Seeing Santa
We had a wonderful day visiting Santa. We made plans with our friends to meet up and got a fantastic group shot!!!
Then Kacey and David got their own turn together.
Here is the card Kacey made for Santa.
We were at the Americana and caught a water show. Kacey, David and Hazel kept jumping up and down with excitement when they weren't staring in amazement.
Picture together outside of Santa's house. Ollie, Lilli, Taline, Lorelei, Beckett, Dashell, Kacey, Hazel and David.
Kacey and Dashell decided they were on a date. Hmmmm... I still think she is a bit young!
Waiting to go on the trolley train.
David couldn't be happier!!!
Merry Christmas from the Keeny kids!!
Love this pic Renee took of Kacey.
Watching another water show.
Then we went to Cheesecake factory and the kids got their own table.
We then got to see SNOW (actually, soap bubbles) falling from the sky. It was pretty magical but doesn't really show in the pics. (Side note, I didn't realize it when I took this pic and was pleasantly surprised going through my pics to see Kacey with Leo in the background :)
Catching snow on his tongue... don't think it tasted very good though.
Making wood chip angels.
And to end this lovely day, we got to hear musicians play Christmas Carols. They did ask Hazel if she had a request and she asked for Row, Row your boat. Haha!
Christmas Train
15-20 years ago, my Uncle Tom and grandfather put together a big train track to go around my grandmother's Victorian Village collection. It would come out at Christmas every year for a while and then it just stopped. I don't know how long it has been but it's been at least 5 years.. maybe 10 now. The board holding the track was tucked away in the basement and everything else was in boxes.
This year, Tom and I thought David would get alot of joy out of it so we decided to put it together and see if we could get it to run. So on my grandfathers birthday we spent the day in the woodshop and cleaned the tracks and got it running. Yes, David was pleased. :)

What the what??
On Friday night about 2 weeks ago, David was having a playdate with his best friend Ollie. They were running around and having a ton of fun. All of a sudden around 5pm, he just stopped. He sat down and got quiet. Around 5:30 he said he wanted to go to bed. Everyone left shortly after that and by 6pm he was vomiting and clearly sick. He vomited throughout the night and all day Saturday. A few of his friends had the 24 hour bug so we just waited.
When he was still sick on Sunday and couldn't even hold down a spoonful of water, we called his doctor and she suggested we go to urgent care. So off we went. They checked him out, said it most likely wasn't appendicitis and gave him some zofran to stop the vomiting. Once that kicked in, he just passed out.
In the early afternoon, he was sitting up and eating pedialyte popsicles. He seemed like he was on the mend!
Jamie and Kacey left to go get our Christmas tree and my mom and I stayed back with David. Around 4pm he just started screaming. It was awful, he sounded like a wounded animal. He kept saying his tummy hurt and then he would cry "Owwwwwww" We jumped in the car and drove to the ER.
The screaming got worse and they got an IV in him (absolute torture for him and me :( They then gave him fluids for dehydration, more zofran and morphine. The morphine kicked in and again he passed out.
They did an x-ray and an ultrasound and ruled out appendicitis and anything else bad. The end conclusion was that he was very dehydrated and constipated. The dehydration worsened the constipation and created the intense pain. Within a few hours he was feeling better again and drinking.
By 9:30pm he was sleeping comfortably, holding down fluids and seeming much better. We were cleared to take him home.
Fortunately by Monday, he was just about normal. Ate regular meals and drank a ton.
There did seem to be an amazing silver lining to this ordeal. On Tuesday the constipation tried to ahem, right itself. His teacher at school told me he actually told her he wanted to go poop and sat on a toilet for 10 minutes trying. Nothing happened but we were blown away that he tried. ***
Later that day, he tried again and was successful!!!! He got the promised chocolate ice cream cone.
He continued to go on the potty every day for the next week. I think we have really turned a corner on the potty training and are now putting him in underwear every day!!! It's just all sooooo exciting!
**When David turned 3, I put him in underwear for 8 weeks and worked on potty training. He was having none of it and I washed a lot of underwear. I finally gave up. If I left him naked, he would use the potty but if he had underwear or a diaper on, he would dirty them. So we pretty much kept him in diapers. I thought we'd try again around age 4 but he has decided on his own!!!
