Beginning of Summer.. June

This past summer just flew by.  Here are some pictures of us in June 2013..

Camping in the backyard.  Poor Jase was so tired.

Eating popsicles on the porch.  This is a favorite pastime.

Jase being such a cutie pie.  We LOVE HIM!

Bubba getting busy and causing trouble.

Whitney made a path with her toys and bread crumbs to a surprise for me.  I can't even remember the surprise, but the path was sure cute:

4th of July

There is no better place than Utah on the 4th.  It's a very patriotic place to be.  People love our country, love fire works and the weather is always nice.

We went up to the canyon for a dinner with the Paxtons.  It was nice.  Of course, my kids wanted to play in the little stream/river.

MacKay enjoyed a healthy meal of sun chips and root beer.  Not to mention he looked a little WT in that outfit.  But, that's okay.

He's so curious.  Reminds me of "Monkey George."

After dinner, we drove back to Lehi, just in time to see some fireworks.  It was amazing to drive south on I-15 and see fireworks all the way down.  I love this land.

Then, the 5 of us, watched some fireworks.  I looked around and saw my adorable hubby, my three precious babies and I felt so happy.  So very, very happy.  I love them.  All of them.  We are so lucky to have each other.  My kids eyes were wide open at the beautiful lights in the sky.  We sat in our little lawn chairs and Jase was a happy boy all awake at 10 pm at night.  Just a quick drive back to our house and back in bed for the night.  Sitting there with my family was just one of those fulfilling times that my heart wants to always remember.  I loved it.  I loved being "just our little family."  I loved that our kids were 100 percent happy to be with us and nobody was squabbling!  (Not me and Bart, I'm talking about the kids!)

Happy 4th.

Jase at 4 months

 Jase at 4 months:

Jase is a good baby.  He’s darling.  He lights up when I walk into the room.  Pumps those little chubby legs.  He loves sucking on his hand and fist.  Always munching.. always slobbering.  He’s adorable.  He has a big, huge smile.  His eyes light up and he loves being “talked too.”  He’s always goo goo gaa gaa… talking his baby talk.  We all adore him.  Even Bubba.  Jase loves to look around and see what’s going on.  He doesn’t love being snuggled into you, he likes looking out.  Jase loves being outside and is a good baby on the go.  He’s taking much longer naps.  He’ll nap for 1-3 hours, just depending on how tired he is.  I usually nurse him to sleep and then he starts to get droopy eyes.  Just before he drifts off, I put him (swaddled in his new swaddling blankets) into his crib.  It’s there that he sucks on his little hands or just falls right to sleep.

Jase is a good nurser.  He has been from the beginning.  He loves to nurse and gets mad if there’s too much milk.  I am definitely NOT ready to feed solid foods! Jase eats pretty fast (5-10 minutes) and seems to get pretty full.  He’s better able to communicate that he does or doesn’t want to eat.  When he’s done, he’s learning to not swallow.

Jase knows who his Mommy and Daddy are.  He’s already aware of strangers.  Wants to be with his Mommy when he’s tired.  He loves Whitney and MacKay.  He loves to be held sweetly and cuddled.

I munch on his cheeks and neck.  He has a bit of torticolis and tends to lean to his left with his neck.  We are doing daily stretches.  He doesn’t love this.  Hopefully, it will work.  Next week, I will take him to the doctor to see if he needs physical therapy.

Jase likes to laugh.  He is very, very ticklish.  He will laugh when we do ‘peek-a-boo’ as well.  He has the cutest smile!

Jase sleeps about 5-6 hour stretch- and then maybe will do another one. The longest stretch he’s gone has been 8-9 hours sleeping.  That happened once.. so far!
He is going to bed earlier.  When we are good he’ll go down around 7. Sometimes we keep him out later, and then he has a rougher time going down.

He’s kinda over his swing.  I use it rarely.  He’s getting too long for it now anyway.

Jase, we love you.  You are a dream.  I am so grateful you came to our family.  I can hardly wait to get to know your personality even more.  I can tell you are  a sweet boy.  Sensitive, kind and loving.  I can tell you have great things in store.

