Timeout and House/teen-sitting

Sorry, just had to add this one today..too cute! And sorry to those of you who have been deceived into thinking this was an Anderson family blog, because lately, it has clearly only been about Taylor..

So this morning on the way home from the train station, I heard Taylor say to her baby.."Get in the corner right now!" Can you tell we are learning about timeouts??

On another note, for the next couple days we are house/teen sitting at Braden's aunt's house near Pasadena. A welcome break from our current living situation. Time to recharge and not have to worry about how many toys Tay has all over!

Taylor's Birthday

Taylor is 2!! She had a great birthday, and we fortunately caught a couple good pics, although our videos are better. Anyway, she started off the day with one of her presents before Dad had to go to work...a shopping cart! We borrowed someone's for a few weeks, and she was in love, so we had to get her one! (and yes, that's her I-just-got-out-of-bed-hair, unfortunately strikingly similar to everyday-hair).
For her birthday, she got to wear her new ballerina outfit (pictured above..thanks Paula), and all day she kept asking me about the cupcakes! After a long, fun-filled day, (and no nap), she got to blow out the candles, and dig in. I guess the frosting:cake ratio was too much for her tho, because she didn't make it past the frosting..oh well!
Afterward, we had a big reveal! Grandmidene and Papa Howard got her a tricycle, which she has been dying to have for some time now. Like I said, the video of it was great, but to help show her excitement, she stayed outside for about an hour with it, and only came in to get more clothes on because she was shivering so much.

Happy Birthday Tay! We love you!

Switcheroo

Last week, it was all about "I'll do it!" Well, toddlers are anything but consistent because this week the catch phrase is "don't know how" (complete with out-turned hands and a sad look on the face--I finally got a new camera, so I'll work on pics!) Everything she just had to do herself last week, this week she does not know how..putting on shoes, holding her dolls, picking anything off the floor so I can help her fix it, getting her sippy out of our mini-fridge. Gotta say I just love regression..

Other noteworthy phrases this week..

I can't remember the context, but we wanted her to do something she usually likes, and all we could get out of her was "I SAID NO!"

And yesterday morning, she insisted to Braden that she had an owie on her foot. After a close inspection, Braden told her he couldn't see anything. "Yes you do dad!"

Oh and a quick PS...it's her birthday tomorrow! 2!! And there WILL be pics!!

Pinky Attacks!

I am totally stumped as to where this one came from, or how she even learned the little finger is called a pinky, but she knows. And she shows us that pinky, and then attacks our faces with it!

Owl Do-it!

Taylor's favorite new phrase...translated means "I'll do it", but of course it sounds more like the title, and the 'do it' has become one word. And she means it about EVERYTHING. She gets herself into the car and carseat, she opens the fridge, she puts her own shoes on, her pants/skirts, she loves to do it herself. What a big girl she is!! As you can imagine, most of the time it is really fun..but now we have to plan about an extra 10 minutes to go anywhere so she can get herself into the car.

The other day, we were already running late, but she had to do it herself so I kept telling her she needed to hurry..and her response (full of arm waving and hand motions) was "I KNOW, I KNOW!"

And after she accomplishes all these new tasks, "I GOT!"

She's a kick everyday, we sure love her!

Taylor Moment

I had so many funny things to tell you this week, but I didn't write them down..which I really should know better..so here are a couple that I can remember.

1. She found my bag of glue sticks for my glue gun, and accidentally dumped them out. She came and found me and made me come back with her to where they had spilled, and pointed and said.."mommy, mess!!"

2. Taylor has a little backpack that holds all her things for church. Today Braden dropped her off for nursery, but I picked her up. We got in the car to go, and Taylor got upset and kept asking for something. We finally realized she was asking for her "pack-pack" that we had left in nursery, but she had remembered!

3. Taylor really likes for me to come everywhere with her for everything, but the few times I talk her into going to get whatever toy, drink, or item by herself, she always points right in my face and says.. "right back Mom, right back!"

4. Taylor is now very familiar with the fact that daddy has to go to work, but not on Saturday and Sunday. Her response.."work sucks". Touche child!

5. We went garage sale-ing on Saturday, and at one they had tons of jewelry. Taylor had her whole arm covered in bracelets, and pointing to each one..."so koot (cute)" and "i like that one". Yep..trouble.

6. This week I told her she was pretty. "No mom, koot!"

7. And lastly, before I bore you...in hopes to get her to keep bows and such in her hair, we introduced her to the mirror, telling her to go look how cute. So now anytime she gets something new, she runs on over to admire. However, she took it up a notch this week when she added some hands-on-the-hips action. Don't know where she picked it up..but it was adorable!

As for primary this week, no fun stories...but I've learned the trick. If you tell them that you are taking them on a field trip later, it is AMAZING how still they actually can sit!
