MORE! Episodes in potty training...
We went away to Sequoia for Thanksgiving weekend (hopefully I can post more on that later today or tomorrow, there are 14,000 pictures to go through first!) We had the dilemma of what to do about the potty training. We didn't want to stop on the 3.5 hour drive and we didn't want her to wet the bed or have an accident in a rental house. I tried to get her to put a diaper on before the drive and she flat out refused.
"I a big girl! I wear underwear not a diaper!!!"
Jamie came up with the brilliant solution of calling the diaper "vacation underwear." Since we normally use cloth and this was a disposable, she bought it but still insisted on putting a panty on over the diaper. She ended up wearing disposables all weekend which was a relief although we were worried she might want to continue when we got home. All weekend she would pee in the diaper and announce it with a giggle.
"I go pee pee in my vacation underwear!!! I go pee pee right now!!" hehehehehehehe
There were no accidents and no struggles, it was nice. A funny little incident was on Friday morning. Jamie woke up to Kacey standing in front of him with the diaper in her hand. She had a big smile and said "I go pee pee!" Fortunately she had woken up, taken off the diaper and went in the potty all by herself.
On the drive home we talked about getting to wear big girl underwear again at home since vacation would be over. She was pretty excited and gave us no trouble with the switch. This morning she came into our room at 5:50am and told Jamie she needed help to go pee pee. Jamie said she could do it herself. She insisted and said "I really need help to go peepee!" So Jamie got up and found out her bed was wet and she needed it cleaned up. I sure am glad he sleeps closest to the door!!!
So as of this morning she has gone in the potty once, in her bed and had an accident on the living room floor. I do love potty training, can't wait til David starts! How in the world to people with twins and triplets do it? Do they stagger the kids? Lay down plastic sheeting all around the house and do it all at once?

David's Class
I really look forward to Monday afternoons. David and I take the same class with Teacher Carol that I did with Kacey. It's so nice to spend a couple of hours just focusing on David! This week he really showed off his sitting skills and even played with a ball quite a bit. He is starting to get good at reaching for and holding things while he is sitting. The video at the end of the post shows that as well as him watching Carol sing.

Gym class
Kacey goes to gym class every Friday morning. David is normally in my BabyHawk on my back and is usually asleep most of the time. This past week he was wide awake so I let him sit off to the side since he has been sitting so well. It's perfect because he got to sit on a nice soft mat and have a nice landing when he fell over. He sat like this for almost the entire hour!

He really seemed to love being able to sit and watch the kids running around. I enjoyed it too because it freed me up a bit more to play with Kacey easier. I got this little video too of Kacey jumping around and then David watching. Kacey takes a good fall at the end of the video but don't worry! she was ok!

MORE! Episodes in potty training...
Well the last two nights have not had a dry outcome. The days have been going well (except for last evening when my mom was babysitting... she had a not so dry experience and a blowout diaper with David!! We picked the right time to go out to dinner!) but the last two nights she has still woken up at 6am but her bed is wet so I am not sure when exactly she wet it but I don't think it was in the middle of the night as that would probably wake her up.
So 2 nights dry and 2 nights wet, we'll see how tonight goes. I asked her if she wanted to wear diapers at night and she very adamantly said no. We've been trying to cut down the amount she drinks at dinner time and not give her anything to drink after that. She goes to bed around 7:30 - 8 and almost always wakes up at 6. (With a 2 hour nap around 2-4 just in case you were wondering.) Ohh fun, fun, fun.

Still going private
I am still planning on going private but every single day I get at least one email or comment on the blog from someone that wants to keep reading so I will wait another week and hopefully everyone that wants to keep reading will have contacted me by then. So if you haven't yet and would like me to add you to the list, please comment with your email (I will not publish the comment so your email will not be made public) or email me directly at nickoletta100@hotmail.com. Thanks!!
Can you believe?...
Kacey wore this shirt a couple of weeks ago and I decided it was finally too small for her. I moved it to David's part of the closet and put it on him on Thursday for class. It fit perfectly!
Here is Kacey putting out the "craft" project we brought. I am not crafty at all but it was our turn. At our other class the teacher had taken us all outside and talked about the leaves changing so I keep pointing out red trees to Kacey and she will talk about how the leaves "turn brown, fall down, on the ground" So I looked for a coloring picture of a tree with leaves falling and the kids got to color in the leaves and talk about them changing colors. The teacher told me it was a good one because they got to learn a science lesson. Yay me!

If you blow up this picture by clicking on it, you can see David's two teeth!!
David is sitting so well now that he can play with Kacey on the rug. She wasn't really happy with that idea though and refused to share the piano with him.

What a big girl..
As if getting potty trained wasn't enough to show her grownupness, Kacey actually seperated from me in class on Wednesday.
At class we have a discussion time each week. During that time some moms are on the playground with the kids while the rest of the moms are in discussion with the teacher on various topics. When it has been my turn to be in the discussion group, Kacey has always come with me and sat on my lap. She has refused to play without me there. Well this week was different. Alex was a playground mom and Kacey was OBSESSED with Taline (insert Twilight Zone music here...) It was time to seperate nad Kacey wanted to stay with Taline. She knew I was leaving, I did not sneak away!! She even came in half way through to go potty and when she was done I asked if she wanted to go back out with Taline and she said yes!!
Here are some cute pics Alex took of them playing together.