I love you,
Mom

At Jase's 4 month well-check, we noticed his head was in the 100th percentile.  (99.73% to be exact)  It was growing at a faster rate than the rest of his body.  He had 2 ultra sound scans on his head at the hospital.  This is where they stick that probe right on his soft spot on his head.  He was not happy.  It was sort of traumatic.  But the extra fluid in his head is benign and he'll grow into that noggin of his.  In the mean time, we think he's pretty adorable.

Also, at 4 months, Jase started to go to physical therapy for his torticollis.  It was around 3.5 months, we noticed that he titled his head to his left.  He doesn't love therapy or the stretched.  Now that Jase is almost 7 months, the torticollis is much better and he's almost got his head/neck straight up!  :)

New Ride

See this car?

After moving away from Ohio, I was totally prisoner in my own home.  Bart took our Accord to work everyday.  It was November/December.  Cold, dark and depressing.  I had no friends and we were at home ALL.DAY.LONG.  It was rough.  This car was perhaps, the greatest blessing to me at that time.

A long time ago, my great-grandparents died and some of my grandmother's inheritance, she divided it in a mutual fund among her grandchildren.  I had never had the need to cash it in, until we were SUPER DUPER poor just right after dental school.  We used that money as a down payment on this car.  It was such a blessing in my life.  The car worked woderfully.  We were so grateful for it.
We used it up until Jase was about 3 months old.  Then it was definitely time to move to a bigger vehicle.

We do enjoy our Odyssey now.  It's also a great blessing to us as well.

I will never forget this little red car.  It represented freedom and security just when we needed it.

Here is Whitney buckling MacKay into his carseat in the van.  We love our van!

Tiny Dancer Take 2

This year Whitney took dance at Bobbi's Dance & Tumble Bugs.  She loved every class.  Her teacher was Miss Hillary.  Whitney loves dance, dress up, girlie things of all sorts.  And I love her.  I love watching her dance and try new things.  Learn how to point her toes and shake those hips.  She's pretty good at it too.  On a warm Spring night, we took Whitney to the Gardens (Thanksgiving Point) and had a little photo shoot.  She was having a ball.  The boys were less than pleased :)

Here's one of my favorites.  Oh Whitney.  Please don't grow up too fast.

Here is my Bubba.  He loves his "BY-U" hat.  It's currently lost somewhere.  But he adored wearing it, because he was "just like Daddy does!"

Could it be any cuter?

After the recital.  She did awesome.  She was the first one out on the stage and she performed her little heart out.  I loved watching her.  MacKay and Jase did well too.  It is fun to support each other.

On Stage...

Just me and my girl.  Reminder for next time:  Bring her some flowers.  I told Bart that I always wished someone had brought me flowers after the performance.  Whitney walked off the stage and first thing she said to me was, "Where did those girls get those flowers?"  (Pointing to the kids who had them.)  Yes, girl.  I know exactly how you felt.  Next time, I promise!

Back to that Spring photo shoot:  This was when Daddy was telling us to hurry-up and that he was going to feed all the crackers to the fish.  She was less than pleased herself.

I love this picture.  They're both so cute.

Preschool Grad...

I haven't posted about Whintey's preschool graduation yet.  Partly because three kids keep me pretty busy... but also because it makes me a little sad.

Whitney has loved preschool. She loves her teacher, her friends, the letter of the week, learning songs and wearing her backpack.  Before having the baby I would drop her off in the car and most often she would ask me to walk her in.  That's cute.  I want to remember that.  In all her independence, she still wants me to walk her in.. sometimes.

Whitney is my oldest, and therefore, the guinea pig in so many ways.  But she's also had my heart from before she was born.  I love her.  She's my only girl.. so far.  Her birth was the beginning of a new chapter in my life- motherhood.  She's my buddy.  After Bubba was born, I would leave him and Bart at home. Whitney would be in her carseat, age 2 and would yell, "Woo Hoo!  Girls' Night!  Woo Hoo!"

I want to remember that too.

We are the girls.

When Bart was telling Bubba about Father & Sons' campout, Whitney said, "When do we have the Mother and me campout?"  I am worried about next year.  If I send Whit to kindy-garten, she'll be the very youngest in her grade.  That has me worried.  I was the oldest and so was Barty.  But she seems so ready.  She's learning to read and write and be so grown up.  We'll see how this all goes!

Here's a few pics from that COLD graduation morning:

Thank you Liss Meanne!  It was a wonderful year!  We are sad you've moved to DC!!! :(
