Phenomenal Women!!!!

Just read this poem on my sister's work blog.....just what I needed to read and share with other phenomenal women that I know! Enjoy and don't EVER forget what you as a woman have to offer!!!

Phenomenal Woman
by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Grandma Ann....

I am missing this classy lady today, for oh so many reasons! I so badly want to drove down to her place and have a chat like the good old days! And of course it would be complete with a treat! She always knew just what to say to make me feel better about life. She told me how great I was even when I didn't always see it myself! And she sure knew how to make me see the positive in life. So since she isn't here anymore I decided to buy something that reminded me of her....stopped at the store and bought me a rose bush for my desk. Its helping already!

Here is a fun tribute that my sister wrote about Grandma.

I also decided a few days ago to start reading the history of my grandparents again. Started with Grandpa John's. I already have learned things I didn't know or simply had forgotten! What a great heritage I come from! I have many of the traits of Grandma Ann but it has been neat to read a little of my Great Grandma Larson and see that I have some of her traits as well! How did I get to be so lucky?? Feeling proud to be a who I am....a product of those who have gone before!

Thankful today for my heritage and hope I can live up to it!!
