Should I or Shouldn't i?

I have had a lot of people comment on the fact that Tatum's ears are pierced.  I got them pierced when she was two weeks old.  And I am very glad that I did.  You see when Madisen was a baby I talked about getting her ears pierced, but I hesitated.  And then before I new it she was one

and I didn't want her playing with them.  So I waited until she was four.  Why Four?  That is the age that I got my ears pierced.  I did fine with mine other than the fact that my cousin decided to rip out my earring.(Maybe I should have taken that as a clue?)  But that's a whole other story.  Anyway, I realize now that I should have done it when she was baby, or waited until she was a little older (8 or 9).  We've had a lot of problems with her ears.  First her ears got infected (she has to have REAL gold), then one fell out and her ear closed.  She wouldn't let me get them pierced again until she was almost 6.  Then she decided to push her earrings very tight so

that they would not fall out again.  Her ears started to decay and they were going through her ears.  There was green stuff all around them and it looked like her earrings didn't have backs.  I thought I was going to have to have them surgically removed.  It was really gross, I ended up having to pull the back of her earring back through her ear.  It ended up being okay, and her ears are fine now, but it was more than I bargained for.

My mom is Cuba, and in the Hispanic culture you get your ears pierced at birth.  My mom and my Aunt both have their ears pierced and have never had any problems.  So I decided with Tatum that I would do them young.  You see they are never going to be a novelty because they have always been a part of her.  In short, I am for getting your babies ears pierced.  It's cute and they don't even know the earrings are there.  Plus you have less chance of them touching them or playing with them.

Did I mention they are really cute?!

Saturday Night Fun

Madisen has been begging us to go bowling for a couple of weeks now.  Trent was out of town all last week.  When he got home the kids wanted to do lots of things as a family.    So we took them bowling.  They had lots of fun.  They had bummers of course.  Madisen did really well and didn't want to leave when it was time.  Jaden was ready to go(no big surprise)but didn't start asking to leave until after the 1st game.  Which is huge for him.

Madisen got a lesson on how to hold a bowling ball.  I still forget she's left handed.  She always has to remind me.
Jaden could barley throw the ball, when he did it rolled very slowly and only knocked down 1 pin.  So he used this slid thing and rolled the ball down it.  He thought it was great.
Now you might ask what this picture is about.  While we were bowling Jaden looked up at the ceiling and saw this squishy thing stuck up there.  He turned to Trent and said "Dad I want that."

Trent looked up and saw what he was pointing at and brought it to my attention.  Jaden looked at me and said, "Mom, I don't think anyone wants it."   "Jaden it's too high daddy can't get it."  I said, very grateful that it was too high.  Just what I need another random thing at my house that Jaden collected.  I had to show the picture and tell the story.  It's classic Jaden.  He's always on the look out for little treasures he can bring home.

Kid shots

This is what happens when you kids get a hold of  your camera.

You get pictures of your kids making funny faces.
Your kids feel the need to take a picture of their valentine bag.
You get pictures of the art work you kids have done.  As if the art work it's self is not enough.
You get close up shots of Tatum's toys.
Half shots of themselves and who ever they are trying to shoot.
Lot's of pictures of the family dog, Buzz, I didn't realize he had green eyes.
Lots of pictures of the cute kids who take random shots.

Pictures of who ever comes to babysit.  I'm sure Celia loved this.
We can't forget The Little Mermaid.  Isn't that a masterpiece.

Thank you Madisen and Jaden for all the pictures!!!

Happy 9th Month

My baby is 9 months old.  I can't believe it's already been that long.  At 9 months Tatum is 16 lbs and 28 inches long.  Things Tatum can do at 9 months:

Sit up, Scoot, Eat table foot, roll to what she wants, laugh, sleep 8-9 nine hours at night, not take good naps, be really cute, love her brother and sister, find daddy when he makes the sound(click of the tongue).  We love our little Tatter bug.

Grandma Annie

Trent's mom and her husband came to visit this weekend.  The kids love their Grandma Annie.(Lee Ann)  My kids are 3 of the 4 grand children that she has.  Madisen is the first girl and Tatum is the 2nd.  Lee Ann did not have girls so Grandma likes to shop for them.  She took us to Target and bought me 2 shirts, Madisen 3 outfits and Tatum 3 out fits.  Jaden got some PJ's(Scooby Doo)which he loves because to him Jammies are like clothes, he doesn't get dressed unless he is going somewhere.  She did also get him a cute church outfit.  They also got to pick out a toy.  So in other words they got spoiled by their Grandma.  She also took us to Chuck E Cheese, where Jaden got to use his money he's been carrying around.  They also took Trent and I to Bing Crosby's which was nice.  It's been a while since Trent and I have been on a date.  Thank You Grandma and Charles for coming and spoiling us.

