7*2*08...Walk to Time Square...NYC

Macy's is located in Herald Square near our hotel on the way to Times Square. The sign says "The World's Largest Store" . I thought it was very big with multiple floors and someone could easily get lost especially since there are exits that take you out all around the building, so you have to remember where you came in at. I remember Harrod's in London being huge to shop around in. As I was writing this, I actually looked up on Wikipedia which store is larger and they actually tie with Harrod's in London (over one million square feet of selling space).
We stoppped for cheesecake near Times Square...so good!
Below are pictures in Times Square or very near.  There is so much going on...so fun!  I could walk around and look at all the lights and I love to people watch for a long time.

Stay at Hotel Stanford...NYC

We had to stay in a hotel for a few days before we could move into our apartment for the rest of our stay. Our hotel window faced the Empire State Building..as you can see. It was really cool to look out the window day or night and see it right there.
The hotel was located on Korean Way. About every sign was in Korean on that street.
Our hotel room was very hard to be in for two adults, one 2 y.o., stroller/toys, and lots of luggage. I gave up on trying to keep everything picked up/put away/in its place.

7*2*08...Calie and I...first adventure walk

Today Colby had to go into work to learn a few office details before the guy he is filling in for leaves on his vacation. So, Calie and I deceided to just walk around the area near our hotel. We came upon the NYC Public Library. I thought we would take a break from the heat and go inside to read a few books. I was sad to see that that particular library branch did not have a very big selection of kid books. But we still had fun. Outside of the library, Calie was having fun chasing the pigeons in the sitting area.

NYC...7*1*08 pm

Our first night in NYC, we ventured out to find a place to have dinner and we discovered we were right down the street from Madison Square Garden. It was fun to begin to see all the places you hear about!

7*1*08...New York City...We have arrived!

Manhattan here we come!... We are in our crazy cab ride to the hotel for two days then to the apartment.
It was really interesting to read all the signs...as we waited in the crazy traffic... This picture is of one sign that you can't take pictures or video of or through the Queens Midtown Tunnel ever since 9/11.
Some other signs read:
No standing on corners!
Park at 90* angle backing in this side only (at some business)

Oklahoma City Trip, June 2008

In June, we went to Oklahoma City to the temple (our stake "fill the temple day") and to see some sights for the weekend (June 20-21). We had a blast. We joined the Scates family in this weekend road trip. Calie enjoys hanging out with her friend Lydia and her brothers. On Friday, we attended the temple, went to the pool, and went to Bricktown for Dinner. On Saturday, we went the OKC Museum of Art which had some Roman artifacts from the Louvre (no pics allowed) and some beautiful blown glass, ate lunch at Bricktown, and went the OKC Memorial Building from the 1995 bombing. Jeannie and I went through the detailed exhibit which was really amazing. I could not imagine going through such a devasting crisis. There was an actual recording that you could hear the blast on, some blast rumble left in its orginal place, and so many amazing stories and displays. I walked out of that memorial very thankful for my blessings!
Saturday late afternoon we headed home after a fun packed weekend!

Test Post

Before I spend too much time and effort posting my first blog post, I better try a test post. If this works, I guess I'll try my best to keep you updated on our family blog!
