Getting the Tree Up

I am a bit behind - so don't mind me while I play catch up.

For some reason I really don't like decorating for holidays. Especially decorating the Christmas tree. I have no idea why as I'm sure I remember enjoying it growing up, but the past handful of years... not so much. But let me tell you what - having a child who GETS IT - makes a world of difference! Logan was so thrilled about "Christmas Time" this year that it made the whole experience even better!

Logan and I went out together on a rainy Saturday morning to buy our little tree from a small tree lot that had found its home in a large parking lot. It was a good time. He was so excited about the whole process. After the tree dried out during nap time we were able to decorate it that evening. It was a pretty good time! I even put some of the knick knack decorations out! GO ME! Here are some pictures from the evening:

Logan loves to hold his sister... it is the cutest thing! He is very sweet with her and makes multiple stops in the infant room at daycare to give her kisses throughout the day. :)

Logan was in charge of lights!

Abby insisted on helping so we gave her a shot - she was not very effective!

Our little finished tree...

I'm already sort of looking forward to doing this again next year. However, first I have to take everything down... anoter task I dread! :)

The Puke Badge...

Let's start with the positive stuff first... before the Puke Story. Saturday night was Nathan and my's first night out sans kids since Abby's birth! EEK! To make it even better my parents offered to keep Logan and Abby OVERNIGHT! Woot Woot! Right? And to even TOP that news - the night out was completely free! It was Nathan's company Christmas party. We had a great time and really enjoyed the dinner and dancing. Here is a little long arm picture I took with my phone. Dark, but we are happy. I posted it on Facebook and my brother quickly commented, "Are you drinking?" HA! Well - yes, yes I was. For the first time since before we started TRYING to get pregnant with Abby. Needless to say it had been a while. Thankfully it wasn't a disaster and we had a great time.

Sunday morning we woke up fairly early and after breakfast out we finished up our Christmas shopping. YAY! Then headed out to pick up the kids at my parents' house. We relaxed there through nap time and then headed back in to Ann Arbor to meet Nathan's family and some friends for dinner. This was when things started to take a turn for the worst. Logan said he didn't feel good, but he can be rather defiant at times so we thought maybe that was the case. Nope. Logan said his belly hurt and we asked him what it felt like and he said, "poop." This typically just means he needs to poop. So we tried when we got home... we tried after bath... we tried before bed. Then Logan and I went in his room to go to bed and he stood up from my lap and burst into tears and said he didn't feel good and then got back in lap and curled up... and that is when it happened. The moment I had been dreading since becoming a mom over 40 months ago... projectile vomit... from my sweet boy who was sitting on my lap... facing me... yup - you know it was bad. I grabbed him, yelled for Nathan and then hurried Logan to the bathroom while he threw up again in the hallway and then on the bathmat in the bathroom before I could get him in the bathtub. Poor buddy was so scared from it all. He asked what happened and I told him he threw up. He said, "I threwed up on you and my floor and the hallway and my clothes and the bathtub." Sure did buddy. This was at around 8:20. We got him cleaned up and put to bed only to hear him yell out and I got up there just in time to see a fountain erupt from his mouth and all over his bed. This was at 8:59...
Round Three at 9:28
Round Four at 9:52
Round Five at 10:53
Then we decided he and Nathan were going to have a camp out downstairs in the living room so someone was close by and they were far away from Abby who was in her room (for the first time!) Nathan took this picture (again dark.)

Round Six at 11:55
Round Seven at 2:26
Round Eight at 4:16 with a side of diarrhea.

That was the last time he was sick and then slept til 7:45. He hasn't ate much today, some water/apple juice, a few bites of dry toast and applesauce. Nathan stayed home with him and my mom came in to watch Abby (she is normally in on these days) and that way we could keep the kids away from each other. When I left for work Logan was dancing and having a great time so that is good news. As I type this he is napping and we are hoping he wakes he will feel even better and be ready to eat a bit more.

So there you have it... covered in puke (both Nathan and I at different points) we earned our Puke Badges of Parenthood. And I'm good with not doing this again any time soon!

Two month check up

This morning I took Abby in for her two-month appointment. She weighed in at 12 pounds 11.5 ounces and is 22 inches long. She is growing and doing great. The doctor was pleased with how well she is doing. The only area of concern was that we need to work more on getting Abby to turn her head to the left as she favors the right side A LOT. Also she has blocked tear ducts in botheyes. This isn't a major issue and will hopefully resolve on its own (I double checked that with my opthamologist cousin and he agreed) and if she is still all goopy eyed when she is 9-12 months then she'll have a proceedure to open them up.

But overall Abby is doing great - she is a beautiful and happy little girl. Here are some pictures I took while we were waiting for the doctor to show up.

Abby's 1 month...

On Abby's 1 month birthday we took these pictures and some unofficial stats at the house. She is such a doll baby and I can't believe another month has already passed since we took these photos. Her 2 month photos will be coming soon!

Abby's first month was a whirlwind. I feel as though now - month later - do I even remember the first month? There were a lot of feedings, poopy diapers, spitting up, crying, cuddling, sleeping, waking... etc etc. Nathan and I had to remember quickly that having a newborn was a lot like Baby Bootcamp. I love this sweet girl more than I can even say though and that has helped us get through the rough times with her.

God has truly blessed us.

Back to the daily grind...

I am back to work as of today... *tear*... I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry most of the way to my office. Thankfully it is only an 8 minute drive. :)

Now that I have a lunch hour I will be able to catch up on blogging so we don't miss a moment of Abby's little life. Be back with blogs later this week! Yipee! But in the mean time... check out these sweet faces:

Trick or Treating!!

