Trip to the Mall (Thanks Kate)

So thanks to Kate’s post about Dillards having there 40% off all sale items yesterday Blake and I ventured off to the mall. Thanks for the tip I found so many cute (cheap) clothes! I have needed to find something to wear because my good friend Kaydee is getting married TOMORROW! But the one thing that I found to wear to the wedding was not on sale. Go figure! I think that James is going to be in trouble because it seems like Blake doesn’t mind shopping with his momma! He was so good to sit up in his stroller and look around. As you will see in the picture below he has taken a liken to this cute checkered jacket. I must say he has pretty good taste because after I saw the price on that cute jacket I was quick to remove his hand off of it. This Ralph Lauren jacket was priced at a good $189.00!!! Thanks Blake but I better buy you diapers and formula first!

Blake And His New Horse

Sick Baby =(

We have had a pretty long week. To start, a week ago last Friday I picked Blake up from day care and was informed that there was a child that had gone home with RSV. If you are not familiar with RSV please read below in red:

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of respiratory illness in young children. RSV causes infection of the lungs and breathing passages. In adults, it may only produce symptoms of a common cold, such as a stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, mild headache, cough, fever, and a general feeling of being ill. But RSV infections can lead to other more serious illnesses in premature babies and kids with diseases that affect the lungs, heart, or immune system.
RSV is highly contagious, and can be spread through droplets containing the virus when a person coughs or sneezes. The virus can also live on surfaces such as countertops or doorknobs, and on hands and clothing. RSV can be easily spread when a person touches an object or surface contaminated with the virus. The infection can spread rapidly through schools and child-care centers. Infants often get it when older kids carry the virus home from school and pass it to them.

RSV infections often occur in epidemics that last from late fall through early spring. Respiratory illness caused by RSV — such as
bronchiolitis or pneumonia — usually lasts about a week, but some cases may last several weeks. Doctors typically diagnose RSV by taking a medical history and doing a physical exam. Generally, in healthy kids, it's not necessary to distinguish RSV from a common cold. But in cases where a child has other health conditions, a doctor might want to make a specific diagnosis. RSV is typically identified in nasal secretions, which can be collected either with a cotton swab or by suction through a bulb syringe.

When I picked him up last Friday I noticed that he had a bit of a cold so I decided that I would go ahead and take him in to have him checked out. We went in early Saturday morning to see the doctor and was told by the doctor on call ( which I will not mention any names but I will say that this doctor was no Dr. Sultemier) that it was just a cold. We were given an antihistamine and went home. I was relieved that it was just a cold but did feel like it was something more. As the weekend went on Blake got worse so I knew I needed to take him back in to see his doctor "Dr. Sultemier" on Monday. Dr. Sultemier told us that it was RSV and that his O2 stats were very low and we needed to get them up with some breathing treatments. We did two treatments in the office which brought his levels up. We continued to do the treatments at home every 2 hours and on Wednesday we decided to take Blake back in because he wasn't getting any better. After Dr. Sultemier looked and James and I and noticed how tired we both were and since Blake's levels were still low he wanted to admit him to the hospital. We went to the hospital at 11:00am Wednesday and after several test and treatments we were told that he had bronchiolitis a form of RSV. On Wednesday when we took him in his O2 level was around 89 (92 and below they admit to the hospital) and today it was up around 99! He was released from the hospital today and we are so thankful that he is feeling better! We are also so very blessed that we have Dr. Sultemier as his doctor.
