Boston Visit

We took a quick trip for the weekend to visit Brady and Alyssa in Boston. Snow flurries were pretty persistent throughout the weekend but it didn't stop us from seeing the sites and having some fun. We stayed at the Residence Inn Downtown Seaport.

Cannolis and Boston cream pie from Mike's Pastries were a must.

The historic Granary Burying ground founded in 1660 where quite a few famous people are
buried like Paul Revere, John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Robert Treat Paine.

                                                               Dinner at Giacomo's

It is so good at this little restaurant that a line forms
outside to get in starting at 4:30 and continues throughout
the night. We luckily got in first before much of a line formed.
Brady almost missed it though as we were hurried through
dinner by our waitress as he was walking there from work.
Our waitress was pretty serious about her job and was pushing
us to dine quickly. Pretty entertaining little spot.
                                                                  Delicious food.
Brady's internship in the financial district

                                                                       Cheers Bar

An extremely old church sitting in the middle of all
                                                 the modern high rise buildings

The view of the city and Fenway

We had to do some fine shopping on Newbury Street

                                                   The Boston Marathon finish line

We pampered ourselves and our tired feet at the salon.
The boys all had their first pedicure. It was really fun to
do it all together. A tradition we may need to keep for
                                                                   future vacations.

The climb up to the top of the Bunker Hill Monument was 294 stairs.

The Freedom Trail
The Old North church is the oldest church still standing in Boston. It first opened in 1723 and later played a dramatic role in the American Revolution. It is the location from which the famous "One if by land, and two if by sea" signal was said to be sent during Paul Revere's midnight ride which preceded the battles of Lexington and Concord.

USS Constitution

Launched in Boston in 1797, it is the oldest commissioned warship afloat. During the war of 1812 cannonballs were fired at USS Constitution but appeared to bounce off, causing the crew to remark her sides were made of iron earning her the name of 'Old Ironsides'.

Walking to church with the friends we gathered along the way. We overheard 3 guys in the lobby of our hotel asking for directions to church in Cambridge which was where we were going. Brady asked them if they wanted us to show them the way to the Cambridge First Ward. They agreed and followed along with us. Two of them were BYU students and the other was their professor. They were there presenting at a conference. Sunday was a beautiful day, we finally got some sunshine. Feeling very grateful to get to church at home in a matter of minutes. Getting to church in Boston is a trip on the subway and quite a bit of walking.