My last Halloween related post...

It was Abby's first Halloween and Logan's first time trick-or-treating. It was a great time. The weather was fairly decent so it wasn't too bad out. We walked a few streets over where there are lights and sidewalks and it was perfect.

Here is our little pumpkin all ready for her first outing. After a looooong day with VERY little sleep she slept while we were out walking around.

Logan is ready to go!

Our kids ready to head out for trick or treating!

Logan's first house. He did a great job walking up and down the sidewalks and such. This lady was so sweet with him and their house was decorated cute so it was a great house to start with.

I thought we did a pretty good job explaining to Logan the how-tos on trick or treating, but apparently I forgot the part about not walking into the people's homes. On his 4th or 5th house the old man opened his door and Logan opened it the rest of the way and walked right on it through the entry way and to the living room! I quickly ran up the sidewalk and profusely apologized! I explained he was still learning how to trick or treat. Thankfully the nice old man didn't seem too bothered.

After we were done in our neighborhood - we loaded in the car and headed to Great Aunt Me and Great Uncle Frank's house (my aunt and uncle.) They live a couple miles away and is a required trip on Halloween. They had a fog machine, spooky music and figures. Logan didn't want to go up, but I kept telling him it was Aunt Me and Uncle Frank's house, but Logan just kept repeating it was a "spooky house!" Once he saw Aunt Me he was happy to run up there thankfully.

It was a great outing and here is Logan looking through all his Halloween loot. :) Thankfully he hasn't wanted to eat a ton of it as I think he forgets it is there most of the time. Sadly, I can not say the same! I think the rest of it is going into work with Nathan on Monday!

Our first family outing - Harvest Fest

The Sunday before last we made our first family outing to our church's Harvest Fest. I was quite proud that we made it out and the weather was lovely. We tried out a sling - "look Mom - no hands!!!"

The had a little inflatable playhouse for the kid. Logan loved it! To date he had never really gone in one. He gets excited about them, but then would never go in. Fear conquered!

There was a straw maze that the boys enjoyed while Abby and I watched them run all over and took photos. Donut in hand was a for sure requirement!

How sweet are my boys?

Logan with the pumpkins - he painted one (the one we ended up carving.)

A family picture:

His finished artwork!

Me and my kids (love the sound of that!) :)

We went on a hayride too - it was a very very very bumpy hayride, but Logan loved it and that is all that matters!

Pumpkin Carving Time

On Friday we decided to pull out the pumpkin Logan painted to carve it up. Abby was not pleased that there was not a pumpkin for her to carve - as you can see:

Logan wasn't a fan of picking out the guts of the pumpkin. The gut collection was Daddy's job.

The sheer panic in his eyes at the thought of being asked to stick his hand in the pumpkin. Cracks me up!

He eventually reached in, but didn't actually grab anything and was so upset when a little bit of guts got stuck to his arm.

Daddy went to feed Abby so Momma was in charge of carving. Logan picked the shapes of each feature and I did the cutting. It was a fun time.

The finished product! He was so pleased that it was a happy pumpkin with a big smile. I realized half way through pumpkin carving that I didn't really have any candles/tea lights to go in. The only thing I did have were birthday candles so I dug three holes in the bottom an stuck them in there. It worked quite well, but the flames didn't last very long. The boy was happy though - that is all that matters anyway.

School Halloween Party

Last week the kids' daycare had their annual Halloween party. Usually this event, while fun, tends to make me a little crazy. Too many people in too small of a space is not a good combination and I tend to first get sweaty and then get sick to my stomach and quickly start feeling like I am too big for the space and need to go. This year thankfully - while it was warm there seemed to be less people and we really enjoyed ourselves!

We thankfully found Logan a Super Man costume that actually fit. (Who knew a 4T sized costume from the seasonal Halloween City store would actually be more like an 18 month size. It was seriously a JOKE - no wonder they have a no returns policy. Ridiculous.) Here is my little super hero all ready for his party!

(How perfect is this pose?!) ha!

Here he is at the party. Each of the room has a different little activity. In Logan's room they had magnetic fishing. Logan was having a blast.

Here is Logan and his favorite gal pal, Izzy.

This is our good friend Bobbie - who is also the head teacher in the infant room. She took care of Logan when he was a baby and will be taking care of Abby too when she starts the beginning of December. We love us some Bobbie!

Our family picture:

My mom came with us as she was over that afternoon helping me get things together. Grandma and Grandchild #3 and #5 :)

It was a great time had by all!

Coming Home

After our slight delay on our dpearture time we left the hospital Thursday just before lunch time. My mom brought Logan up to the hospital so we could go home as a family of 4. So fun! Logan appointed himself in charge of pushing my wheelchair all the way out to the car. It was cute - he was very proud of himself.

We made it out to the car and realized it would have been much easier if we had put her in her carseat before leaving the hospital room. That is what we did with Logan and that made it much easier for us. ha! Nathan was a bit flustered getting her in her carseat, but all is well that ends well! Here she is!

We put Grandma in charge of photos and she did a great job. Logan was very enthusiastic to help carry Abby into the house. It was very cute.

Once we were settled, ate lunch and Logan took his nap - Logan was able to open his big brother present! He was super excited to receive a new race car track - it mounts on the wall and Logan loves it!

Logan loves holding Abby - doesn't he look like such a proud big brother?

He even read to her from his Llama Llama book - so sweet!
