Here's what you've been missin', Dad

I've been on a few bike rides with Mom and Ginka. Those short shorts were Mom's idea. She thinks I'm still a baby.

Mom hasn't cooked all week- she just gives me yogurt and crackers.

I'm still playing with the kitchen, but I can cook more stuff now.

Oh, and I used your toothbrush...

Cookin' with G

This chicken he's eating did not come from KFC. No, sir. It came straight from Grant's new state-of-the-art play kitchen. Don't tell him, but it's not exactly new. I scored it from Craig's list the other day for $30. I'm pretty sure it's never been played with before we strapped it to our car and took it home. He plays with it every day now and cooks anything from hot dogs to macaroni to blankets (yes, he loves "microwaving" his Ginka... aka blanket).

"Mmm... thank you."

"Hey, wait a second. What are you trying to pull? My chicken is so tough and it tastes like someone has already licked it. I need a new one, please."

"Okay, I'll just put this in the sink and let it soak for a while. Then I'll smash it with my phone."

"Hello? No, lady. I'm still soaking your chicken... do you want some macaroni or blanket while you're waiting?"

Like father, like son

This is for you, Dorothy. Here are both of your boys, just born 2 1/2 decades apart.

Good Friday

Last Friday, Will had the day off, so we played... all day. We first went hiking at Camelback Mountain. We chose the more challenging hike that was more like boulder climbing. Everyone on the hike kept giving Will reason to believe he was the toughest, manliest man of all. He was the ONLY hiker out of the many hundreds we passed that day (yes, it's apparently a very popular spot for teens and tourists) that was carrying a child.

Grant doesn't exactly fit in a baby carrier anymore, but we made it work...

And gave him a few breaks of shear freedom, watched over carefully by his Dad. Those we passed thought G had hiked that whole way by himself. G is hard-core.

This little scramble as FUN and Will loved the extra 35 pounds on his back. What a man! We let Grant boulder around once we got closer to the top.

This was our mile walk back to the car. There was no parking anywhere close to the trailhead, so we parked in the richy rich neighborhood, while everyone else waited hours for a parking spot... those were probably the people who never made it to the top.

We were starving because the hike took longer than we thought. So, we went to an all you can eat salad bar, Sweet Tomatoes and stuffed ourselves with salad (and bread and ice cream). There was a nice park close by that Grant found. We let him chase the ducks and try his best at catching them.

We love a fun day of outdoor adventure!

Nature's surprise

Yesterday morning, Will and I went out back to start our exercise video. These flowers caught us off guard and both of us said "Woooo... where did those come from??" Honestly, these flowers are bigger than my head and unlike any other flowers I've ever seen. I want to cut them and put them in glass bowls all over the house! I hope they stay for a while...
