BlogLAZY

Yes folks...that's what I've been...blogLAZY! I haven't posted at all this month and have barely looked at all ya'll's blogs. Shame on me. Here's some of what we've been up to here at the Weenig house: Daddy Daughter Dates...
Sammy turned eight and her first Activity Day's Activity was a Daddy Daughter Date. Sammy was unbelievably excited to go out with her Dad. She made SURE he opened the door for her (good job Sammy!)
Easter with the ALL the Weenigs!
Paul, Tammi, Marcus, and the Weenig Cousins joined us for a Easter Brunch Waffle Bar and an Easter Egg Hunt in the backyard. I'm still dreaming about the Buttermilk Syrup-YUM.
Spring Break found us at the movies-we saw Hannah Montana, Race to Witch Mountain, and Monsters vs. Aliens-at the Beach (extreme whiteness prevented me from taking any pictures)- and at the Bowling Alley...
Spencer was the MAN and hiked San Jacinto (along with Matt who is still sore)
Like Father, Like Son
While the boys were off enjoying the wilderness, the rest of us enjoyed a fabulous "staycation" slumber party with the Hazens-complete with dessert in bed, lots of tv time, the beach, the movies and of course, lots of giggles. It was a great break from the daily grind, but I admit I almost wept tears of joy today when they all went back to school (Bad Mommy-I know). ***In medical news (boy I'm sure sick of this!) my tests came back negative for Lupus (yea!) and inconclusive for Metabolic Syndrome (my sugar levels were barely in the pre-diabetic category). I'm hoping my nose surgery (decided to go the non-cosmetic route on that one-my nose is relatively cute and not worth spending more money on than I have to) will fix the sleep apnea and all of my problems will go away-here's to hoping!

Little Child Dressed In White

What a bittersweet day today. Our youngest is now the age to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are so proud of her decision to be baptized and her willingness to learn the gospel. We just can't believe our littlest one is old enough to make this important decision. Sniff. We had a WONDERFUL day with lots of family and friends. Sammy's daddy was able to baptize her while her grandpa's witnessed; Grandma Gardner was able to talk about baptism and Papa Paul gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. Papa Rick confirmed her a member. Mommy cried.
My sweet Sammy girl, you have been such a joy in our lives. You are the perfect "ending" to our family and will always be our baby girl. We are so proud to be your parents. You were born smiling and haven't stopped since. We love you Sammy.

And That's Why He's My "Favorite"

I received this in my email today...made my day. I wanted to tell both of you what a wonderful young man Spencer is and what a joy it was working with him on Tuesday. He was by far the best worker in the group. He had a great attitude, was quick to think of solutions to problems, was eager to do a good job...even when it meant figuring out how to get a BIG rock up the hill, and he never slacked off of the task at hand. He never looked for the easy way out of doing work, he never once just stood around while the others were working and he gave the job 100% for the whole time he was here. Matt, I am sure you have worked with those boys enough to know who does what; but you may not have had the opportunity to see how Spencer handles thngs when you are not around; and more importantly, how he handles himself when others are not exactly focused on doing a hard job well. He is a great young man and I hope you tell him that I wrote you this note. And, if you think he would like to hear it from me...I will be happy to send him an email. Even at the point when a couple of the others were talking on cell phones and I said..."hey, what's this....I am the Grandma here, why am I working and you are not?" Spencer was right there with me working. I do have some more work that we can do....we pruned a couple of trees and that exposed some more space where I would like to put some rocks. If that young man who was not able to come would like to come over, I will be happy to work my schedule around his. And, if Spencer needs to do more work....he could certainly supervise the situation. Wonder if that is a reward or a punishment for doing a good job? Thanks for getting the boys here, and I really am grateful for all their help. It is not that any of them were irresponsbile, they are all 12 year old boys; but, there was definitely a difference between the others and Spencer...good work Mom and Dad!!! But, then, I am not surprised!
