Had my regular check up today and everything is going great! My BP was a touch high, but my OB was fine with it. Last week a different doctor - the one who does my insulin - said my amniotic fluid level was a bit low and that I needed to drink even more water. So I have been. My OB said when she got his report my level wasn't low - it was just on the lower side of normal. Low would be less than 5cm and I had just over 8cm. She did a quick ultrasound today and said everything looks great and I have over 10cm now so nothing to worry about. I was able to cancel my appt for Friday's fluid check at the insulin doctor's office. YAY! To sum it all up everything is going great!
I go back next week for just a routine check. I have my standard non-stress tests twice a week though.
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which she'll need to regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Same 'ol... Same 'ol...
Still here on the couch!
Life is good - Logan is doing great... keeps passing all the non stress tests with flying colors. My blood pressure has been staying in a pretty good area so I'm doing good too. I'll be 34 weeks on Wednesday so we are getting there. That was the first goal of the doctors... get me to 34 weeks. I'm hoping for 36 weeks now!
On Wednesday I have a tummy check to see how I'm measuring, Thursday I have another non stress test to see how Logan is and on Friday I have a quick ultrasound to check my amniotic fluid level because it was a little low last Tuesday. Not scary low - just a little on the low side. To help that issue I have been drinking water like a mad woman. That is about all you can do to help the fluid level. We'll see how well I've done.
I have been working from my couch and trying to get things done "at the office" and watching a lot of really random television shows. Mom has been taking care of me and getting me to and from my appts every day. Nathan has been great - picking up all the extra stuff that isn't on his normal to-do list. And Dad has been helping finish up a lot of the little house things. It has been a great help!
So that is about it from here!

Greetings from my couch...
Well - my circumstances have changed a bit. I am on bed rest... for the duration of this little pregnancy journey. My blood pressure has gone up a bit. Then if it gets a bit too high like it did on Friday - they send me over to labor and delivery triage. Of course when I'm there my blood pressure was just fine and dandy. Go figure... I'm still on bedrest though. Luckily it is modified so I can get up to move around from time to time and I can sit up as long as my feet are up.
So that is my latest. A good time, no? Today is my first baby shower and I'm very much looking forward to it. I'll of course be taking it easy.
Mom and Dad came over yesterday and my gosh between Nathan and my parents they did an AMAZING job of doing many of the final touches on rooms in the house. I am so happy to have the little touches that make a house a home. This afternoon our piano is making its way from Nathan's parents house to our house! I"m very excited!!!
Well back to laying down I go!

One down... who knows how many to go
Had my first non stress test this morning - I'll go again on Thursday for another one. Logan is doing just fine and dandy. Was fun to sit and listen to his heartbeat for over a half hour. I click a button every time he moves and they montitor to make sure his heartrate goes up when he moves... as it should. I guess they take his average heartrate and then in order to "pass" he has to get it twice where he goes 15 beats above average. He passed so that is good. This obviously isn't a standard pregnancy thing - but I'm super special because of the diabetes diagnosis.
I'm hooked up to the dopplar thing and another thing monitoring anything going on with my uterus and have a button in my hand and I need to drink a lot of water so I'm holding a glass of water too. Half way through they decide to take my blood pressure. It was a bit high (I'm thinking... duh I'm trying to concentrate on Logan moving, pushing a button, holding a glass of water... a lot going on!)... it was 144/84. Anything over 140/90 is considered high - so it isn't TOO high. To rule out anything with pre-eclampsia (REALLY high BP in pregnancy) they sent me for some bloodwork. I'm thinking everything will come back fine. I have no other symptoms of pre-e so we'll just wait and see. They asked if I had had any unusual swelling (the swelling feet is pretty normal) and I said I didn't, but they checked my weight to make sure it hadn't gone up a bunch since my last appointment (water retention)... nope - the opposite in fact. I was down two more pounds. My total weight gain currently is 2 pounds. So... if Logan weighed 3.5 ish pounds at 29 weeks I personally weigh less than I did when I got pregnant. Funny how that works.
We'll see what I hear back from the bloodwork probably tomorrow. Tonight are baby classes and tomorrow is meeting with a daycare option... Thursday is another non stress test and my 32 week OB appt, Friday is calls to pediatricians... Saturday is a focus group... and Sunday is my first baby shower! ...busy week ahead of us! Just means time is going to go by even faster!
This past weekend was nice and relaxing though. We had a great 4th of July party and the weater couldn't have been better. I was loving it! Saturday Nathan did a lot of work outside and I did a little work inside and outside. He did a TON of trimming of the crazy bushes in back and some limbs hanging over the house so now we have a TON of yard waste. Dad is coming over on Wednesday with a chainsaw and we'll get rid of a lot of that. Sunday we had Tommy's 2nd birthday party!! I can't believe the little guy is two already! He is so smart and just fun to be around. Watching him and his cousin Bennett it was entertainment in itself. I personally liked when Tommy got in the little pool with his regular clothes on... about 20-30 minutes after he got changed out of his bathing suit! CLASSIC! Such a happy boy and it seems like he loved all his presents so that is great! We got a present too - DIAPERS! Kyle so graciously (accidentally) bought newborn diapers for Piper! OOPS! So now we have a pack of those and her left over size 1 diapers! YAY for us!

Back to single digits... NINE WEEKS LEFT! Baby Logan - Week 31
Good Morning!
Hope all is well with everyone. Things here are going really well. I swear I feel SO much better this month than I did last month. It is amazing how Logan being in a nicer position makes life much easier. I haven't had any kicks to the ribs or anything like that yet. But as my brother said... the key word is YET!
Logan schedule of sorts seems to have changed a bit this week. He is more active during the day than he has been previously. I was so used to him moving more in the evenings after work when I would lay down and such. It was a mental adjustment for me. But when we were praying last night before bed Logan gave his daddy a good hard kick to let us know he was participating! I love when that happens.
Only 9 weeks to go... seems crazy to me. I think it is going to really be more like 7 weeks and then he will be here. I think he'll be a mid-ish August baby. We shall see though!
The diabetes thing is going well. Still playing with the insulin doses to get me on the right one, but the doctor and I think we are really close. My fasting numbers are just 1 or 2 points high. SOOOO close! The diet is going just fine and dandy. It does get a bit annoying and repetitive at times, but really not a big deal.
I can't wait for our showers to start so we can start getting Logan's room together. I'm anxious to do that! I am still trying to convince myself that he is actually going to come out... I keep thinking - oh I'm just pregnant - that is different than actually having a baby. I suppose I should really work on changing that mindset and quick because the coming weeks are going to go by FAST!
That is about it from the land outside my belly... here is Logan's update:
This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) (or probably more than that since he weighed about that at 29 weeks!) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.