MORE! Episodes in potty training...
2 nights in a row!!! Kacey went all night without a diaper and without an accident. Last night at bedtime I told her I would empty the little potty just one time, so she peed, we cleaned it up and we finished up the bedtime routine. She then asked me if she pooped in the potty would I clean it up and I said yes. So of course 5 minutes after I leave her room she comes running out to tell me she pooped in the potty! So I cleaned that up and put her back to bed. She tried coming out of her room 2 more times but I got on top of it pretty quickly and she went to sleep without too much drama like the night before. WOW, one more night and I think she is officially potty trained!

Before I forget to write it down...
On Sunday Kacey and I made pancakes. She wanted to eat hers at the counter while I cooked mine. I asked her if she wanted me to cut it up for her so she could eat little bites and she said yes. I started cutting them up and she said "Mama, this makes me very happy." Then she leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. Talk about making your heart melt!
Episodes in potty training...
Tuesday night Kacey kept coming out after having been put to bed to tell me she needed to pee in the potty. Ugh, I don't even have the energy to go through the details, potty training sucks. Anyways, she ended up with no diaper on and the little potty in her room. Jamie went in after he got home and put a diaper on her while she was asleep.
Last night she refused a diaper and we had a "discussion" about if she had an accident at night I would have to wash her bed stuff and that included her prized Mickey Mouse blanket. She promised not to get Mickey wet and I let her wear underwear. I was very clear about what would happen if she had an accident and I was very clear that it would be an accident and that would be ok. If she peed in bed or on the potty at night she could come and tell me.
So what does she do? She actually peed on the potty in her room 4 times in 50 minutes. It became quite the game for her. Pee in the potty, run into the living room, tell mommy, mommy gets up, cleans the potty, etc. Finally one hour past the time I had put her in bed, and the 4th pee, I told her I would empty the potty in the morning. She flipped out. Screaming, crying etc. She would come out into the living room and Supernanny style I would lead her by the hand back to her room, put her in bed and shut the door. She would follow me back out to the living room and repeat. We did this for about 10 minutes before she finally stayed in bed a weeping mess and fell asleep.
And she slept... with nothing but a jammie top on... all night long. At 6am I heard her get up, fumble around and then she came running into our room. Fortunately she ran to daddy and whispered really loudly "DADDY!!! I GO PEEPEE ON THE POTTY!!!!"
I must admit that she did have an accident today at class but she was very busy playing outside with her friends. Other than the nighttimes and not wanting to go when it is my suggestion she is doing pretty darn good. No accidents at all yesterday and now the overnight? WOW, she has never had a dry nighttime diaper so that was a big surprise. I will ask her tonight if she wants a diaper or underwear and let her choose and go over what will happen if she wets the bed but it will be her choice. I will keep that clean sheet ready for now!

Free?? Free!!! Woo-hoo Free!!!
As those of you related to me know, I send out Holiday cards every year. I started the year we got engaged sending photo cards and really like them. I have actually saved one each year in a mini-photo album and it is a neat little chronicle of how our life has changed. An engaged one in 2004, married 2005, travel shots in 2006, pregnant in 2007, baby Kacey in 2008, pregnant in 2009 and now 2 little ones in 2010... what in the world will 2011 look like?
It's so much fun to receive photo cards from other people especially with kids and especially from people you don't see often. It helps to keep in touch, so to get 50 of them for free, this is pretty cool! You can get 50 free cards also.
Maybe you would like this one? I think this is my favorite...
Family Wall Christmas
or this one
Holiday Window
and use this picture?

and this one is just cute!

So which one do you like best and think I should send out, go ahead and vote in the comments!

Episodes in potty training...
Ugh... we had a fun night on Sunday. It started with a lovely dinner party. Kacey was being very good and neither of us wanted to leave the party to put her to bed so we let her stay up. Since we are old and it was a Sunday night, the party ended about 9ish so off to bed she went. All was well until she came out of her room saying she needed to go poopy... on the potty. What do you do here? We don't want her pooping in her night time diaper and ruining all of the potty training so far but we also don't want her to think she can stay up by going potty. I knew this was going to happen!! One of my dreads of potty training.
So we let her go. I left her alone int he bathroom so she wouldn't be "entertained" by me. She kept calling for me to watch her go potty but I left her alone.... until.. a big crash. I go in there and her step stool had fallen over and she was sitting on the bathroom sink taking her socks off. "I need to wash my feet!!" She declared. "Instant time out!" I declared right back! We do not sit on bathroom counters. So after her tim out she informed me she still needed to go potty so I got the mini potty, set it in the middle of the kitchen where I was washing dishes and told her to go. If she stood up she was done! That silly girl stayed on that toilet for about 15 minutes. She kept trying to get my attention but I ignored her hoping she would get bored. She finally did and told me that her poopies were not coming out. She let me put her diaper on and off to bed she went. It was a bit after 10.
So what would you have done? Won't this be worse when we let her wear panties to bed? Will this happen in the middle of the night too?

A video post
This is for those that are bored or are grandparents :)
My favorite kid video of all time (with the exception of Kacey's big tantrum and big tantrum continued, they are still #1!!) David wants to eat and to sleep. Which one will win?
Kacey trying to put David to sleep and singing Row, Row Your Boat or as she sings "Row, row boat daddy street..."
"How does this thing work" David trying to figure out a spoon.
"Big Sister Kacey" She shows David how to use his blocks and hammer but won't share them. She then shows him how to fall down without hitting his head.

My birthday dinner
On Sunday night we had family come over and my mom made her famous vegetable beef soup, yummy! It was a really nice evening to complete a really wonderful birthday weekend. I'd say it was one of the best birthdays I have had. Thanks!!

Uncle Mike with David, he has two lovely girls so I think he is a bit excited to have a boy to play with!
