given a decongestant and an antibiotic so hopefully we can kick the mess it the butt! Afraid she might still be contagious, I dropped her off with Pop's and JiJi.
Such a beautiful family...The Williamson's
When one of our friends has a baby, my sweet friend, Ashley, brings them a cookie cake. We got one when AR was born :)
FEET!!
Brantley Rae with the girls!
Me with Brantley Rae. She got really fussy right before I held her so I sat down in the rocking chair to rock her. It put her right to sleep. She either really loves her Aunt Ashley or she is going to love to rock!

When It's Raining on Sunday

Well this crazy mother/daughter team didn't "hide under the covers all afternoon" as the Keith Urban song says. In fact, I chose today to go grocery shopping and to visit Memaw and then Pops. I guess I should have watched the weather when planning our weekend. We survived out in the monsoon :)

So I'm thinking the rained caused this cutie to go a little coo coo today. This morning as I was trying to get everything ready to get out the door, she grabbed a corn cob out of the trash can and began chewing and sucking on it. I wish someone could have seen my face. I mean, eeeew! After that, she followed me around sticking random objects in my rain boots that were on my feet. I had to stop several times to empty them. It was funny but my goodness she can be weird! ha!

On another note, I made two discoveries today.

1. The new Lady Antebellum cd comes out Tuesday, January 26. I am so excited. I really wanted their new cd for Christmas but Daddy informed me that it wasn't coming out until the end of January. So FYI, if you like them as much as I do, their cd will be out soon!

2. Target brand diapers (or Up & up..or whatever they are called) are awesome! I have never bought them before but decided to try them since I did my grocery shopping there today! I highly recommend them if Target is convenient for you, it's not at all for me.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I will be taking Stinker to the doctor sometime tomorrow! Have a great week!

Yogurt, Jelly Toast, and Mega Blocks Saturday

AR still isn't feeling any better and in fact slept until 10:00 this morning. I also am under the weather with what seems to be a head cold. Therefore, both of us stayed in our jammies all day. While I was fixing AR her waffle this morning, I caught her doing this... She has become OBSESSED with yogurt and she realized I had some left from my breakfast. She is so funny. Other than yogurt, I have had a hard time getting her to eat because she hasn't felt well. She didn't eat much of her waffle so I decided to let her try my breakfast since it was something she had never eaten before...jelly toast. As you can tell her eyes lit up when she tasted it. She ate a whole piece and "mmmmmm..ed" the whole time. The child loves food. She had several come aparts through out the day so I decided to pull out a Christmas toy that I had put away for moments and days like this...MEGA BLOCKS!! She loved them. After she got bored of playing with them we worked on sorting the Mega Blocks in a bag and the wooden blocks in another bag. She did pretty well. We have also been working on cleaning up our messes. She is so destructive and I try to get her to use the energy she has destroying things to also clean them up. We're still working on that..ha!

14 weeks and a stolen idea

So I have stolen an idea from a friend of mine for a few months and then I will probably steal another idea from another friend of mine and hopefully neither one will be mad.. ;) Since I am stealing her idea, the least I can do is brag about her...right? Anyway, my friend Kristin over at The Little Princess Diaries is expecting baby Sophie in a few months and has been documenting her pregnancy with the most creative belly posts. Since I found out I was pregnant I have been wanting to do something very similar but haven't really felt up to taking the amount of time it takes to do it. Even though I have stolen this brilliant idea, I don't have many of the luxuries Kristin has, such as: her creative mind, a sister who is an amazing professional photographer with a studio {in fact, I don't even have a photographer since Heath has left for Texas. My photographer is the timer on my camera...ha!}, or a program to wipe away blemishes, a chubby neck, or a dried, chapped chin {yes, it's awful}. All I have is a picture with a white background and basic Picnic to add the text :) However, I think my version turned out pretty cute and hopefully I will continue weekly belly posts this way until I start on the nursery and then I will probably steal Allison's idea of doing the belly post in front of the progressing nursery (I think that was a run on sentence..ha!). When I start doing that I will brag about her belly posts :) Speaking of Allison, her little Brantley Rae will be here shortly and I continue to pray for patience and a wonderful/safe delivery as the big day quickly approaches for the parents-to-be.

