Lately...

It's been too long since I've posted. We've had a lot going on. Kayleigh is growing like a weed and at her 2 year check-up, the Dr was impressed with her vocabulary, using sentences, and the ability to since several songs. Life is crazy with her, but she makes us laugh and we wouldn't trade it for anything. :)

Kayleigh being her normal silly self.

Mike and I RIGHT AFTER the Rangers won the ALCS to go to their FIRST world series. If you didn't know already, we are HUGE baseball fans. Rangers are off to a good start for 2011!

I run for Mary and Margaret. Who do you run for?

For anyone who knows me and knows me well this blog post will completely make sense. For others, you might think that this is nice. Please take a moment to really read this.

While I worked for Starbucks, I had the wonderful opportunity to become involved with the Susan G Komen organization. See www.komentarrant.org for more information. Here's the story :

When I was in elementary school my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Its a scary thing as a child to hear that a loved one has a disease that could possibly kill them. She underwent a mastectomy. Luckily the cancer was found and treated early enough that she fully recovered. since that time as a child she has battled it again, undergone a 2nd mastectomy, and beaten it- AGAIN.

Then one day, we get a phone call. My mother in law had been diagnosed as well. As an adult, the true seriousness comes through. My mother in law opted for a double mastectomy for treatment. She was also blessed to have the cancer found and diagnosed early enough to be able to beat it.

These 2 women inspire me. Very much. Both have lived through a scenario that no woman would wish on another. It's because of them that my love and support of the Susan G komen mission to raise money and awareness of breast cancer treatment and research is very close to home.

I have been blessed with an opportunities in my adult life to meet very inspiring and strong women through  my interactions with the Susan G Komen organizations. There's nothing like being in a crowd of women, men, and children at the end of a SGK race- seeing the survivors of this awful disease in their hot pink shirts, hats, and bandanas. Mothers, daughters, sons, siblings all running for the same cause. Many people run for someone they have lost to the disease. Some like me run for someone who has surviced. Some are blessed to run BEACUSE THEY HAVE BEATEN IT!  These surviors gather at the end of a race. take off one or both shoes. Hold them in the air and yell their heads off. This is an amazing sight to see. The first time I was able to witness this was as a vendor with Starbucks providing coffe and hot chocolate to race participants. I stood there in awe. Crying with them as I they gathered and cheered. It has been since then that I have been a participant.

So here's my plan. I'm running the SGK 5K on April 9, 2011 in Fort Worth, TX. I'm going to do it in under 30 minutes and I want as many people on my team as possible.  All of us know someone who has either suffered from the diease or has  had a person close to them suffer from it.

So as the title of this posts says... I run for Mary Loveless and Margaret Hyatt. Who do you run for?

WILL YOU JOIN ME?

Whole lotta nothing... well sorta

The last few weeks have been spent with family time... a lot of it. We had my brother James, his fiancee (finally) Amy, Bella, Logan, Mom and Dad down for a fun but soaked weekend @ Six Flags. that same weekend Mike and I both got new cars.... Mine a MUCH needed upgrade and for him, he downsized to something a little more ecinomical.

Things have been going great- Just watching the little one grow like a weed! we go for the 18month appt and the first Dentist appt on the 22nd. Which also happens to be Mikes B-day! So a tleast after she gets shots, she'll get cheered up @ lunch by Daddy, and maybe even some ice cream... yes before the dentist. :)

we're looking forward to the rest of the summer. She's having a blast playing in her pool and enjoying the sun! More to come  leter with some updated pictures!

Larrins birthday

This weekend was also my best friends birthday party! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with some great fiends at Ruth Chris steakhouse! The food was wonderful! Here's a picture of Kayleigh and Daddy from that night!

And... I think it's time to get my daughter in a tumbling class.... this is her new favorite activity.

I find it very entertaining that she is perfectly happy sitting down and reading a book or "flipping". The other day she was sitting in a chair at the table flipping through a book while counting to 5. I guess she thought she was reading the book. :) I'm amazed at all of the stuff she can say and do. She can name Big Bird, Cookie monster, Elmo, Winnie the Phoo, Piglett and Tigger. She's too smart for her own good. AND she liked the creamed spinach at dinner on Saturday! How did we get to blessed?!?! Hope you are all having a good week!

Summer fun!

This past weekend was the start to our summer fun! We have a pool that mom and dad bought for us last year, but because of the slope on the back yard for drainage purposes, we haven't been able to utilize it much. So, it's for that reason that we went to Wal mart, and got Kayleigh on of those 10.00 blow up pools.... She LOVES it!!! These pictures reflect pure joy!!!

On my mind...

After spending a wonderful evening last night with friends celebrating the birthday of MY best friend, then seeing this post from and old friend from high school
Matthew 12:34 says that "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."So if you ever want to get to know someobody..listen to the words they are saying!! There mouth will tell you whats in their heart. Use wisdom to realize is this someone you need to be calling your friend! By the way you wouldn't want ignorant talk rubbing off on you, right?

It made me begin to think about what the people we were with last night mean to us. So to the Fords ( Both sets of you) Thank you for being friends that love us and out daughter. Thanks for making us laugh ad for laughing at us. :)

That's it for now, just wanted to post that.
