Clinton Fall Festival

Once upon a time we used to go to the Clinton Fall Festival every year. The tradition for the most part had dwindled, but this year we returned to check things out. Nathan was up north visiting his Grandparents and I spent the night with my parents. We headed out after Logan ate lunch and effectively ruined his napping time. (He did take a short morning nap though.) Like his mommy Logan is a people watcher! (He is now back at my parents house talking to himself in the crib - hopefully he falls asleep soon!

We sat in the front yard of a member of my parent's church who live downtown. It was perfect. Logan was such a great boy - two hours past his nap time. He clapped and danced to the marching bands and bagpipers. He REALLY loved the bagpipers! We didn't bring the camera, but I caught a couple pictures with mom's camera phone.

The first picture is Logan with Spiderman and Batman! We took this picture for daddy. Contrary to the closed eyes Logan was awake for this photo. Oh well!

The other two are during the parade!

Cubbie Baby...

Mommy put together some pieces to put down in the craft room. Logan really thought they were great. So much so he used it as a hideout! :-)

Letting your child learn...

So at Logan's new room at daycare they really encourage the kids to use their utensils. Well - how does that work for a 13 month old? In a VERY MESSY way! Logan has done really well for many months using a fork (if we put the food on it for him), but the spoon has eluded us. Just in the last two weeks of being in Room 7 at daycare Logan's spoon abilities have greatly improved... however - it is still VERY messy! Mommy will admit that I am NOT good with food messes. Food on a person's face completely grosses me out... I mean GAG worth grosses me out. I've gotten over it some while Logan went down his solid food journey, but this is just too much.

We have tried at home to allow Logan to feed himself with his utensils. He really is doing great for a 13 month old... I really shouldn't complain. BUT - when your child comes away from the table looking like this..... NASTY! (and a note - Nathan had already cleaned Logan up some... but that tray... GAG WORTHY FOR MOMMY!):

Blessed by the Lord!

On Sunday Logan was baptised! It was a long time in the making, but we were finally able to make it happen. When it came to deciding what Logan would wear I was looking at the more traditional white/silky get up, but really... for a 13 month old BOY? I didn't think so! We found this super cute little suit for him (minus the jacket) and he was a total stud. Pastor Chuck said he had never had such a dressed up little boy to baptised. HA! He was pretty darn cute! He was adorable up there being held by his daddy.

We had a nice lunch back our house for the family who came to celebrate. It was a BEAUTIFUL day - the weather was perfect (contrary to his rainy birthday festivities) and we just had a great time. Just thinking of the blessing God had given us through this beautiful little boy is more than I could have even imagined! I give a prayer of thanks every day for this toddling blessing.

Seriously - could he be any cuter?
Logan has been pointing his finger for a while now and sadly it goes up his nose half the time. haha

The big moment!

Logan and Aunt Tina playing in the grass.

Seriously the cutest child I've laid eyes on. Yes, I am biased and that is fine with me.

Baby blues... Grandpa Wolfe's shirt really brought out the color!

Logan and cousin Liam - even Logan wants to pinch those cheeks!

A trip to the fair!

On Saturday Nathan, Nathan's mom, Logan and I went to a local community fair. It was the perfect size fair for a little one. Three barns of different animals, barn of exhibits, tractors, food, rides, etc. We went there at 10:45 Saturday morning - there was hardly anyone there. The rides didn't open until 1:00 (we didn't plan on taking him on any of the rides - there weren't really any rides suitable for a little guy) and the fair parade was going on downtown. So literally we were the only people in some of the barns. PERFECT!

Logan loved the sheeps, goats and smaller animals. When we got the llamas and the horses he really wanted nothing to do with them. He enjoyed sitting on the tractors (we weren't supposed to sit on the tractors, but well - mommy broke the rules since no one was in the barn to tell me no! haha!)