Bronchiolitis

Daddy had to take AR to the doctor Tuesday morning because she has had an on going congestive cough for over a week which preceded by a fever and runny nose over the weekend. The doctor told him she has bronchiolitis and ended up giving her a breathing treatment. He was told to let it run its course but to bring her back if she gets worse, develops an ear infection, or a long list of other reasons. Today she started showing signs of an ear infection but we are going to try to wait it out this weekend and see if a lot of rest along with the help of the humidifier makes us feel better. I sure do hope so.

Here AR is chillin in her pack n play watching tv. I was an awful Mommy months ago and got AR out of the habit of sleeping in her bed when Heath would work out of town. Now we have a child who refuses to sleep in her crib. Last week, Daddy broke out the pack and play and worked hard at getting her to at least sleep in that until we are ready to convert her crib {which I will do this weekend or next week}. She absolutely loves it. She will even lay down in it and go to sleep on her own. She has never done that :) Hopefully I will have just as much success putting her in a toddler bed when I actually do convert her crib. At least we are making progress. I will definitely not make this mistake with our little peanut. He/she will go in the crib from the very beginning :) Speaking of our little peanut, tomorrow I will be 14 weeks. I forgot to do a belly post last week so I will share an ultrasound picture from last week to make up for it and try to do a 14 week belly picture as well. No promises..By the time I get home from work the last thing I want to do is have my picture made.. but I will try to remember :) Yay for 14 weeks.. moving right along!!

12 weeks

Today I am 12 weeks!

The past few weeks have not been the best but I am happy to say that at 12 weeks, life is brighter!

Here's the belly at 12 weeks. There is definitely something there, however, I think this picture makes me look bigger than I really am. Those who have seen me lately, am I really showing this much?? Be honest!! Maybe it's because I had just eaten a big dinner before or may I just don't realize how much I am showing but I really don't think I am showing this much... ha! Anyway, it's amazing how much my body has changed in 12 weeks...not just the belly.

On Wednesday I had my monthly check up which I was very anxious about. Dr. S planned to just check the baby's heart beat with the hand held monitor and warned me that since the baby was still so small at this point, it would probably take him a minute to find the heart beat. After about 3 minutes of searching and pushing and adjusting, Dr. S swore to me he heard the baby's heart beat but the baby was moving too quickly for him to point it out to me. However, I let him know very quickly {and he knew without me even having to say anything} that a swear and promise was not good enough for me and there was no way he was sending me back to work without a better confirmation. Therefore, I was sent to ultrasound for a double check and reassurance. Within seconds, our sweet baby was on the screen along with a strong 173 bpm heartbeat!! After checking the heart beat and doing a few measurements, the sweet lady in ultrasound turned it to 4D which just amazed me. It was my first 4D experience! Here is our sweet "lemon sized" peanut who looks to be praying..ha! I still say that my gut feeling is a boy even though the heart beat is a little high. I am very torn between wanting a boy or girl, which is good since it's something I have absolutely no control over! I will honestly be thrilled either way. Thinking about having two girls so close in age who can share a room, wear matching clothes and grow up to be the best of friends {hopefully} makes me want a girl so bad... especially after finding the bedding I want for the "girls room" if it is a girl. However, I would love to have a Mommy's boy who Daddy can rough house with and AR can boss around and torture! ha! It would also be fun to do a boy nursery and buy boy stuff.. Obviously, the thought of either makes me smile!! Both boy and girl names are still in the air and probably won't be officially decided until the day we find out the gender! Daddy still wants to brainstorm...

