Game Day: Week 6, 7, and 8

Game Day: Week 6

Alabama played South Carolina on October 9th. At the same time, we were celebrating Alston's 2nd birthday with a bounce, pizza and yummy cupcakes. Alston had a rough afternoon after being stung by a yellow jacket and left it up to the girls to open his gifts. AR had already had some practice from her birthday party so when it came to opening Alston's gifts, she had no trouble. I think she was more excited about what Alston got than he was {especially his clothes}. Somehow, I didn't take a single picture the whole day but here are a few pictures and a video Beth posted. Sadly, it was the only Alabama game of the season I have not watched and it's also the only Alabama game of the season they lost.

Game Day: Week 7

Daddy was home on Alabama/Ole Miss game day so we spent the late afternoon/evening with Patrick, Beth, and Alston. AR played her heart out and Westin slept the day away as we waited for the 8:00 game to start.

Since the game started so late, we ended up going home at half time and falling asleep before it ever ended. However, we did find out the next morning that Alabama managed a win! Roll Tide!

Game Day: Week 8

Daddy and I wanted nothing more than to spend a lazy Saturday at home. We watched football and played with our babies all day long! I realized I had not watched one Auburn game all year but had heard a lot about this Cam Newton guy so I decided to see what the hype was all about! WoW! Sarah and Maggie joined us for a little while! It was so fun getting in some Maggie time!
We had a bad idea to ride down to Heath's aunt and uncle's house to watch the Alabama/Tennessee game. We ended up waking AR from a late nap to go down there and boy was she ill. Westin has also started teething so we showed up with 2 irritable babies. We stayed until half time and decided to take our chaos back home to finish watching Alabama beat up on Tennessee in the 2nd half!

Thankfully, Alabama is off this weekend so our life won't revolve completely around football this Saturday! Instead, it will be consumed by 2 cuties in costumes and lots of candy for Mommy and Daddy to eat!

Fall Carnival

My school had its Fall Carnival last Thursday. Thankfully for me, it was right after school and only lasted until 5:30. I was assigned a booth to work for 45 minutes and didn't think I was going to be able to bring AR and Westin since I was going to be tied down. However, Daddy was still in town so he picked up the kids and brought them to the school so AR could enjoy the Carnival before I had to work the booth. She had a blast on the bounce and actually got pretty fearless.

We walked around to all the different booths winning little prizes here and there. At our last booth, AR landed a ball in a bowl of water and won a tiny gold fish friend for Ish. We call him Idget! While AR made her rounds with Daddy, Westin did what he does best....sleep!

Westin = 3 months

Westin,

You are now 3 months old and one growing big boy!

You finally recovered from your bronchiolitis episode, therefore, breathing treatments and antibiotics are no longer part of our daily routine! We were told when we found out you were so sick that you were also anemic but your most recent blood work showed no signs of anemia!!! Hopefully, we can keep you healthy through the upcoming winter.

When I say you are a big boy, I mean you are a chunky monkey. You weigh over 15 pounds already {you probably are pushing 16} and are no longer satisfied by 4 ounce bottles. 6 ouncers are a must! You have moved up to size 2 diapers which won't last you long. Your little fanny is already getting to big for them. You also have moved up into your 3-6 month clothes. I had several cute outfits made for you that I'm not going to be able to squeeze you into. Oh well, it gives Mommy a great reason to shop and have more stuff made for you. Keep growing big boy!

On your 3 month birthday you decided you were going to start sleeping through the night and have successfully done so for 2 weeks now!! You are a great sleeper as long as it's quiet and dark! Although I shouldn't, I love to rock you to sleep at night and you love it too! I should be letting you fall asleep on your own but rocking you to sleep is "our" time and I need that bonding time with my little monster!

You are teething full force! There are no signs of teeth but swollen gums, low grade fever, massive amounts of drool, gnawing on anything and everything, and irritable moods are sure signs that we aren't far. Although you are irritable, you are showing off that gummy smile more and more. Nothing makes me smile more than hearing your baby giggle!

