You fed her what?
Silly girl didn't like the broccoli - cauliflower I made her. It was only fork mashed instead of pureed so I think she didn't like the texture. I think it was Gwynn that was telling me about mixing fruit and veggies together so I added honeydew melon. She liked it and ate it all up. Go figure!
3 steps!!!!
After dinner we go to Kacey's room, change her diaper and get into jammies. She then spends 15-30 minutes crawling around her room playing with stuffed animals or reading books. Today she was playing with this little bear that Great Grandma Peggy gave her or Valentine's day. When you squeeze it's tummy it makes a smacking kiss sound. It cracks Kacey up. So she was holding it and I was squeezing it's tummy. She was standing and not paying attention to the standing so I backed up and she took 3 steps forward and then fell into my lap!!! The times she has taken one step have also been when she was holding something with both hands and just standing there not really thinking about it. So how much longer do you give her before she walks? One week? Two?
About those swim diapers...
I've had a couple of questions about what swim diapers we used. We got them from everydaydiapers.com and got the iPLAY ones. I had already gotten the suit at Tar.get so you can't see the adorable diaper very well. I did buy the next size up as well but in a swimsuit all in one! She will outgrow the current one sometime during summer so we will be set! I really like the iPLAY diaper and our whole group got them. Too bad I don't get a commission!

First swimming class and Dim Sum!
Yesterday was a big day! Kacey had her very first swimming class. I thought she would love it because she seems to really love water. The good news is that she really did love it!!! The bad news is she only loved it for about 5 minutes and it was a 30 minute class. The next 25 minutes included about 15 minutes worth of crying..... mamamamamamamamamamama!!!!! Jamie had a really good time with her though and was very good at distracting her and keeping her having as much fun as possible. I think she did best when it was unstructured and she could just enjoy the water. The class part, when Jamie was to move her arms or her legs or twirl her around, seemed to be when she didn't like it.
Looking quite adorable in her swimsuit!

Going in!

Having fun at the very beginning.

Our group. :)

Just relaxin and floatin....

All done and happy to be out of the pool!

I have several videos but this is the best one. It's from the beginning and Kacey is splashing around and enjoying herself. Jamie also gives her a mouthful of water a couple of times!
After class we all went out for Dim Sum. All 4 babies were very good! They seemed to enjoy looking at each other or something because none of them cried the whole time. It was way past Kacey's naptime and she handled it like a trooper. She was asleep within 5 seconds of getting in the car though!

First step!
We saw it! Jamie and I saw it! In the past couple of days her standing without holding onto anything has increased to about 10 seconds. A couple of days ago Jamie thought he saw a half step and I saw a 1/4 step. Today we both saw one full step!
I had a can of Dr P.epper (not yet open) and let Kacey hold it as she seems to like really cold things. She was standing and holding it without holding onto anything else, she then took a step towards me and then stopped to regain her balance and did not fall! She then got on her knees again without holding on. We were very impressed!
BTW, today is her 10 month birthday!