So how has the pregnancy been? Well up until last week, I have been a bear to be perfectly honest. Poor Heath is all I can say. He must really love me ;) Not only have I been mean and an emotional basket case at times, but I also turned into an introvert. It is very unlike me to not want to be around people or to not be up for any kind of social gathering. However, I have not. I have been perfectly happy to spend my free time by myself..with AR of course.. and sometimes Daddy. Thankfully, things seem to be looking up and I am beginning to miss my friends and family. Hopefully those who I have not kept the best contact with over the past several weeks will forgive!! I promise it's not me, it's this hormonal bear who has taken over my body..ha! I think this 2nd trimester will be promising!! Hopefully ;)

So I think I am going to spend the weekend cleaning, catching up on this mountain of laundry, and maybe even spend a little time in my classroom organizing and possibly rearranging. Therefore, it will be a Wordless Weekend with pictures that I have yet to share. Hopefully this weekend will be as productive as I've planned it to be!

Virus and Life

Well this sweet baby girl caught the highly contagious stomach virus that has been spreading through our friends and family like wild fire. I have been on alert the past few days due to her less than stellar appetite and countless dirty diapers but thought that might be the worst of it. I was wrong. She woke up from her nap yesterday throwing up and continued doing so for a few hours. Bless her little soul, it was her first throw up experience and she was pitiful. Thankfully by bed time the worst of it was over and she was able to sleep peacefully, along with Mommy and Daddy. Being we know the virus is contagious, I thought it best that Daddy stay home with her today to keep the other kiddos who have already recovered from the same virus from getting it again. She is gaining strength and appetite back as of today but is still a little down. Hopefully by tomorrow she will have completely recovered. I am just hoping Daddy doesn't catch it. He is the biggest baby of us all when it comes to being sick and I can say that because he admitted it last night :) ha!

So what have we been doing? Well, New Years Eve we had dinner with Sarah, Eric and Amanda at Outback and Heath and I were back at home and asleep by 10:00 pm. We both fell asleep on the couch and didn't see a ball drop or a countdown. I woke up at 2:00 am to go crawl in the bed. On New Years day we rode over to Nana's to watch a lot football and eat our black eyed peas and collard greens. On Saturday, do to the freezing temps over the next several days, we decided to bring Chief inside {after a bath, of course}. He is doing so good for a dog who rarely ever comes inside. He has had no accidents and has just laid around taking it all in. AR has been a little unsure of his presence and tries to take the longest route around him. They are warming up to each other though. She let him share her pallet yesterday when she was sick.Yesterday, we took down the Christmas tree, got our lives ready to start the work week and of course, took care of a sick baby. Today, I went back to work. It was actually just a teacher work day but it was a little tough getting back in the groove of things. Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment. I know I have been awful at updating belly post but we really haven't stopped. I will be 12 weeks on Friday and I am determined to start documenting because I really regret not doing so with AR. I hope everyone has a great week. Our little family is getting very anxious about the National Championship game on Thursday. The forecast is calling for snow but what if the power goes out or the satellite?? What will we do?? We are a little worried but hopefully we will get enough snow to enjoy but not so much that it causes Alabama chaos!!

Have a great week!

AR = 15 months

At 15 months, we are:

  • not only walking, but running in full force!
  • beginning to eat with a fork {she doesn't understand that you can't stab your food with a spoon and pick it up.. The whole scooping up your food concept hasn't clicked yet.}
  • saying "Hey" to everyone we see, including random people in Walmart and anyone who walks through our front door.

  • saying new words everyday. Our newest one as of yesterday is "Cheese" when you take her picture! She loves to grab a camera and pretend to take a picture and say cheese!
  • addicted to cartoons {I am ashamed to say}..any advice?? At least they're educational!
  • a very good eater! In fact, we haven't found much she doesn't like, except apples.

  • very loving and always giving random hugs and kisses.
  • climbing into anything that has an opening and onto anything she can reach.
  • headstrong, whitty, and absolutely hilarious!

AR, your 15 months!
