Kate McKay Anderson and birth story

Kate McKay Anderson was born at home on April 21, 2011. She was 8 lbs and 5 oz, and 21 inches long. She is a sweet baby and we sure love having her around!!

(just moments after birth)

First kiss from a very excited big sister

First time holding little sister

Funny story about this silly face...Taylor got to see Kate right after her being born. The first thing Taylor did when getting some time with baby sister was make this silly face at her. (Kicking ourselves for not getting it on video/camera, it was hilarious!) According to Taylor, it is something she was teaching baby sister to do..

Kisses from mommy

Birth Story: I woke up at 2 am with some back pain/contractions, pretty confident labor would be coming, so I hurried and went back to bed knowing I was gonna need the rest. Around 4:30 the contractions were waking me up regularly enough to finally realize I wasn't falling back asleep in between, so I timed them and they were 6 minutes apart. I called my mom to let her know (Kate was born at her house), and decided I would time a few more before calling my midwife to make sure they were regular. Around 5 I decided I should let Braden know, and woke him up. He started to get all the stuff loaded into the car, and get clothes and such ready for Taylor. At this point, Taylor woke up, and came and sat with me in bed. I called my midwife Margie, and she said it sounded like this was it, and headed to my mom's house. We arrived at my mom's around 6 am, and my contractions were much closer together. Around 7:30, I decided it was time to push, and 25 minutes later, Kate was born! It was a tough labor, but short, and I was very happy with the results!

Not old enough for this attitude..

2 Things Taylor said to us today..

1. When asked not to touch the package of raw chicken defrosting on the counter..she turned and looked at me and said.."don't tell me what to do".

2. Told her dad today.."I'm the boss of you" when informing him which door of the truck she wanted to get out of.

And a side note..no new baby yet..no signs of new baby yet...ugh..

Backseat Driver

Somewhere, Taylor learned that red=stop and green=go. So every time we come to a light these days, "no mom, stop! its red!" (and no, I do not run red lights..I am slowing down..apparently not fast enough I guess). However, she is only 2, so she doesn't really understand that for one set of lights to be green, the other HAS to be red, so I get "yelled" at because she can still see the reds on the side of us. "No Mom, you runned a red. You gonna get in trouble." Yes, thank you Taylor. Another really sore spot is right hand turns on red..yah..you can imagine how that goes. I really wish that we could time travel 14 years ahead, and put her 2-year old self in the backseat of the car as she is learning to drive at 16..I mean..isn't that only fair??

Funny updates

Taylor has been saying tons of funny things lately, but I've been so busy, I am forgetting. So I've got to get some down now before I get even busier with baby sister..

Braden's mom lives in a gated community, and so he told her she has to say "open sesame" to get it opened. So we got up to the gate the other day, and she says, "open up sesame!"..which was cute..but the best part was after we went through, she says, "thank you sesame!"

Also, Taylor gets candies for going potty. At first, it was 3 for #1, and 5 for #2. But she is totally potty trained now, and so I'm gradually cutting down the dose to 1 and 3 respectively. For all of you that know Taylor, you know she found a way around that right? Since she can count and actually understands quantities up to 10, we have to count all the candies out to make sure I didn't give her the wrong amount. Today she asked if she could get them out the of the bag and count them, so of course I said yes, less work for me right? She was supposed to count out 3. Here's how the counting went...1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3, because didn't you know putting 3 at the end of any string of numbers still means 3?? (And yes, she does really understand that's not where 3 goes..she thinks she's so tricky..little stinker)
