Can we hold our heads up or down?

The first phase (2004-2008) of the Malaysian Institute of Integrity’s National Integrity Plan is coming to a close. Have we little to learn or is Malaysian culture at cross-purposes with the NIP? (The Star, Wed 29/08/07)

Got this from today's paper.. It's so timely as I was actually debating regarding this issue on integrity in work place just last night. Something happened (p&c) and I just can't accept the fact that this is the culture of our society at this age. Filled with anger but mostly disappointment with the system, I kept questioning myself: 'Is this what I can accept or should I just take a step forward and leave'. But as I discussed this matter with Karl, he did mention that maybe I should have a broader mind.. Look further.. as in the interest of the organization.. But does that mean that I have to forsake my own pride and dignity? Of course it is not as serious as it sounds :) And I wouldn't claim myself as a person with high integrity; But there's always a limit to everything.. For me, everything has to straightforward and transparent. What'd been said must be implemented. But the system here seems to have too many loopholes where all the culprits were freed but us who uphold it were at the losing end.. or shall I rephrase it.. we became the laughing stock.. Well, I will still hold on to what I believe it's right regardless the outcome.. Atleast I can tell myself that I'd tried my best to implement it :)

Still on the same topic,

And it’s common sense that if you want the populace to be more honest and show integrity in their dealings, representatives of the public and private sectors and MPs or assemblymen must show these qualities themselves.

Port Klang assemblyman Zakaria Md Deros lost the satay restaurant he built illegally on state land but was allowed to keep his four-storey mansion built without council approval.

What message are we sending if politicians can break laws with impunity and get off lightly? (The Star, Wed 29/08/07)

I think by next month we can see whether the NIP run by MII actually works, just observe the number of roadblocks, speedtraps and also enforcement officers at work. One will wonder the sudden increase in number and one should also be able to feel safe by the security provided by our beloved enforcement officers. 'Kudos' to them. No more illegal activities. You will even be surprise that Malaysian drivers whom are famous for their skills in cutting queues and overtaking will actually start behaving themselves. No more beating the red lights. Ever wonder why?? :)

But I really do appreciate what MII has been trying to do. I don't know whether it's an upfront thing or just for showcase, but somehow, something need to be done. It had to be implemented or corrected from the roots itself. As a concern citizen, I will do my best upholding my principles and I believe many others who actually do that too. We can't change the whole world but we can change within our own circle. And I believe Malaysia Boleh! We are already independant for 50 years.. And there's a very long and winding ahead of us.. To talk about this issue will be another never ending story.. therefore we can only pray for the best!

Yummy Week!

Last week's makan makan expedition!! (chris..I know what you gonna say #%$$%#@)
Last Wednesday, we had steamboat buffet to celebrate the merdeka babies and of course to celebrate our country's merdeka day as well.. The food was yummy! We went to Yuen's Steamboat and surprisingly, after so long, the taste and varieties of food seems to be better. And of course the chicken wings is still the hot pick or shall I say the highlight of the whole dinner :) Thanks to slerk, mc and lsy we manage to grab a few rounds before we finally quit kekekeke..
Saturday(18/08) - It was mc's bday and we had a surprise bday party for him at redbox. I dunno whether we manage to keep the event a surprise or not but somehow.. who cares.. kekeke we actually celebrated mc and phavz and karl's bday with the same cake.. (haven't gotten the photos yet!) As usual, Aeroplane was holding onto the mic for the first one hour coz they were late.. Luckily they arrived and we manage to grab a few songs.. kekeke After that we proceed to 'The Apartment' for desserts.. Strawberry peach pavlova and Strawberry with mint cream.. can't really remember the exact names.. again.. superb! (at that moment, I did worry about my waistline though.. have to fit the gown.. kekeke)
Sunday(19/08) - Karl's bday.. me and Karl decided to treat our 4 other close frens for dinner at izzi.. First time there although been told by slerk n months ago.. kekeke.. Indeed a very nice place to go.. And the good news is, they are opening a new branch in Damansara Uptown! much nearer compared to Bukit Bintang.. The food was superb and I can say that the pasta there is better than Italiannis (somehow their food seems to lost their flavour compared to when it started operation).. And of course the price is so much cheaper becoz of the 50% discount.. We ordered 2 reg pizzas, 2 pastas, 1 lasagne, 1 baked potatoes, 1 plate chicken wings plus 6 drinks for only approximately rm100.. kekeke.. I guess it's not too bad.. will be going again next month but will try the damansara uptown outlet.. kekeke
Well, that's all for now.. This week will be the dieting week.. left 3 more weeks to go before the big day.. counting down every single day.. till then!

Team building.... :)

This month, Leesa started with a new theme.. "Team Building" :) Leesa, Slerk, MC, Phav, Lsy and I are super committed into this team building stuff.. I was abit sceptical about this at first as this is not my cup of tea.. But somehow, I got the first taste of it and wah la! I'm kinda addicted to it now.. kekeke.. It seems like back in the older days, in our old office where we used to hang out after office hours.. even Slerk don't rush back home anymore! muakakakaka..
