Day 1 Thursday, June 30th:
My Gillis grandparents were both turning 80 this year and celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. So, we thought this would be a perfect year for a family reunion. Since the majority of the Gillis' now live in Texas, we decided to have the reunion in San Antonio. Most of the family arrived in San Antonio on Wednesday, but since I had girls camp at the same time, we didn't get to San Antonio till Thurday at about dinner time. While planning the reunion, we really wanted to show off Texas. So, what better way than to enjoy some good Texas BBQ at Rudy's.
Day 2 Friday, July 1st:
SEA WORLD DAY!!!
At the Shark Tank
Boys feeding the dolphins
Enjoying the shows. We loved the Azul show and the Shamu show!
Cute cousins having fun together riding the rides.
It was such a hot day, but thank heavens Sea World has a water park. So, during the hottest part of the day, we decided to cool off at the Water Park. Cater and Phil decided to take a snooze instead. Carter slept for about 2 1/2 hours like that on Phil. He was worn out!
Day 3 Saturday, July 2nd:
We had a really nice luncheon for my grandparents to celebrate their birthdays and their anniversary. My cousin Summer planned it all and did an AMAZING job! We had it as this beautiful restaurant right on the Riverwalk called the Guenther House. We decided to have some family pictures taken before we had the luncheon. Here are some of the pictures...
The kids hanging out "patiently" waiting to get their pictures taken.
My cute grandparents.
My grandparents with all their great grandchildren. There were 15 kids 8 and under. It was quite comical trying to get this picture taken... and this is the best one I got!
My grandma with all the great grandchildren.
My grandpa with all his great grandsons.
My dad's immediate family.
My dad's immediate family with spouses.
My parents and their grandchildren.
Our little family.
At the luncheon.
My grandparents cutting their cake and feeding it to each other and then looking at the family history book my Aunt Caryn and cousin Sharlyn put together for them. I love the bottom left picture of my grandpa wiping away a tear. So sweet!
After the luncheon, we went and checked out the Alamo- because it wouldn't be a proper San Antonio trip without doing this! (Especially when it was 100 degrees outside!)
The sun was directly in our eyes- so that's why none of the boys are looking at the camera.
After the Alamo, we took a private riverwalk boat cruise. It was a lot of fun!
We had such a great time in San Antonio. It was so fun to get together with my extended Gillis family- some people I haven't seen in over 5 years. I am so fortunate to have such a great family. This reunion really reminded me of that!
