Welcome to our website!

Thanks for stopping by. With all that's changing in our family, we thought it would be a good idea to create a website where friends and family can keep in touch and share in our latest family moments. We will be updating with news of the day (not every day!), milestones worth noting, pictures, slideshows, and anything else we can think of sharing this way.

Talk to you soon!

A visit with Aunt Aly and Uncle Nate

Auntie Aly and Uncle Nate came to visit for the afternoon. We hung out at the house and went on a sunset walk up the lane to the duck pond. Aly and Nate both were amazed at how big he has gotten and had a great time chatting with him and getting him to smile.

An eventful week

Besides the 6 days of record breaking rain (and hail), we have had quite a fun week. The weekend started off with a visit from Nana Gwen and Grandad Oscar....or the Great ones as they are sometimes referred to by their great grandkids. Fortunately for us, the dry weather held out until sunday and we were able to go to the lake park for a stroll in the afternoon. Brian cooked his now famous chicken and we made a homemade loaf of bread...with the help of the bread machine.

Bixby is also getting really good at aiming for and grasping objects. He's a pro with his wiggle worm play gym and he has really taken to his new duck rattle. We have also been doing some tummy time without the diaper...as those cloth ones can be a bit weighty and bulky for one his size. This has allowed him to really use his legs and he can even get his knees under himself. He is well on his way to learning to crawl....but for now he mostly slides backwards. He also has learned to roll onto his side from his back, which we discovered while changing him. You can tell that once he starts moving, there will be no stopping him.

Bixby and dad

Bixby has been enjoying flying on dad's knees and reading with dad at night. Since he goes to bed so early, dad usually just gets to read to him at night and then put him to bed. He is also becomming an expert hjand sucker and even clasped both his hands together the other day....which means his hand eye coordination is improving and he will hopefully find his thumb soon.

Bixby's version of talking

Bixby loves to "talk"... especially when on his wiggle worm play mat. Here is a video of him cooing to me and "the handsome baby in the mirror".

Bixby and Lexi

When we put Bix down on the floor the other day, Lexi came to join him. She did her cute roll over thing and reached out to him with her paws. Likely, had he reached out for her, she would have run away, but she is definately getting used to him and I know they will be great friends. Here are some pictures of them squirming on the floor together.

Our day in the orchard

We spent a lovely California winter day hanging out in the yard watching the chickens and checking out the orchard. Brian had just planted some Catalina Ironwoods along the back fence so we were showing Bixby all the great trees out back.

New Years

So New Years eve went pretty much how you would expect an evening to go with a ten week old....we put him to bed at 5 (a little early for him but he missed 2 naps) and we went to bed at 10 (a little late for us but we lost track of time). We were awakened at 1 am in celebration of the new year....but we were tired and forgot to celebrate. So here are some pictures from new years day. Not as sunny of a day as yesterday but Brian managed to get some work done in the garden and Bix gave us lots of smiles in the afternoon.

Bixby is getting used to tummy time and he got a tummy time mirror from Santa for Christmas to encourage him to look up and scoot forward. He absolutely loves his play gym that Nana and Grandad Davis got him for Christmas. He looks at it longingly whenever we walk by and loves to lay down and make the toys bounce and shake. This is also where we get some good smiles and cooing out of him.
