Bits and Pieces of October

Brigham and Andrew have mastered at art of synchronized sleeping.  I often find them napping in the same position.
We were able to spend conference with the fabulous Betz family.  Here is Kenya with some of the outstanding members of said family for a nice post-conference stroll.
Andrew turned two this month.  It was really special to have Grandma and Grandpa Carlisle join us to celebrate.  He was in complete boy heaven when they showed up with some tractors.  Brigham obviously was too.  Grandpa is always teaching important things to the children.  He spent a good amount of time teaching Kenya the order of the seasons, by the end of the night she almost had it down perfectly.  Grandma knows just how to love each of us and give the grandmotherly affection that we all crave.
Andy helps decorate his tractor cake which he had been planning on for months.
Out at the world class Bear Trapper Steakhouse in Bear Lake.
Everyone helped decorate the tractor cake this year.  I know it is obvious what is going on with the cake, but just in case I will provide an explanation.  The loader dug a hole in the ground that was filled with rocks (choco covered raisins), the construction workers (sour patch kids) have set up cones (licorice pieces) so that the cars won't fall in the hole.
 Get ready,
 Get set,
Go!  We had the entire cake cleaned off before the first piece was cut.  We are all so happy to have this aggressive, funny, curly haired, tractor obsessed little boy in our family.
Two of the four "friends" that showed up at our house the other day.
Andrew wants to be Daddy for Halloween.  Here he is sporting a pretty good representation of his father, all except for the doggy jammies.  Andy wears them day and night, at his request, until I have to pry them off to get washed.
We were able to spend the night at the Carlisle's.  For an entire day Grandpa wrestled the boys (Andy was pretty merciless) and ate and drank whatever concoction Kenya came up with with the play tea set and mini cakes.  Grandma and I scanned as many of her old photos as we possibly could as she told me some great tales of times past.  We had such a wonderful time.  The next trip will consist of naming all of the people in the photos, but we promise not to come down again until Grandpa can practice his wrestling moves so that he can stand a chance.
I had the special privilege to go out with these beauties of friends.  It was so fun to catch up and finally see Nancy's beautiful baby boy.
Excited for: baby in 8 weeks, the development at the Reserve to move forward, children to learn new things, a visit from my brother living in Ohio, the holidays with family and friends.

Finishing up Summer

Andy gets his first haircut.
A bit unruly.  Mainly I got tired of detangling his hair after the bath.  That shouldn't happen to boys.
 After.
This is what happens when you have road base for a yard.
We went to the temple for a walk and to soak in the beauties.
It has the best climbing tree ever.
Picking plumbs in Richmond.  The tree was loaded!  Too bad I don't know an easy way to preserve them that doesn't involve the freezer.  It is currently stocked with green beans, corn, and "Dinner" our cow is still around.
Brigham says "Mom, I like to pick them and not put them in the bag, just eat them."
Kenya's genius idea for transporting the plumbs.  She insisted on pulling it the entire way back to the house.
Taking the boat out.  The water has been sooo nice!  As in it doesn't look like a lake anymore just a giant mirror.
Bean's reaction to the less-than-warm water didn't stop Kenya from jumping in.
 You get used to it.
So nice to go for a relaxing drive.
Here we come October!
