DC BIG celebrations

Hello crafters!

Today it’s my turn to set the challenge for the DaringCardmakers.

I want you to make cards for the

BIG celebrations

that you usually enjoy only once in your lifetime: a wedding, a special birthday (18th, 30th etc.), a holy communion, finally reaching retirement, passing an exam/driving test etc.

I know that many of these great celebrations have or had to be cancelled this year or celebrated quite differently from the original plan. But maybe in this case it’s even more important to send a card and tell someone that you’re thinking of them … from far away.

Actually … I picked the topic because my brother’s wedding was sheduled for tomorrow and I thought that we would all be very excited today and busy with the last preparations.

But now the wedding is cancelled due to the virus.

At least they had their civil ceremony and we siblings gave them the card and our BIG present anyway 😉!

Watercolour Wednesday

I bought a really cool water colour book and started some projects in the last few weeks.

So far I didn’t add that much handlettering.

I used stamps and made little bookmarks out of the water colour backgrounds.

Shopping Saturday

Oops, I did it again…

I placed a second order.

First I only looked online for the flamingo die cuts* for the stamps in my last order … and realized quite quickly that there are only a few left and I should be quick if I want to own them. And then I added a few other items to my shopping cart (to save the shipping costs *hihi*).

*Usually I don’t mind fuzzy cutting, but to cut out the flamingos with the narrow legs is so annoying

DC birds of feather

Hello, crafters! I hope you can enjoy a sunny holiday today. Maybe you’ll even find some time craft 😊.

The Daring Cardmakers have a new challenge for you.

Nat wants to see
birds on your card project!

Stamps, die cuts, stickers, papers... our fine feathered friends are a real staple of many product lines and will definitely help lift someone's day. :)

I’m still in love with my flamingo stamps and used them on an endless card.

Endless card

I decluttered my card supplies and found this „endless card“. It’s quite a few years old and I don’t like the papers and colours any longer.

So I „copied“ it and made this new baby boy card with the same technique and measurements.

I’m happy with the result … and I think I might „copy“ a few more of my old cards or

try techniques again that I haven’t used for a long time.

DC Keep it in the family

Good morning, friends and crafters and crafty friends! Life is slowly accelerating over here … so I’m getting busier again every week. Which also has it’s positive sides.

The Daring Cardmakers have a new challenge for you:

Today is International Family Day!

Joanne picked the topic and said: When I chose this topic, I had no idea that there would be an extra poignancy for many of us who can't see our families because of the current lockdown restrictions.

While I’m back in school, preparing the graduating class for their final exams, I haven’t seen my family for weeks
So it’s good to celebrate families today and remind ourselves how valuable family is (and that we maybe should visit family members more often once we are able to do this again)!

I created a baby card for a new family member. The last few babies were all boys, so I’m still stuck to a baby boy colour scheme:

My crafty friend C. gave me instructions for a flip it card and I recently had time to give it a try. It was a lot of fun! But it's hard to photograph...

I decorated the inside a little bit. It’s great if you want to use several sentiments or a lot of stamped images.

I always personalize baby cards so that everyone gets used to the baby’s name 😊. I already prepared a banner, where I will glue down the letters to spell the baby‘s name. (So far I never knew the baby’s name before it was born … so all the baby cards sit in my desk drawer and wait to be finished. Once I know the name, I'll add it and then send the card off)

DC inky background

Hello, crafters! Here is the Daring Cardmakers‘ weekly challenge.

Rizwana picked her first topic for the Daring Cardmakers today. She wants to see

inky backgrounds!

I recently purchased this cute flamingo … and every time I have used it I just had to create a cool inky sunset background for it.

Here I used some distress oxide inks to create a blended background. I like the effect and I think it looks so cute with the pink flamingo.

Here’s a closer look:

And my matching nail polish (in the colour „flamingo“) 😉!

DC May elemental inspiration

Hello, crafters! Another Friday … and over here even the start of a long weekend! I hope you have nice plans for the weekend and maybe even some crafting time sheduled?!

The Daring Cardmakers have some inspiration for you.

Dawn has a beautiful inspirational picture for you:

Just pick three elements that you like and use them on your card.

I love the colour combination! For my card I picked flowers, „green“ aged wood and a sentiment on a banner.

Here is a detailed picture of the crystal glaze I used to give the flowers some dimension:

And here is the card in the golden spring sunset light …. Ah…. So beautiful!

I hope you can enjoy spring and it’s joys despite the current situation. Stay home and craft 😉!
