Random Act of Kindness

Last night Matt and I met at Pei Wei after work for dinner. After finishing we both needed to get gas - so we stopped by Costco on our way home. There was a gentleman filling up his car in front of me. While Matt was walking back to his car, the guy asked Matt what we were doing tonight. Matt replied that we didn't have anything going on. The nice guy asked if we wanted to go to the Mavs game. He was on the way to the game with his daughter, but with the cold front that just blew it, he didn't feel it was worth getting her out in this weather. He had two court side tickets and a parking pass. We asked him if we could give him anything....he said just to send him a thank you note. So Matt and I dropped off one of the cars and headed to the American Airlines Center to watch the Mavs court side!

The tickets were amazing! They were right by the tunnel that the Mavs run on and off the court. After the 2nd quarter I got to give all the players a high-five as they left the court. At the end of the game we both got to give every player a high-five as they left. I gave Dirk a high-five and then pat on his sweaty bicep and told him good game! It was a great game....and the MAVS won!

Our new friend also liked Matt's shirt...maybe that helped us out a little :)

JET getting the crowd excited!

The nice guy will never know how much it meant to us...we have been fortunate to attend a few games a year and hadn't been this year yet. I have always wanted to sit court side....who would have thought that some nice guy filling up his car at Costco would give us his tickets!

It goes to show you that there are still people who do random acts of kindness....

Leaving on a jet plane....

Tomorrow I will be departing to lovely Miami for the Bud Light Port Paradise Cruise - my last work trip of the year! I am very excited to have some time regroup and refocus after this trip. It has been a very busy fall which I am very grateful. However, I am ready to be able to focus all my attention back to my hubby, who knows, I may start cooking dinner again :)

I will leave you with a before and after picture from last year....

Wish me luck!

We got SOLD.....

On the Sham Wow!

Grapefest was this weekend, we went Friday night. As we were walking thru all the booths one caught our eye. It was a generic brand of Sham Wow. They did the whole demonstration as they do on TV. It was amazing - we were all very excited. As he finished his demonstration he started talking about the pricing. On TV you get a bundle of Sham Wow's for $19.95 - right now they are offering a special of 2 bundles for the price of one. "But if you are one of the next four people to purchase one right now, you will get THREE bundles for only $19.95." We all looked at each other and were sold! We each got one bundle for $7....what a deal!

The guys couldn't believe how bad we got sold on the generic sham wow...but we are very exicted about our new purchase!

Cesky Krumlov

We are home from our trip to Prague and Munich - finally have a little time to post some of the pictures.

Matt's first day in Prague, he went exploring with another husband whose wife was working with me. They literally walked all of Prague that one day! Here a few pictures from his adventure...

Our first day together Matt was a great sport and we took a bus with 14 other girls I work with to Cesky Krumlov - a gorgeous town 3 hours south of Prague. Here are some pictures....

Thankful...

...for a wonderful loving husband, great supportive parents and mother-in-law!
Saturday morning I woke up with a mission...finish the right side flower bed. So we got up, had a little cereal and started tearing out the old plants in the flower bed. I was ready for some flowers in the front.

Matt and I worked a couple hours ripping everything out. Then came the hard part - what to put in back in the flower bed.
Here is the picture of the flower bed after tearing out the back layer....

So off to the nurseries - three hours later, five nurseries later we have purchased plants and flowers. We return home and start working.... not even being home for 10 minutes, I come down with a migrane and have to leave Matt working in the yard while I go lay down.

I curl up on the floor - doing everything to get rid of my migrane...finally I feel better. So I head outside to start helping.

Much to my suprise and amazment the flower bed is done! With the help of my parents, mother-in-law, GG - the supervisor, and my wonderful husband (who was missing the Mavs game) they finished my project.
And it turned out amazing! The house looks great now - can't wait to finish the left side. Below is a picture of the finished work....

Thanks for everyone's help! It looks amazing!! Love yall!!

New Furniture

We have been busy putting things up on the wall and looking for furniture...

Our love seat was finally delivered! We also found table & chairs for the breakfast nook - it is starting to come together!!

Here are some pictures....

We also got a new rocker for outside...currently it has been sitting in the breakfast nook b/c of all the rain! As you can see it in the picture.

More to come soon!

Productive Weekend... (part 2)

So this is too funny not to post....

Last weekend while Matt was installing the TV above the mantel he had to drill inside the wall thru a couple of 2 by 4.

He made it thru the first one and then thought the second one was a little too easy. So he went outside to make sure it didn't go thru the roof. As you can tell from the picture below....

...his new drill bit popped out right next to the chimney! We have a nice 1" hole going thru our roof and shingles.

Who knew that Lowe's has a whole section dedicated to roof and shingle repairs!

Productive Weekend...

We started the weekend off with Tour Dallas, a 30 mile bike ride thru Downtown Dallas, around White Rock Lake and back. It is a beautiful ride with thousands of cyclist of all ages and levels.

This is a picture of us getting ready to ride....

As you can tell I am more worried about taking a picture then actually getting ready to ride :)

After some pizza and a nice nap - we started our weekend projects.

Lindsay's Goal: Clean up the front trees and bushes to make the house more visible and bring light into the front rooms.

Matt's Goal: Install TV above the fireplace and run all wires thru the attic.

Here is a before picture of the yard....

The next two were taken after the first phase - trimming the trees up. Now you can actually tell there are windows on the front of the house!

These pictures were taken after we pulled out the middle row of bushes

Next step - transplant front row and add flowers! Maybe next weekend....

Here is Matt's project finished:

All in all a fun productive weekend!

Week 4...Hail Storm

The fun continues... we had our first hail storm Monday night.

Luckily the hail didn't get any larger than the occasional ping pong ball size - most was marble size. But it was coming down and hitting the windows like nothing I have heard. It was fun to watch what mother nature can do.

Here are some pictures of Matt holding a couple of samples :)

This is the size when it first started....
This is a picture from the front porch...

Then they started getting a little bigger - but this was the largest.

After the hail stopped, the rain continued and we had a little river form in the back yard....