You love standing up, being tickled, getting your tummy blown on, and being talked to!! You hate tummy time, being buckled in your car seat, going to Walmart and really just shopping all together. You are so much different than your big sister. She has always been so dramatic and overly excited about everything. However, you are VERY laid back and seem to be indifferent about EVERYTHING! You have a "who cares" attitude at the moment that cracks me up. We've also witnessed an impatient baby with a pretty bad temper when things aren't going your way. I wonder who you get that from?

Overall you are an absolute sweetheart who has your Mommy completely wrapped and your Daddy on cloud nine! We are looking forward to watching your grow into your own little self and interacting with your crazy family! You are one loved little boogar!

We love sweet Westin!
You are 3 months!

Guess Whoooo Turned 2?

I decided last year that I would take off work every year on mine and AR's birthday and spend the whole day with her! This year, Daddy joined us on our day out. Sadly, since I knew I was taking this day off I also had to schedule doctor appointments on this day. Therefore, Friday morning I had a doctors appointment so Daddy and AR drop me off and went to eat breakfast. After my appointment, AR had her 2 year appointment. Have I mentioned how much she hates the doctor. Usually she screams and pitches a fit but this trip she got really quiet and started shaking all over. Although she did have a few break downs she did pretty well. At 2 years old she weighs 26lbs (50th percentile) and she is 35 inches long (95th percentile). After our doctor visits we decided to make our way to the Galleria for lunch and to ride the carousel.

I decided to have AR's birthday party on her birthday for several reasons. The main reason was because the AL/FL game was that Saturday and knew having a party on the day of such a big football game would be difficult...sad...but true. Last year we had it on Sunday, which was great, but since Daddy was in town, I had already planned our family pictures for that Sunday and having family pictures and a birthday party on the same day would be almost impossible. Therefore, Friday seemed to be the best day! I was really unsure how a birthday party on a Friday night would go but honestly, I was very pleased. We had several people show up late because of work but for the most part everyone was able to make it by 5:30.

My sweet friend, Beth, designed the invites. I absolutely LOVE them!!!
{Yes, birthday is spelled wrong but it was fixed before we printed. I just realized I didn't upload the final copy}

I chose to have the party at Vincent Park this year because AR loves the playground. She and her little friends played their hearts out climbing the rock wall and sliding down the big slides. We decided to provide dinner since the party was during dinner time and figured soup and chili would be perfect! We had crock pots full of potato soup, vegetable soup, taco soup, and chili. In addition to soup, chili and all of their fixings, we also had hot dogs, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches {in the shape of owls}, and corn muffins. It was all so yummy!

Heath's Aunt Liz made AR's owl cake and our sweet friend, Mrs. Debbie, made her shirt!!

Since AR is so obsessed with animals right now but we aren't quit ready for a real pet, we figured a gold fish was the way to go! Meet Ish...the newest member of the Waldrop clan!

AR was hilarious opening her gifts. She got really excited over everything, especially her books and clothes. At moments, she would stop and take a look at a book!

My mom told me she had been working on something for AR's room but she wouldn't really tell me what it was. AR and I were both surprised when she opened her HUGE owl blanket/rug.

I love that I am still close to my high school friends. Most of them were able to make it out to the party! It always means so much to me when they go out of their way to come out to see us!

There was no better way to wrap up an owl birthday party than with an owl pinata. Since AR and most of her friends are too small to swing and hit a pinata, I decided to get one where all they had to do was pull the strings! With a little assistance, the group of toddlers pulled strings until all of the candy came pouring out!!

This is AR's reaction to all the candy falling out of the pinata:

Thanks to my mom and Memaw, AR's birthday party was a great success! They were the masterminds behind food and decor. Nana and JiJi were also a huge help! AR is so lucky to have such amazing grandmothers!

