Preschool Co-op

We started preschool! Well, in our own special way we did. A few moms were sitting around chatting one day in August when one mom mentioned doing a preschool co-op. I put together a lesson plan outline and threw out some ideas for the curriculum structure. Then, we all got together and outlined the themes for the first semester and -- ta-da! We have preschool. There are two groups of 4-5 kids each. The kids are mostly 2-3 years old with the exception two 4 year olds (one in each group) that serve as our leaders. The kids meet once a week for two hours at a time and the location rotates so that each mom teaches approximately once a month. There are always two moms present, though, because each time you teach you have a helper (essential when you are a nursing mother!).

On the way to the first day of preschool!

The first class was the second week of October. When I went to pick up Brendan, I could not resist the chance to take a picture. The theme for the month of October is "How Things Grow". The topic that week was apples. They made an adorable craft, planted seeds in soil, read books about apples, ate apples for a snack, and much, much more. Brendan loved it!

The following week I was in charge. I was so busy the entire time I had kids that I completely forgot to take pictures! This one was taken the night before when I was setting out a few supplies. Can you guess my topic? Pumpkins! We learned several new adjectives to describe pumpkins, re-enacted how pumpkins grow, read stories about pumpkins, colored and decorated pumpkins, ate pumpkin bars, and had small pumpkins and real seeds to take home! I think the kids really liked it, and I had a blast teaching.

This week focused on Halloween! I can't wait to get pictures from the teacher!

Long and Lean!

I had my 4-month doctor's visit yesterday. I measured in the 78th percentile (26 inches), and weighed in the 9th percentile (13 pounds). We could not believe I was only the 9th percentile. I don't think I look skinny, do you (see recent pictures below)? The doctor said I looked perfectly healthy, so he is not worried. He just told Mom to try to keep me nursing as long as possible so that I could get all the nice fat that comes at the end of the feeding.

All smiles!

I found my feet a couple of weeks ago and have been grabbing for them ever since!

Hoping for a miracle...

VERSES

We had the Campas over a few weeks ago to watch the KY vs. FL game. I thought maybe there would be a miracle and KY would pull through... but it didn't happen. The game was pretty boring to watch, but the company and food were both great!

Cutest outfit ever

Mom dressed me for church on Sunday and then just about fell over backwards because she found me so incredibly cute. She wanted to get a good picture so she started making funny noises behind the camera. I found her hilarious and laughed until my eyes watered.

Uh-oh -- I am about to fall over. Snap quickly!

All smiles and milestones

I continue to be such a happy baby! I laugh all the time now, especially at mommy. She is glad at least one person finds her funny.

If you come toward me with a camera and/or barely smile in my direction, I will immediately smile at you. If you put me on a blanket, I will usually roll over in a matter of seconds. I started rolling over from tummy to back around 10 weeks. Tonight (about 15 weeks) was my first time rolling from my back to my tummy and I did it three times! YAY!

My big brother is starting to be much sweeter to me. Now that I can roll over very well and grip and swing at toys, I think I am becoming a bit more exciting to him. He likes to bring me toys, continuously yells, "Roll over, Hadley!", and often stops by to give me a kiss.

Although I have a growing interest in all toys right now, my hands are my absolute favorite. I love to turn and twist my hands, examine them, and suck on all five fingers at once.

I am quite intrigued by mirrors. Who is that good looking baby staring back at me?

What's up?

Gotcha, giraffe!

Making my first moves...
Baby Charlotte came over this weekend. She is one month younger than me. I thought she was pretty cute, so I rolled toward her, scooted in close, and gave my best smile. She found me irresistible and smiled right back.

How do I look?

First I dried my hair

Then I applied foundation make-up

Then I looked in the mirrow and said, "Ah! Brendan looks pretty!"
Side note to everyone: Although I DO dry my hair and I DO apply make-up, I DO NOT look in the mirror at the end and announce that I look pretty!! I am not sure where he got the last part.
