November Happenings

Caroline was treated to watching Annascott preform the Nutcracker this month! She has so much fun and was so proud of her talented, dancing sugar plum cousin!
And of course, the day after Thanksgiving found us in Blowing Rock hunting for the perfect tree with the Andersons! After a successful hunt, we enjoyed our tradition of Mellow Mushroom pizza at the downtown park.

Mountain Memories

Three years ago we decided to start a new tradition...family mountain weekend! This is the only trip we take with just the five of us, and it is kind of special. We have found a little cabin in Blowing Rock called "Apple of My Eye" that suits us just perfectly! Bunk beds, wood burning fire...even a hot tub!:) This year the weather was a little overcast and drizzly, but that didn't stop up from taking a little family hike on the Glen Burney Trail, hitting the General Mast Store, tackling some rock climbing (Ben David took that on!:) and just really enjoy some time together as a family.

Father and Son Annual Adventure

When September rolls around that means one very exciting trip is in store...the annual Father/Son adventure trip!! This year it was an excursion to the French Broad River for some rapids, fun canoeing and camping. I wish I could provide more details, however this is one of those trips where my boys tell me "what happens on the trip, stays on the trip"...so that is about all I can say! Here are a few pictures that were passed along:

"Sister Cousin" Beach Trip!

And not to be outdone by the boys, these ladies get their special beach time with Poppy and Marmie each year as well! It's a little more low key with these ladies...crafts, playing mommies and babies, Bible time with Marmie and Poppy, lots of good food and snacks, bike rides, scooter rides, and of course..some good boat fishing with Poppy! These cousins are more like sisters...all of 3 months apart, they are two peas in a pod.

One flies the nest...

I'm not sure I would have expected my youngest to be the first to fly the coop and head to "real" school, but that proved to be the case this fall. Caroline headed off to Kindergarten at Carmel Christian while the boys and I resumed our time at Three Oaks Academy. She was excited to go, and is off to a great start!!! Mrs. Beerbower and Mrs. Childers her teachers seem very nice...I think it's going to be an awesome year.