Valentine Chain

First I would like to start off by saying Trent and I don't have very many pictures with just us.  This is the best one I could find and it's in Hawaii last May.  Do you think we should take more pictures together?   This is a Valentine Chain, here it goes:
Who is your Valentine?  Trent, he has been for 8 years(9 in April)
How long did you date?  About a year, but we were engaged within 4 months.
How old is he?  33
Who eats more sweets?  He does, just barely
Who said I love you first?  He did
Who is taller?  Um...He is by a lot.  I'm 5'5 and he's 6'2
Who can sing better?  About the same
Who is smarter?  Good question, I'd say that we are equal in intellect although I'm sure he's more knowledgeable in some area's then I am and vice versa.
Who does the laundry? This is a very sore topic for us.  I do the laundry, I've banned him from touching it, although he still tries every once in while.
Who pays the bills?  Me
Who mows the lawn?  Trent did when we lived in So. Cal, but now our landlord does.
Who cooks dinner?  I do, but Trent helps if he's home.
Who drives?  Trent
Who is more stubborn?  That's debatable, we are both first born children need I say more?
Who kissed who first?  Trent kissed me, I never kissed boys they had to kiss me.
Who asked who out first?  Well, we never had a real first date.  We hung out with friends mostly, but Trent payed for my movie the first time we went, it was with a bunch of friends.  We call is our first unoffical date.
Who proposed?  Trent did.  We went to Ensenada, Mexcio with my family and he proposed by writing, will you marry me.  In the sand.  It was very sweet.
Who has more siblings?  He does, I have 2 he has 5
Who wears the pants?  I do
Who says I love you more?  me

The Homec Life

Tatum has started to sit up without help this week.  It's so exciting.  She still falls over after about a minute.  When I took these pictures she was like that for a couple of minutes.  I've just come to grips with the fact that I can only get a 45 min nap out of her.  But she takes 4 of them.  And she's up 2 hours in between each nap.  I think it's the best I can do at this point.  Hopefully sometime in the future It'll get better but for now, I'll take it.

For the past couple of weeks Jaden has used my room as his playroom.  He builds himself a fort and brings what ever toys he wants to play with up to my room and then watches the corresponding movie.  By the end of the week my room looks like a bomb went of in it.  He has
toys all over and whatever else he's brought in.  When I went to take some pictures of it, I was too late, Trent had cleaned it up.  This is Jaden in his pillow fort.  Jaden also informed me this week that when he was Madisen's age he use to always get sick.  I think he's a little confused considering he's 4 and she's 7.

Madisen was the Star of the week in her 1st grade class this week.  She was so excited when she brought her poster home.  She colored it and wrote all her favorite things and then we put a picture of her on it.  One of the perks of being the star of the week is that on Friday you get to bring something into the class to share.  Well, this mommy forgot all about it.  So did Madisen.  Poor thing went to school without her share and when the teacher asked her about it she was very sad.  She almost cried.  I feel so bad.  Being the mom, I feel like I should have reminded her.  She is only in first grade and she is very forgetful.  She has been looking forward to it all year then when she gets chance her mom messes up big time.  It didn't help that her teacher forgot to have the class read the things that they wrote about Madisen.  Poor little thing.  Oh yeah and she was sick all day yesterday.  She threw up all day long.  She did get a Valentine card from her Great Grandma Homec with $10 though so at least she had one thing to smile about.

Happy Turtle

This is Happy Turtle, Jaden gave him this name because he said it was happy.  Grandma Annie gave him Happy Turtle last summer, and it was a huge hit.  He carries Happy Turtle everywhere he goes(he usually leaves him in the car, so that he won't get lost) and put's his most treasured toys in it.

This weeks treasures are his Chicken Little toys,(he's been watching the movie all week!)his chap stick's(he needs 2 just in case)and 2 chuckEcheese coin's(you never know when you might need chuckECheese coin's)

They Romney bunch

My Aunt Becky just sent me this picture.  It was kind of fun for me to see what my Nana and Grandpa looked like when they were younger.  Grandpa looks the same but older.  He's not married to Nana anymore.  In fact, I never new them married.  Anyway I thought I'd share.  My dad is the little boy in the front.  I think Jaden has his eyes.  What do you think?  Missing is Aunt Celeste.

He's done it again!

I know that I have done a post about my son's random sleeping spots.  But today he top them all.  I got home from picking Madisen up from school and Jaden had fallen asleep in the car. I was on the phone so I walked in the house finished my phone call and went out to get him and he was gone.  I asked Madisen where Jaden was and she said that he woke up and came inside.  So I started to go upstairs to his lair(my room, which is a whole other post) and on the way up I found him, asleep on the stairs.  I couldn't resist. I had to share.

The Homec life

This week Tatum started getting more adventurous with finger foods.  And she loves to drink whatever we are drinking.  She's been moving around more and she's sitting up a little better.  She also loves to play with the remote control and my cell phone.

Jaden always wants Trent to take him to school, but because Jaden doesn't go to preschool until 10:30 Trent usually can't.  But this week Daddy took Jaden to preschool on Tuesday and Thursday.  He was so excited that daddy took him.
Jaden also played with my camera at the first grade musical.  He took lots of pictures of himself.  But this one was by far my favorite.
Madisen had her first grade musical on Thursday night.  She was so excited.  She looked so cute sitting on the stage singing.  She did very well with her line.  We were very proud of her.  She is growing up so fast.  It's still hard for me to believe that I have a 1st grader.  But it's been so fun to watch her grow.  She is a wonderful little girl, and she loves her brother and sister very much.

The Typical Friday night

When we lived in So. Cal, a typical Friday night was going to the mall to have dinner and window shop.  It was a good old stand by when we wanted to get out of the house, but not spend a lot of money.  When we moved to Brentwood, we tried it once, we went to the Antioch Mall and quickly found that it was a not a good idea.  So, we've been trying to figure out what our new standby could be.  Well, Friday we tried the mall in Tracy, while it is a small mall with Sears, and Gottchalks as department stores, it served it's purpose.  We ate at the food court, the kids rode the carousel and played on the toys. And Trent and I got to window shop.  I even got a couple of things at Old Navy.  Aren't we an exciting bunch?
