Rhett has gone through his first bout of strep throat this past weekend, so he stayed home with Mommy on Friday and spent the weekend recovering. Here's a video of Rhett at the pediatrician's office. The kid is non-stop! This is a PSA for child safety locks :)
He started feeling better once he got a few doses of antibiotics in his system, and I was just relieved they figured out what was bothering him. He hadn't been eating much for a few days, and that's just not like him! :)
Tractors
Donnie's parents have gotten Rhett some tractor books and tractor toys, and he's REALLY gotten into them. The last time the construction workers were using a tractor on the plot next door, Rhett jumped up and down and said "tractor" over and over again. (Well, sometimes it sounds like "tractor". Mostly it just sounds like "tr..er"). There are always tractors working on the side of the road when we come home from school, and here's a picture of Rhett checking out not one, but THREE tractors!
I love to see his little wheels turning in his head. It's so fun to see him learn!
Dawdler
I've discovered a new nickname for Rhett-Dawdler. I used to think it was because he was little and needed time to do things, but I've discovered that he's perfectly capable of moving quickly. He just prefers not to. Here's what Rhett was doing while I was trying to get him herded into the car before school the other day:
He also likes to dump out all of his books right before bed, so he can put them back in the box, one by one. It's really adorable, though :)
Feeling better
After 3 days cooped up in the house, Rhett was ready for some outside time. The weather was beautiful yesterday, so we drug his tractor outside and I let him run around. He's actually in his pajama shirt, but I don't think anyone noticed :)
New classroom
Now that Rhett is almost 18 months old, they've started to transition him into the 18 to 24 month classroom at his school. He will go from 9am-11am every day this week and then will start going full-time next week. I was a little worried about them starting the transition this week since he's just getting over strep throat and is running at only about 85%, but they said he did great. I went and met his new teachers this morning and they seem super sweet, so I feel better about the whole thing.
When I picked Rhett up this afternoon, the teacher started laughing when I asked her how he did today. When I dropped him off this morning, I asked them to limit the amount of milk he could have today because he's been having a hard time keeping dairy down with his antibiotics. At lunch, they gave him half of a sippy cup of milk and then gave him water when he signed for more. Well, apparently he really wanted milk, because when they were helping the other kids with their food, Rhett got up and got the gallon jug of milk and started drinking straight from it. She said there wasn't much left when he picked it up, but she wished she had a picture of him chugging milk straight from the jug. What a character! I love that little boy so much :)
And to sign off, here's a few pictures of the little ham himself while we got ready for bed tonight. As you can see, he feels much better!
I hope this post finds you well!
Love,
Becca