Another first....
Allergy that is. Kacey is definitely allergic to eggplant. The other day I was feeding her some and after a while I noticed her cheeks and around her lips were red and a slight bit puffy. She was enjoying the eggplant but I stopped feeding it to her anyway. I waited a few days and yesterday gave it to her again. I made sure her cheeks were nice and pale and her mouth the right shade of pink before I started and I kept an eye on them with every bite. After 5 or 6 bites she started to pink up again. I put a little bit of the eggplant on her arm, which she thought was very funny and waited a minute. Sure enough that spot on her arm got red and even grew a few little bumps! I stopped feeding her and dumped it out. I got the rest out of the freezer and dumped that too. It's too bad, because she really liked it! Good news is the red was pretty much gone within 30 minutes and she never got intestinally (did I just make up a word?) sick. Hopefully that is a first and a last in the realm of allergies.
Visiting my past....
I think I already mentioned that I got sucked into Fa.cebook several weeks ago. I know it took me a while (my mom was on it way before I was!) I have had alot of fun meeting up with some people from my past. In the last few weeks I have had lunch with a friend from high school and also my best friend from Kindergarten through Jr High (how did we ever lose touch?) I have also caught up with tons of people I hadn't heard from in 20 years. It's all a bit surreal and very fun!
Yesterday Kacey and I had a playdate at my friend Tami's house. She and I were friends back in elementary school and our moms were friends too! We hadn't seen each other in over 20 years either but through Fac.ebook I found out she lives about 5 minutes away. She has twin girls that are 2.5 and twin girls who are 2 weeks older than Kacey! Whew! I got to tell you though, she sure seems to have it all together and was great with her girls. Kacey had a lot of fun too and loved watching the older girls and playing with (I mean chewing on) their toys. It was a great afternoon.
On the flip side there are plenty of things better off left in your memories. They just aren't as good when you revisit them. Jamie made me watch Evil Dead with him once because he remembered it as one of his favorite movies. I don't think we watched more than 10 minutes of it! I've come across random things here or there (movies especially) that just aren't as good as you remember but one of the saddest disappointments happened this week.
Luck.y Charms were on sale at Vo.ns so in a momentary loss of judgment** I bought a box. I was so excited to eat a bowl the next morning. Jamie made fun of me of course. The first couple of bites were oh so yummy... and then they just started tasting like big bites of sugar. The worst part? After eating a whole bowl I was still hungry! They are not filling at all!!! So I suffered through a whole week of eating a bowl every day and being hungry afterwards because there was no way I was going to refill my bowl. I ate the last dreaded bit this morning and I am glad they are gone. Good riddance!!!
** I will admit that I have made this error before. When I first moved into my very own apartment when I was 26 (yeah, yeah, lived with mommy until I was 26!) I was very excited to go grocery shopping. We NEVER had sugar cereals or soda in the house growing up. So I bought Luc.ky Charms, Capt.ain Crunch, Dr. P.epper and C.oke. I was on a sugar high for weeks.I do remember the cereals losing their appeal pretty quickly though. Mom, in case I never said it before, thank you for not having this crap in the house when we were growing up.

Pretty nice...
For the past few days Kacey has been going into her crib awake for both naps and nighttime. She gets on her knees and watches me leave the room. Sometimes I can hear her chat for a few minutes but then it gets quiet. She hasn't cried when going into the crib for quite a while. I am enjoying it for however long it lasts!

OH MY!!! What a tantrum!!
Whew, we are in for a long 18 years! This afternoon Kacey woke from her nap in a very good mood. She woke up talking, not crying, which is usually a good sign. When I came in the room, she stood up and grinned from ear to ear. We were talking for a couple of minutes and then she got excited and fell down. She whacked her head really hard against the crib slats. Oh I knew it was a bad one. I picked her up and she was hysterical. Oh the poor thing!! I hugged and kissed her and we rocked for a bit and she finally calmed down. She then wanted on the floor and was playing and about 5 minutes later, WHACK! She falls against the door jamb. Hysterical crying again. We hug and kiss and rock for a bit and then all is good.
She crawls into the hallway and over to our bedroom. She got to the top of the stairs (there are 2 steps down into our room) and started to whine. I helped her get down and straight over to the desk she went. She starts whining and looking at the computer. I picked her up and told her we had to change her diaper first. As we walked out of the room all hell broke loose. She starts screaming and the tears!!! Oh my! She is arching her back to where she is parallel to the floor and screaming in such a banshee sort of way that there is only screeching coming out. She had gone past the point of being loud that it sounded like she lost her voice. I got her diaper changed but it was near impossible. How is it that a 19 pound little girl can be so strong and fight you so much when changing a diaper?
Finally I finish the diaper and we head to the rocker. It does no good, she continues to scream and arch her back, so I put her on the floor. She got on her hands and knees and pressed her forehead to the floor and continued screaming. I guess she hasn't figured out how to pound her fists and kick her feet yet! It was almost a text book tantrum! The whole thing went on for about 5 minutes.
Just to see what would happen, I picked her up and took her in our room. As soon as she saw the room she stopped crying. I sat us at the desk and she smiled.
Oh my.

2 stories to balance the above, she's not all bad you know ;)
Later in the afternoon, we were in the living room. I was laying on my back watching her and my shirt had ridden up a bit exposing my belly button. At some point she had crawled over to me and was poking my belly button. Very fascinated. She then bent over and licked it and proceeded to blow raspberries on my tummy. We both got a very good laugh out of it.
Her great grandma Hazel sent her a Lamb Chop puppet. Kacey loves it and smiles when she sees it. I was playing with it and at one point had it give me a hug and rest it's head on my shoulder. Kacey smiled real big, came over to me and rested her head on my shoulder. It was so sweet, it melted my heart.