Saturday morning we got all of AR's birthday presents {except for the clothes} put away! This is her room now!

This birthday party was such a HOOT!!!!

Oh Brother.....

Westin has been one sickly little guy. We thought he had bronchitis last week and seemed to have gotten better as the week progressed. However, he seemed to have taken a turn for the worst over the weekend. I decided to get him on into the doctor this week and see what's going on. Sure enough, he had taken a turn for the worst. The doctor said he has bronchiolitis which was causing him to wheeze and cough. We were sent home with a nebulizer and a prescription of albuterol.

He has done so well with the nebulizer. I really thought it would upset him but he just lays back and takes it in. He actually has fallen asleep a few times during his breathing treatments. Sadly, the albuterol and the steroid he has to take along with it wire him to the point that he isn't sleeping well. He had a check up Dr. G today and thankfully were given the news that he is improving! He still has a way to go but the breathing treatments and steroid are helping! Hopefully when we go back next week, we will have an ALL CLEAR!! On a brighter note, he weighs 14lb 10oz!!! He isn't even 3 months old yet. He cracks me up because he is built like a brick. He looks just like a little football player! RTR!

AR = 2 years

Ava Reese,
      Can you believe it! You are two years old. I have been teaching you all week how to answer someone when they ask you how old you are. You will say, "I'm 2" and hold up two cute little fingers! It's so hard for me to believe that it has been two years since you were born. You've grown up so quickly and so far, it's been one wild ride!!

In the past year you have developed such a strong personality. You are sensitive, moody, wild, and absolutely hilarious. You have the best sense of humor I have ever seen on a child and I love it! You still hate to sleep and don't do very much of it. As of now, you still take a 1 hour (if we are lucky) nap in the afternoon and you average about 7 hours of sleep a night which is usually interrupted. You hate sleeping in your room (or maybe you just love sleeping with me) so it's a battle we fight every night. A battle that I sadly loose more often than not. Mommy and Daddy have decided we are going to break down and put a tv in your room. Hopefully, that will help..Who knows?

You have undergone a lot of change this past year. Daddy isn't home near as much as we are use to or we would like but you have dealt with it so well. You still are a big Daddy's girl and love to give him kisses over the phone. You also were given a baby brother without ever being asked if you wanted one. Although in my eyes you are still a baby yourself, you have taken the big sister roll and run with it. Everyday you talk to your brother in baby talk and make him grin from ear to ear. You love to feed him his bottle and never let him go a minute without his paci, even if he doesn't want it. You have become very interested in changing his diapers and are actually pretty good at it. I can't wait to see you two grow up together! You are going to be such a great sister..I hope :)

As of now, if it were up to you, you would live on gummies, string cheese, and choc choc (chocolate milk). You have your good and bad days when it comes to eating but if any of the three are an option, you will gladly take it no matter what. You are not a very picky eater at all, you just don't always have a very big appetite. You do, however, have your mommy's love for noodles and if nothing else, I can usually get you to eat a bowl for dinner, with of course gummies on the side.

You are a very smart girl. Some of the things your do and say completely throw me off guard and makes me wonder where in the world you learned it. You love to put together puzzles, build up your blocks, sing and dance, color, and slide! You also love your cartoons, especially Dora, Kai-Lan, and Blues Clues. At the moment you are obsessed with animals. You know LOTS of animal sounds and love to feed all of Nana and Poppy Bruce's animals.

I hate to say it, but you are one handful. The stage you are in right now is by far the hardest we have been through. You are so strong willed and adamant. However, your speech is still hard to understand so you get very aggravated with me when I don't understand what you want. We spend lots of time saying, "Use your words!", "What do you want?", "Show me!", or "Go get it." Hopefully, when you begin to speak a little more clearly you won't have as many break downs and come aparts. You are my STINKER!

You are wild, you are crazy, you are beautiful!

Happy Birthday to You!
Ava Reese, YOU ARE 2!
{and Mommy is 26- OLD}
