San Diego trip

We had to escape the heat for a few days, so we
made a quick get-away to San Diego. We lucked out with gorgeous weather... 73 and sunny. Will and I attempted our 20 mile run, but due to the unforseen hills, we cut it to 15. Of course we still rewarded ourselves with our favorite breakfast place in the country: Beachbreak Cafe! You gotta go! I had the most incredible veggie omlet ever and Will had crunchy french toast. Sometimes we talk about going to Southern Cal just to have breakfast.

Then it was PLAY TIME.

Grant couldn't be happier digging in the sand. Will went boogie boarding with his brother in the 58 degree water. I attempted... 3 times and sreamed like a little girl. I got in to my chest and couldn't stand it any longer. Numb is no fun.

Playing with Aunt Bri and Counsin Celia...

We stopped by the temple before heading back to AZ. It was magnificent!

We had a VERY pleasant drive home!

Still potty training...

He's gonna kill me when he gets older... but these are definately picture moments. And he insists on reading the papers or having his cars "watch him" when he goes. Good stuff, I tell you. I must say that yesterday, when I was running out the door to go to a stake meeting, I was so DONE with potty training. Grant sat on the toilet and soon said "All done, Mom..." Like a fool, I believed him. I told him to run and grab a diaper for bedtime. Then I heard it! The splat and the cry that followed--- all over the floor! When I tried to clean him up, he was crying in the tub, saying, "I wanna see it! Please!" Really, Grant?? This doesn't last forever, does it?

Will's Birthday... and unexpected surprises

Will turned 30 on the 23rd! I didn't plan any big birthday bash, just some free meals and a decadent cheesecake. He took the day off, so we could all hang out. He helped me make the cheesecake, then we rushed off for a late breakfast. Before I tell you about the next adventure, let me just say that this picture confesses mistake number one...

Anytime we're getting ready to leave somewhere, Grant takes the keys, puts them in the ignition and "drives" while we finish getting everything ready. Well, we were just leaving to go shopping and Grant decided to "drive." Will shut the door and Grant immediately locked it. "Hee. Hee. Fun!" He was all smiles as we tried to coax him out. And even though he has used the remote to unlock the car several times, the heat must have gotten to him because he did NOT unlock it. Luckily, Will made an extra set of keys last month for moments like this. Unluckily, those were in my purse... in the car. Anyone who's every been to AZ in August knows it's uninhabitable and can get up to 150 degrees in a locked car. So, after 10 minutes and a very sweaty, now crying boy, we called the police. In 1 minute, we had 2 cop cars, an ambulance, a firetruck and 20 big men at our house. The policeman smashed the window and Grant was rescued. After a cold bath and a few temperature readings, they let him sit in the firetruck and gave him his own hat. He hasn't really taken it off yet...

We still had time for a little fun at Bounce Jungle. It's for toddlers, but we liked it just as much as Grant did.

Oreo cheesecake with ganache topping!

Happy, Birthday Will! You've accomplished alot in just 30 years. You are the sweetest husband and the best dad in the whole galaxy! We love you always and forever