In mommy hobby news!!! We finished the tv stand!!!! YAY!! It's beautiful and I love it! We brought it home on Saturday and got it all set up. I am so proud of the job Tom and I did and look forward to showing it off.

The beautiful feet that I hand cut!

Kacey wants in on the picture taking! A great shot of all 5 teeth!

And now it's time for some cute pics.
Today we went to my old work for lunch and there is a fountain out front. I let her look at it and she quickly decided to crawl up onto it and get herself soaking wet!!

Look at this cute butt!!! Hot pink!

She knows she is adorable!

Crawlin with her kitty and her monkey! Loves to take them everywhere!

Tooth # 5!!!
Yep, tooth #5 has been hiding just under the surface of her gum for a few days now and finally it popped through this morning. Maybe we can stop waking up at 4:30 am now?
When I was feeding her dinner tonight I gave her the bowls as I finished with them. They were two little identical bowls and she had one in each hand. She then put them together, one inside of the other. The look on her face was precious. At first she was a little surprised at what she had done and then she just looked overjoyed. She smiled at me with the biggest smile. "Look, mommy, look what I did!! Isn't that the most amazing thing ever?" She then proceeded to take them apart and put them back together again, over and over and over.....

Playing at the beach!!
Kacey went for her first trip to the beach to put her toes in the sand and her feet in the water!
She smiled quite a bit but never when the camera was clicking away. She was quiet alot and just taking it all in.

This video is us waiting for a wave to come up the sand far enough to touch her toes. We kept waiting and waiting and it never happened!
Finally on this video it does and boy does she cry!

Well that was nice while it lasted.....
Remember back in the day when I would prop Kacey up next to her bear and take her picture? Then she started reaching for and eating the sign? Well now I can't even prop her up long enough to get a picture. This was about the best I could do this week.

Last week I took her picture but have had no time to update the blog so here it is.
(In a new outfit from Great Grandma Peggy!)

2 More on the "Well it was nice while it lasted..."
- Kacey sleeping until 6am. Yeah, we are back to 4:30 or so. Ugh.
- Jamie's in between jobs vacation. He was hoping for 6 weeks or so off but then was offered a job on a new HBO show. That makes today his last day of vacation :(
Things I want to have written down so I don't forget.
- Kacey keeps pushing out both her lips in a kind of pouty face. It's pretty cute.
- She will get a handfull of chee.rios and use her other hand to eat them one at a time.
- She likes to eat cheer.ios by biting them in half with her front teeth. She is really enjoying those front teeth and likes chrunchy foods she can bite with them like toast.
- She loves her orange monkey, pink kitty and purple kitty. The ones I bought extra in case something happened to one. Whenever you show her one she gets a huge smile, grabs it and stuffs it in her mouth.
- She loves walking with the lion push toy and can't seem to get enough of it!
- Sometimes when she falls down and cries and I pick her up, I think she fakes it for a few extra seconds to get a longer hug. :)
Here are more pics from the past week. It's funny, but with Jamie on "vacation" I seem to have a lot less time to get things done!
Jamie went to class with us yesterday and had a wonderful time. Kacey enjoyed showing off her daddy!
Look at this cute purple butt!!! How could anyone not want to use cloth diapers after seeing a butt like this!!

I love this smile.
Kacey and Taline drowning in the ball pit. They look miserable in the picture but I think they really liked it.

Videos Galore!!
Daddy, Grandmas and Grandpa, this post is for you!! Lots of videos!!
This one is of Kacey and I playing with Cheerios. I hid them under toys and she goes looking for them.
This one she is at the back of the house and I try to get her to crawl to me. She makes a few stops along the way....
Here we are at Gymbo.ree. She loved being on this walkway so she could stand and watch all the kids around her.
This is also at Gymb.oree. Another way to stand and enjoy the view.
Stacie lent us this lion push toy. Kacey is really enjoying it!!! Only downside is when she gets to a wall, you have to turn it around for her and she gets to a wall fast!!

I think we have our first word!!!
Kacey has been saying mamamamam and dadada but I don't think they apply to me or Jamie, just a sound she makes. Tuesday we were in the grocery store and she wanted out of the cart and said "up" :) She did a few times so I think she really was saying up!! How exciting :) Oh it's the little things that make us moms happy isn't it?

Weekend recap
I had a wonderful weekend filled with me just being cute. I am getting to be a professional cutie. :)
Here I am with my hair in a top of the head pigtail.

