Airplane Museum

Yesturday, we went to the Frontier Airplane Museum at Love Field Airport with a few friends in our ward. It was pretty cool. They had lots of old and new planes there for the kids to check out. The boys, of course, love anything to do with airplanes, so it was a definate hit.

The picture on the bottom right is of the actual Apollo 7 that orbited the earth for 10 days. The museum has it on loan from the Smithsonian.

The Baby's Room

For the past week, Phil and I have been working on getting the baby's room painted and put together. Phil was really good to do most of the painting for me. (He knew how much I wanted it all done before the baby got here). Since, we are using the same bedding we've used with the other boys, we thought we'd change things up with the painting. So, I decided that I wanted to attempt stripes. It was kind of a pain, but I think it was worth it and turned out really cute! I still have a few things that I need to do- hang some curtains and once we figure out a name, I want to hang the name in individual letters above the crib. But, other than that, we're all done!

Not in my backyard

Yesterday morning Landen yelled down from upstairs that there was a snake. I immediately thought it was in our house, but thankfully it was outside next to the neighbor’s house. So I looked out of the window and sure enough there was a three foot snake slithering back and forth in the grass. He did that for about 15 minutes, and then went into our neighbor’s backyard. It came back out for a brief appearance and then went into OUR backyard! We haven’t seen it since and hope we never do.

Landen wanted to feed it and capture it to keep as a pet. He got a resounding “no” from me on that one.

With the help of Google Phil thinks it’s a Texas Rat Snake. They’re not poisonous but are very aggressive towards people. They coil up before they strike and shake the end of their tail as if they’re a rattlesnake (no rattle though). They don’t have very sharp teeth so they’re bites don’t always break the skin. Regardless, we’d rather read about it rather than find that out for ourselves.

Landen's T- Ball- Batter Up!

Landen is taking a T-ball class this summer through the Rec Center. His first class was today. He hasn't ever played T-ball before, but I think he really liked it. He was very excited about getting a baseball glove and new ball. He did a great job today!

WICKED and San Antonio!

For my birthday, Phil surprised me and bought me tickets to Wicked, which was coming to San Antonio in June. I had told him a long time ago that I wanted tickets for my birthday, but with moving and a new house, I had kind of given up on that idea. But, he did it anyways (which I was very glad that he did). My good friend Misty, from Arizona, flew out to Dallas and we were able to go together.

Since, San Antonio is just a quick trip and the theater was right downtown by some of the tourist sights, Phil and the boys decided to tag along. We all flew down to San Antonio Saturday morning and took a bus down town. We grabbed some lunch at the mall right downtown and then saw some of the sights. We got to see the Riverwalk and the Alamo. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures because my camara and cell phone got stollen while we were there. I accidently left my purse at the mall (I blame it on pregnancy brain!) and luckily it got turned into security, but they failed to turn in all the contents of it- the camara (only a month old) and my cell phone were both missing. However, my wallet and all my money and credit cards were still there- so that was one good thing (not sure how I would have flown home w/o my ID).

Anyways, that put a bit of a damper on the day, but not enough to ruin Wicked for me. Misty and I went to see the show (Phil and the boys went and saw Up) and it was amazing. I absolutely loved it. It was at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio which is the coolest theater I've ever seen! The sets, costumes, dancing, singing, acting- EVERYTHING was awesome. I can't wait till it comes back and I can go again! I have to say that it is definately up there with Phantom of the Opera as my favorite musical I've seen!

After the show, we all caught a cab and headed back to the airport. Misty flew back to Phoenix and we flew home to Dallas. I felt a little bit like Pretty Woman- flying to another destination to go to a musical and then flying home. It was a lot of fun- my last hurrah before the baby comes.

Misty- Thanks for coming out to go with me. I had a blast with you!
Phil- THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the tickets. It was the best present and I loved it!

Nathan's Soccer

We signed Nate up for a little soccer class through the rec center here. He's been begging to play soccer for a while now, but he can't play in a league for another year. So, this is the best we could do for him. Yesturday was his first class. He was so excited about it. I kept lecturing him all day that he needs to "listen to his teacher and do what she says and to wait his turn." (I was a bit nervous to see how he did in a class- since he doesn't sit still very well or listen well). Anyways, he had a lot of fun and did really good at the soccer part- the listening to his teacher part was another story, but hopefully he'll learn!

In action!

Here he is throwing his little fit when we took his soccer ball away. He wouldn't leave his ball alone. The teacher only wanted to use one ball and unfortunately it wasn't Nathan's ball she chose. Well, he kept going to get his ball and then running around kicking his ball, instead of doing what the teacher wanted him to. So, we confiscated it and it resulted in a minor melt down! But, he got over it quickly and was back to having fun!

Landen's Preschool Picnic/ Mini Graduation

Last Thursday, May 28th, Landen had his end of the year preschool picnic.  It was a lot of fun.  The kids all got to play and hang out and they had lots of yummy finger foods to munch on.  Then, they had a little program.  Landen's class sang a few songs they'd been working on.  It was really cute and Landen was so excited to show off his songs.  He did a great job!  Then, his teacher Ms. McCutchen handed out their little graduation certificates and their memory books and the Year in Review DVD.  Landen had a great time at Panther Preschool this year and he is excited about kindergarten next year.  I know he'll do great with kindergarten- he is definately ready.  I haven't been sad at all about him starting elementary school next year, but I did get a little emotional at this preschool graduation realizing it was his last day of preschool.  After that, he's on to elementary school.  It's just a big step in his life and it makes me realize how fast he is growing up!  We sure are proud of you Landen and we love you!

Here's our little graduate!