We were able to go to the exhibit barn that had the baby picture contest winners. My mom entered Logan and my neice and nephew in it. Tommy came in 6th for his age, Piper came in 5th and Logan got 2nd! It was pretty cool! Mom had entered me when I was little and I won when I was Logan's age. It was fun to have him in it too. He loved his picture so much he decided to give it a kiss! HA!

We also found one of those displays where you stick your head in and take pictures... haha... Logan was pretty agreeable for the whole thing - especially considering he hadn't gotten a morning nap and he typically still does at home. We thought it was pretty darn cute that he actually stuck his head in there!

Hope you enjoy the photos!

Next post will be his baptism from Sunday! Such a wonderful day!

Crossover scrapbook post

This post is actually found over at my scrapbooking blog, but when I consider making this hobby in a business who better to talk to than my "target market" THE MOMMY! I have a decent array of mom's who follow this blog and please read/look at everything below and give me some honest feedback. It would be greatly appreciated! THANKS!

A good friend of mine had a baby last week and I had been meaning to make and send out a gift before the baby was born, but in the haste of Summer time I neglected to do so. Knowing the baby's birth was soon I started work on her album last week - buying the supplies and such. I put everything together this weekend. I was so happy to give this book as a gift. I don't often do a book where the whole thing is just 5 different colors/papers. So the challenge for me was trying to create 20 different layouts with the colors I had to work with. I think they turned out pretty well! I included the size that each photo should be for the matting that way there is no guess work for the new mommy. Cut and paste and she is good to go!

I can't wait to see how it looks once she has all the pictures inside! What excites me even more is that after seeing it she is ordering one for a girlfriend of hers' baby shower! YAY! A paid scrapbooking job - what a concept! I am hopeful more will come in the future! YAHOO!! It helps to get things going with a friend because she is wonderfully honest at helping me figure out how to price things and such as that.

The book is all about the firsts of a baby! I went through everything I thought was special with Logan (helped that I have most of his first year done) and added a few little things special to California and off we went.

The monkeys in the book. Cute, huh? I would be lying if I said they were a total: Pain.in.the.BUTT! HA! The colors I picked for the book match the nursery bedding/decor she selected. Also in the decor she chose are monkeys. I purchased the wall stickers they had for the room, scanned them, shrunk them, print and cut! The cutting took a lot of time, but it was worth it I think. They added just the right touch! I'm glad they turned out so cute.

Different embellishments used:

  • White fibers
  • Silver brads
  • Silver eyelets
  • Embossing thread (green and white)
  • Green/Brown "jewels"

For me I find it works best if I choose a set of things I'm going to use - embellishments/paper/etc and just stick with those for the most part. Makes putting the books together faster because you aren't always thinking on each page what to use. You only have to think HOW to use them!

Hope you enjoy - any feedback would be appreciated. OH - and for 20 8x8 pages, my time (10 or so hours) and supplies for the album (approximately $30 - for the album, paper, embellishments, adhesive) ... HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY?? (PLEASE BE HONEST)

The Large Stuffed Mouse Place

So on Wednesday night were going to go to the local community fair to spend a couple hours, but when checking the weather it said a 70% chance of rain so we opted for something different. Nathan - my oversized kid at heart - AKA Husband - suggested Chuck-E-Cheese! I figured one night of nasty pizza and over prized games sounded like fun. :-) Logan seemed to enjoy himself as well. In the Toddler area they had a Teletubbies "ride" - Those are the teletubbies, right?

The slide was only okay fun as it didn't SLIDE very well. Logan kept getting stuck with his shoes on. We took his shoes off and he was still getting stuck. Oh well.

One major highlight was the "Push the button and burn through your tokens game!" Logan did really well at this game!

Look at all the tickets he won at it!!

Daddy and Logan having fun and eating tickets!

Logan and Daddy on the jetski game! Logan had fun with it bouncing all over. Then he would fuss to get off so Nathan would get ready to jump off and Logan wouldn't want to. After about the third time of this WE decided game was over!

We are going to the fair on Saturday with my mother-in-law and Sunday is Logan's baptism! YAY!
