David is learning!

Tonight I read "Big Dog, Little Dog" and I don't think I have read it to him before. I asked him who was big and he actually pointed to the big dog. So I tried little and he pointed to the little dog. Then red, green, grass, sign, big bed, little bed, etc. I am embarrassed to say that I was surprised how much he knew. With kacey I was so on top of it but I have been very lax with David. I regularly forget he is 2 and really learning so much. I guess I need to be doing a lot more with him!!!

Marblehead, MA

Daddy is working on another Adam Sandler movie, Grown Ups 2. So back to the East Coast! Since we are in the middle of selling our house and trying to get another one, we decided that me and the kids would stay home for the summer and just go out for a 2 week visit. So off we went! My last post told about the horrid flight and I am happy to say things got better after we landed. For the next 2 weeks we spent alot of time eating ice cream.

Going on adventure walks and climbing rocks

Kacey on her first day of camp. She was soooo excited. Back home we have her going to gym camp one afternoon a week. She told me it was disappointing because they did not actually go camping and there wasn't any swimming either. I had to explain that camp does not equal camping. :) So Jamie signed her up for summer camp at the local JCC (Jewish Community Center) and it included swimming! She was set to go M,W and F til 1 but after the first day she loved it so much we signed her up for every day til 3.
We only went to the beach one time. I didn't feel comfortable going alone with the kids and we only had the one chance to go as a family.

We went to the Boston Children's Museum 5 times. Most of the times were just David and me as Kacey was at camp but Kacey did get to go twice. I LOVE this place and wish it were closer to home but I do look forward to going when I hear we are headed back East! Here is David in the golf ball room. He figured out rolling the balls down the hills pretty quickly.

fascinated with dropping popsicle sticks....
The museum has a little stage and they do plays. The plays always have audience participation. We went to a play and Kacey did not get picked to go onstage so she begged to go again. Fortunately at the second play she did get picked to play the third pig in "The Three Little Pigs." It's funny how she always looks so big to me until she stands next to older kids, then she looks like my baby girl again. :)

Near the end, Kacey said she would miss Massachusetts but that she Really missed Nana. So she used my phone to take over 200 pictures out her window on one of our drives. Here are some of them...

On the last weekend we went sightseeing in Boston with daddy. At the Boston Garden
Riding the swan boat

Make Way For Ducklings!!!
The kids all took turns by getting on a duck and then moving up a duck when the kid on the Mommy duck was done.
Kacey shared her turn with this adorable boy
Carousel!
The frog pond. Both kids LOVED it and spent about an hour in it. You can see David in the red shirt and Kacey is just in front of him in the blue.
Some random shots
We were in a one bedroom apartment so each kid slept on a blow up mattress next to our bed. This was hard. It only worked easily if both kids were ready to pass out so they usually went to bed between 9-10. One night they were so wired that I actually just locked them in the room and left them alone. I checked a couple of times but they sounded like they were playing so I left again. After 1.5 hours I went in and found them each in their own beds sound asleep!! I was very surprised!

Another sleeping pic, David checking out Kacey as she snoozes.
At the same park, I taught David how to roll down a hill, he kind of got it.....

Kacey passed out and David ended up playing next to her to keep her company.
We went on an old house tour and the guide was very impressed with Kacey. Here she is telling her all about the fireplace and oven. Kacey really paid attention!

Big Train!

The second weekend we were there, I took a quickie trip to visit my brother and his girlfriend in DC. Wouldn't you know it but my flight home got cancelled so I got to stay another night (read, 2 nights in a row of 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep!) I got home Monday afternoon, so Jamie's boss' wife offered to watch David (Kacey went to camp) David had a great time as she has an older son.

I LOVE this picture! I gave him a tiny chocolate ball at a candy shop. So happy!

Chasing birds....

Last night, a special treat of eating dinner in front of the tv on the coffee table.
The flight home went a million times better (Short of falling out of the sky, how could it have gone worse?) David enjoyed his new lap desk for the first time on the drive to the airport
In the security line he grabbed his fire engine and laid down to play. As the line moved forward we just scooted him along. Dirty floor I know but better than a screaming kid!
Daddy got a gate pass to take us to the gate. So hard to say goodbye again!!!!
Although David looks disgusted, he was actually laughing.
We were in the row right behind first class. Kacey went to the bathroom and on the way back saw the flight attendants handing out ice cream. Her eyes got all big and I told her we would not be getting that. A few minutes later a flight attendant came and asked if she could give one to Kacey. Oh yes!!!!
fortunately David was sound asleep!
It was a great trip! Wonder where we'll go next summer?
