Lovely Laurels

One of the highlights of my summer was spending a day at the beach with these gorgeous ladies. Jenny, April, and I grew up together and Alyssa moved to San Juan in High School. Man, do we have stories! Alyssa (beautiful girl in the middle) has spent the last 12? years living abroad in England, Ireland, and now in China. April happened to be down for a visit from Utah and we planned a get together and it ACTUALLY HAPPENED. What a miracle. I have to admit, I was a little nervous seeing friends I haven't seen in a long time for a beach day. There's really no way to hide your deepest insecurites (ahem, being in a bathingsuit) when you're at the beach. Of course I was silly to worry as true friends never change and never stop loving you! It was like old times-talking, laughing, and enjoying each other and all the kiddos. Thanks girls for a fabulous day!

No Doubt

Me and My Sexy Man
Fun Group!
Cheeseballs!
Amidst running kids around to the beach, playdates (I hate that word), swimming pools, family vacations, etc. this summer- the grownups got away to enjoy a concert. We got grass seats to see No Doubt and enjoyed the music, each other, and the sweet smell of pot in the air :) Such a great time! Thanks guys.

Happy Birthday Spencer Man!

I can't believe I now have TWO teenagers in the house! My sweet Spencer turned 13. What a cute guy. I keep waiting for him to go through a stinker stage and it hasn't happened yet. I will never forget the day I gave birth to my first son. It was Matt's birthday and Spencer wasn't due for another 10 days. We had gone to brunch at El Torito Grill (yummy!) with Paul to celebrate Matt's 25th birthday and when we got home I laid down to rest (I was supposed to be on bedrest). Matt headed off to church with Hailey. I woke up about an hour later and realized that I hadn't felt Spencer move in HOURS. I drank some juice and laid back down and tried to get him to start kicking-nothing. I called Dr. Winter and he said to come right in. I was so scared! I drove myself to the hospital (everyone was at church) and tried to get a hold of Matt on the cell phone. Right as I was pulling into the hospital, I felt a reassuring little kick. As I pulled in, Dr. Winter was waiting in the parking lot for me (I LOVE him) and I told him I had just felt you kick. He looked very relieved and told me to come in anyway so we could check you out. I got all hooked up and he said I was having some pretty strong contractions and already dilated to a four. Then he asked me if I'd like to have a baby today. Ummm....yea! By this time, Mom had left church and met me at the hospital; Matt had been waiting to hear. I called Matt and asked him if he wanted another birthday present...his first boy! Hillary watched little Hailey girl for us and the whole "fandamily" showed up at the hospital. My mom, dad, Jennifer, and Amanda stayed in the room the whole time. Paul, Chelsea, Shirlyn, Keith and lots of the Weenig cousins were there as well. It was a party. I was trying to give birth to this little guy without drugs, so I was desperately trying to focus-not very easy with Matt running in and out of the room every five minutes and various family members coming in. I'll never forget Paul coming in with a HUGE bucket of popcorn for me and standing right in front of my "focus point" in the middle of the WORST contraction! I can laugh now...I made it to a "9" and then was in horrible pain. Matt keep saying, "JUST TAKE THE DRUGS!" I caved. I have never felt so relieved in my life. Because I was now "comfortable"-they didn't have me start pushing for another 45 minutes and then he practically slipped out. At 6lbs. 3 oz.'s he was a tiny little guy. Mom said, "he's not cooked yet!" He was so skinny his skin was hanging off him. After checking him out, our pediatrician said he was earlier than 10 days-more like 2-3 weeks. I fattened him up really quickly though. Spencer has been such a wonderful addition to our family and such a joy in our lives. He is the sweetest, smiliest, kindest boy. We love you Spencer.
