Landen's 1st day of Kindergarten!

Today was Landen's 1st day of Kindergarten. He is going to Chandler Elementary this year and his teacher is Mrs. Jackson. He was very excited about starting Kindergarten. He loved going to "Meet the Teacher" last week and to see his classroom, desk, etc. Today, he was still excited but a little more nervous (as you can tell from the smile in his pictures). He went into his classroom just fine, hung his backpack up on his hook and went to his desk to start working on his "Welcome to Kindergarten" packet. He didn't say much the whole time. I was giving him a little pep talk and I noticed, he seemed a little bugged by it- so I asked him if he wanted us to leave and he said (a little annoyed), "Yes". I think this was the first of many times he'll be embarrassed by Phil and I. I was very proud of Landen for going to school with no problems and being so brave. I think he'll do great in Kindergarten and love it! It's kind of wierd not having him at home with us. I already miss him.

Notice how excited he looks!

Nate was so excited. He didn't want to wear flip flops but had to wear shoes like Landen.

Time goes by fast

Carter is already 4 weeks old. It seems like we just had him and now he's a month old. Time sure does go by fast! In some ways though, that's a good thing. It's been a bit of a challenge trying to entertain Landen and Nathan this summer since Carter has joined us. They are used to going and doing things everyday: swimming, park, play place, etc , and with a newborn in the house, we've had to stop all that and kind of stay home. Needless to say, the older boys haven't liked that much. So, I'm glad that the summer is coming to an end and Landen will be starting school next week. He's very ready for it and so am I. Here's some pictures of what we've been up to the past month, as well as some pictures of Carter.

We had to get a bit creative on things to do- since it's been so hot. Here the boys are "painting the driveway". (Thanks Misty for the idea.) Landen was upset he couldn't paint with "real" paint. Sorry- never going to happen!

Playing in the backyard on the Slip N' Slide. Today, they got creative with some friends and brought the slide from our swing set (that is yet to be put back together from the move) and put it at the start of the Slip N' Slide. They thought it was great fun!

Phil's parents came down when Carter was 5 days old to help us out and stayed for a few days. It was great to have them here. We put them to work cooking for us and entertaining the older boys. Here they are with all three of their Philip Gee grandsons.

Our attempt at a family picture. This is the best we could get- sad, but true. (I look horrible in this- I had just gotten out of the shower and still had wet hair)

Carter's Baby Announcements

My cousin's wife Whitney designed these awesome baby announcements for Carter. She did such a great job that I just had to post them on here and praise her a bit. I couldn't decide on one favorite, but I was able to narrow it down to these three. I think they turned out amazing and the best part was... I didn't have to do a thing!

Whitney just graduated from college and is starting up her own business with making wedding announcements, birth announcements, Christmas cards, birthdays invites...you name it, she can do it! Anyway, check out her blog for more info!

Carter's Newborn Pictures

Here are some pictures I took of Carter. He's 2 weeks old in the pictures. I got the idea from my old college roomate Natalie's baby's pictures. (Thanks Natalie! Hope you don't mind that I copied you.) I had Landen as my assistant and he was in charge of holding the light. He thought it was the worst job and camplained about it, but he made it through the whole 15 minutes I made him help me. (Rough life he has!) Anyways, for being a major amature, I though they turned out pretty good. It helps that the subject is such a cutie and also the darling idea!

I can't decide which one I like better- the black and white or the full color.

I can't believe I actually got him smiling in this one. Lucky!
