Happy baby/croupy baby

Rhett is almost always squealing and laughing, and I wanted to share a few videos with you, so you can enjoy as well.

In this first video, Rhett, Donnie, Jasmine and I are playing before Rhett's bedtime. Any time Rhett sees me using the camera though, he can't help but want to play with it. It cracked me up, because I would only get a few seconds of video in before he wanted to attack the camera!

Here's another video of the little man charging me. He's staring at Jasmine before he realizes I'm taping him. Our home movies will only be 5 seconds long, because you can't keep him away for longer than that :)

Sunday night, Rhett started wheezing REALLY bad and we ended up taking him to the ER because he couldn't breathe well. It turns out he has croup, so he spent Monday home with me and Tuesday/Wednesday with my parents (thanks again!!).

Here's some pics from the doctor's office Monday morning after a night at the ER. He refused to sit in my lap, so I made him take a bath when we got home. Nothing like laying on the floor at the pediatrician to pick up some nasty illness. :) At this point, I could tell he was doing better.

I took the next two videos on Monday, so you can see how much better he's feeling :)

Playing peek-a-boo with Mommy:

And finally (because you may be getting tired of watching my son playing, even if I'm not), I finally caught Rhett and Jasmine's game of tag on camera. They've been doing this for a few weeks, but this is the first time I've captured it on camera.

Rhett will start to follow Jasmine across the room, but if I call her, Rhett will come crawling back as fast as her can to get up in my lap. I guess he doesn't want to get licked to death? Either way, they'll play this over and over until Jasmine finally gets tired of going back and forth and hides under the kitchen table :)

Rhett is feeling better every day, and tomorrow will be his first day back at school since last Friday. I'm sure he'll be ready to see his friends.

We have a walker!

Well, a few steps anyways.

Rhett has been pulling up and moving around for quite awhile, but he'll only walk if you hold his fingers. We call it his zombie walk because he jerks around when he walks and looks like he's in the middle of Michael Jackson's Thriller video.

On Saturday at 10 months 3 weeks, he finally decided he was ready to take a step. And not just one step. He took 3 steps in a row! He was so proud of himself and has continued practicing whenever he can. Even in the bath tub, which caused him to fall and bump his head before Daddy could stop him.

I'll try to get it on camera, but I wanted to take a moment to brag. :)

Love always,
Proud Mommy

Grammy and Grandaddy's house

Sunday, Rhett and I went over to my parents house and spent some time with Grammy, Grandaddy, my sister-in-law Jenn, and her kids Parker and Jordan. Larry was out of town for work so he wasn't able to join us, but we had a really nice time catching up and letting the cousins play together.

Spinning bowls with Grandaddy is a tradition my dad started. All of the grandkids love spinning my mom's metal mixing bowls and making a big 'ole racket. Parker was sweet enough to get one for each of them, including my dad. And they were organized by size, of course, with Grandaddy getting the biggest one and Rhett getting the littlest.

We tried to get a picture of the trio together. None of them wanted to sit still, so here's the best we have:

The next one is blurry because the kids are escaping, but I love the look on Parker's face. He's trying so hard to hold on to Rhett :)
Thanks for letting us come over and spend a rainy Sunday with you!

A work in progress

As most of you know, we sold our house before our new house was ready, so we're living in a 1-bedroom apartment in the interim. Luckily, our new house is going up quickly and something new has been done every time we drive by.

Our lot as of 8.14.09...As of 9.4.09. They've framed part of the first level...Our bricks...

As of 9.8.09-they've started to frame the 2nd story (which will just be a gameroom/media room) and our roof...
And as of 9.13.09 with the framing mostly done and the house wrapping begun...

Our apartment is really close to the neighborhood, so Rhett and I stop by most mornings on the way to his school. I'll post pictures of the inside once they get further along!

Labor Day weekend

We spent Labor Day weekend lounging around the house and enjoying time with Rhett. While we were selling the house and moving, we rarely got a moment to sit and relax, so we took full advantage of it this weekend.

Here are some pics of Rhett playing with Daddy's ballcap and sunglasses, some of his favorite toys:

Monday night, we were invited over to Brandon and Lisa's house for a picnic in their backyard. Their little girl Gracie is 3 and just the sweetest thing. She loved playing with Rhett and alerting me when he put grass in his mouth or dropped food on the ground. They also had the most amazing backyard with huge trees and lots of room for the kids to play.

Here are some pics of Gracie, Reid, and Rhett playing in the sandbox...
Friends forever. Or enemies. It's too soon to say, but with only one year between them, it's going to be interesting

We sat outside and watched the kids play and then enjoyed dinner on the patio. Thanks for having us Brandon, Lisa, and Gracie! It was a lot of fun.