If you blow up this picture so you can see my face, I am irresistibly cute. My mommy was in the bathroom washing her hands and if I lean over and she leans too, I can see her. I kept leaning over and resting my head on the blanket. Mommy thought it was "too adorable" and ran to get the camera. Lucky for her I kept doing it so she could get a picture!

Mommy then decided to video me because I was talking alot.
Here I am talking some more and playing with daddy's shoes. They are as big as me!!
Here I am wearing Laine's hat. I think I should wear hats more often!

Mommy and daddy kiss me way too much but I secretly love it!

Today is cousin Megann's 18th birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!) We had dinner at her house last night and I got to take a picture with her and her boyfriend Billy. He made me cry every time he smiled at me. I think his braces were scary! Megann said that we looked like a family in this picture and Billy got up and ran away!

This morning I was playing with mommy's diaper bag. She wasn't paying very good attention. I got the water bottle out, which is very hard to do! and started giggling. Mommy looked over and saw I had the water bottle and figured that wasn't bad and let me keep playing. I started giggling again and when mommy looked again I had gotten the lid off and poured water ALL OVER ME AND THE FLOOR!!! It was so funny! I laughed and laughed as mommy came over and cleaned it up. That was so much fun. I was soaking wet but it was all worth it! Mommy then put me in this robe and let me continue looking absolutely adorable.

I then got to eat toast. I love eating toast!! It was extra fun with no bib and still in that special robe!

And mommy cried too.....
We went to the lab yesterday for Kacey's blood test. I sat in the chair with Kacey on my lap and asked the guy if I should take off her sock. (Gwynn did tell me that it would just be a heel prick!) The guy said "Oh no!" She is too old for that and we need too much blood. He asked me to hold her left arm across her chest and keep her from moving. She smiled real big at him and then he tied her right arm off with the blue rubber band.
Kacey started to scream.
He tapped inside her elbow but couldn't get a vein. So he removed the blue rubber band and switched arms.
Kacey continued screaming. And the tears flowed.... Then she would turn and look up at me and I swear in her crying she was saying "Please help me mommy, pleeeeeease!"
He found a vein and called over the front desk guy to hold her arm still.
That's when I started to cry. I just kept shushing and squeezing her tight.
When it was finally over I gave her big cuddle and wiped both our eyes and in less than 5 minutes she had completely forgotten about it. It took me at least an hour to shake though. It was awful.

If you happen to live in Georgia...
Please read this post.
Basically Georgia is trying to get a bill passed (thanks Octomom!!!) that has these provisions:
* No more than 2 or 3 eggs could ever be fertilized in a cycle; if a woman produced more eggs, they still could not be used.
* Only 2 embryos could ever be transferred to the uterus, unless the woman is age 40 or over (then a max of 3).
* No extra embryos could be cryopreserved. If they are created, they have to be transferred.
* No financial relief, such as insurance coverage, is proposed to help with the added financial burden of using less effective treatment. Patients will still have to pay out of pocket for less effective treatment.
* Bans all financial compensation for donor gametes, such as egg donor, sperm donor, or embryo donation, which would reduce the pool of available donors in Georgia.
For those of us that have done IVF, we know this sucks. For those of you that don't know much I can tell you from my personal experience, I had 9 eggs. We attempted to fertilize all of them but only 5 did. Of the five only 2 were really good. A third was ok and 2 fizzled out completely. Just because you get eggs does not mean they will fertilize and just because they fertilize does not mean they will thrive. If this law were here we most likely would not have Kacey. Please, if you live in Georgia, read the post and send a letter of protest. This is crap lawmaking and reactionary to the current news events.
Thanks Kristie for sending me this post!

What a fun weekend!!!
On Thursday I went to the doctor for my 9 month appointment. In the waiting room a very nice boy read my book to me.
I got to go to great grandma's house and watch her make cupcakes. She let me lick some frosting off her finger and I bit it! She won't try that again!!

On Friday we went to Taline's house for a mommy group and I got to ride on Taline's train. It was so much fun!!! I want one too!
On Saturday Londyn came over with her mommy and daddy (LaRee and Kenny). We had so much fun sharing my toys!
Mommy got to hold both of us!
On Sunday we went to Huntington Gardens and I got to play in the grass. I love being outside!

We went to lunch after the gardens and I flirted with my friend Dashell.

I also made some fun videos this weekend!
This one is of me playing with and eating a banana peel. Ewww!
In this one I pretend to be a hermit crab!
