Festive Pop Garland

I just can't let the festive season pass without creating a bunting. I love to decorate the house with hand made goodies and buntings are one of my favourite!

I had loads of fun creating this and would like to share with you how I made it using the Crafters Choice Festive Pop collection.

First I cut two different sized diamonds in the 12 x 12 paper pack. I needed four so made sure I had a nice mix of the papers.

After gluing the smaller diamond on to the larger one, I folded it in half using a bone folder for the crease. Along the join of the two papers I used the Crafters Choice Silver Bling.

I then matted one of the letters from the sticker book on to some silver card stock leaving a small border around all of the edges.

I added a selection of the Festive Pop die cuts, isn't that Llama just the cutest!! Then the letter and embellished it with a gem star.

I continued making another three of these remembering to get the order right when adding the letters!!

To finish I attached them all on to a piece of twine and and added some punched out tiny holly and a red gem.

This is now hanging for all to see and it just looks fantastic!

This really is very simple to make and an added bonus is that you could use your left overs from making your Christmas cards.

Festive Pop Christmas Cards

Hello all! Well we are in to the final month of the year and with that comes (especially in my house) the panic of only a couple of weeks before Christmas and there are cards needing to be sent out before last post.

Today I am here to share some cards I made with the fun and funky Festive range!

The colour in this collection are so bright and vibrant and I just love that some of the papers have metallic on them.

This card was made by simply cutting a strip from the 6 x 6 Festive Pop paper pack and trimming it with the Crafters Choice silver bling. I mounted one of the Festive Pop stickers on to a silver circle.

For this card I used the die cuts which are also embossed with metallic. They give a beautiful finish to the shapes. These baubles looked lovely being raised up slightly from the back ground.

I opted for a slightly different shape for the centre of this card when teaming it up with the Sleigh from the Festive Pop die cuts. The beauty about the die cuts is they can either be left as they are or it is so easy to dress them up with bling or other embellishments.

Christmas Decorations

Hello Everyone

Today I am here to share with you a little Christmas Decoration that I made using the Nostalgic Treasure papers.

I am quite a fan of Origami and love making the Kusudama flowers which, when glued together, create a beautiful ball. You can add ribbon to the centre of them but I decided to keep it free standing.

I made a little video on how to make the petals of the flower. (sorry for the music, I need to learn how to add a voice!) I have used 3 x 3 inch pieces of paper to create each petal.

Each flower needs five of the petals and they are glued together along the long edge.

Once you have twelve flowers you can join the petals together to create the ball.

To decorate it I die cut some leaves from the green tartan paper and glued them in the spaces.

A fun little decoration to make which I am sure once you make one, you'll make many!

Oh my goodness … I am so in love with the new Christmas collections from Crafter Choice and I have to say the Nostalgic Treasure is my favourite.

There is so much in this collection to create with and I adore the traditional colours of Christmas. I really threw my Santa hat in the ring when I created this card, digging out my Kuretake alcohol makers. I still have a lot of learning when it comes to colouring in but isn't this sledge stamp filled with Santa's gift just so cute!

After stamping and colouring the image, I cut it out using a circle die and mat it on the gold mirror luxury cardstock. I then edged the circle with the red crafts choice bling. I used the 6 x 6 paper pack as I love the way the designs are shrunk but this also available in a 12 x 12 pack.

One of my all time favourites from Ruby Rock It are the fantastic die cuts. There are so many in each pack that you'll never be stuck with for an embellishment! This is how I finished the bottom of the card using a die cut holly.

Christmas will soon be on us before and I know I'll be creating many more cards with this collection - Nostalgic Treasures.

Hello, here I am today sharing a layout using another of the latest releases ….. Swim Medley!

Such a fun collection and perfect for your budding swimmer or just a lazy day by the pool.

I recently purchased a new watch and was eager to try out all the features on it. It's been a long time since I have swam but while on holiday I decided to dive into the blue seas and swim to the island and back.

I loved how these papers coordinated really well with the Bella Coast collection giving it a real seaside effect. The little people swimming across the page reminded me of the choppy swim over!

The background was simple to create by using sequin waste as a stencil and inking over the top with the Tim Holtz distress inks. I then sprayed and splattered some gold smooch over the top.

Behind the photo I folded some of the rope paper to add some little tags and I then cut some stars out of the Glitzy Gold Paperz.

I cut one of the piece of Medley Montage coupons up so I could create a layered effect on the layout rather than placing down a large block of words. I couldn't resist cutting out some of the little lady swimmers from the paper and adding them to the layout.

To finish I added some of the Bling Rain Drops, so adorable and perfect for adding a watery feel.

This really was a fun collection to work with, it would be lovely to see what you create with your Swim Medley papers.

There really is no better feeling than opening a box of new product to create with and I was really excited when I saw the Just Dance collection. Filled with pretty little dancers which were perfect for making a card and door hanger for the little ballet dancer I know.

First of all I created the card. I used the checker paper for the background which I glued to one of the card blanks. Next I layered up some of the ballet dancer paper on the white glitzy paper which really allows for a wee bit of sparkle. To decorate the card I cut a ballet shoe from the papers and added it along with some bling. I used one of the little bling hearts which are just the cutest for decorating.

To make the little ballet shoe hanger I used an two different sized oval dies. I used the larger one to cut two the same in different papers.

I then used the smaller die and placed it towards the back of larger oval. This created a little cut out to create the illusion of the ballet shoe.

I used foam pads to adhere the front section of the shoe to the back. I then decorated with the bows and cute little bling hearts to finish

I like to doodle, I doodle on everything and sometimes I doodle sketches … today I am here to share one of my sketches that I drew and the layout that I created afterwards.

I decided to use the adorable Bella! Blush collection to create this layout of a fun day out having an afternoon tea out. The soft colours and floral patterns matched perfectly with delicious cakes that were served to us.

The Blush Collection is mainly a wedding themed collection but with the double sided papers this can be used for anything that you want. It allows you to stretch your imagination!

There are so many beautiful embellishments in the Fundamental collection and Bling in the Crafters Choice collection available at Spotlight stores Down Under that you can add to your layouts to make them sparkle.

Good morning! This month I have a little visitor coming to stay and I wanted to make a little gift bag for her which I could fill with some goodies.

I used the Bella! Pink Lady collection to create the bag as this wee thing is a very girlie girl so all the pink is just awesome!

To make this bag I took the Umbrella paper and cut a 2" strip off one of the edges.

On the 12" length of the paper I scored at 5, 6, and 7 inches.

On the outside score lines I marked down on 3" and then cut down to the mark. I then folded in the center and glued down.

To make the border on the bag I cut a 12 x 2" strip in the Hearts and Stripes paper and folded it in half before gluing it over the top edge.

I decorated the bag using a variety of Ruby Rock-it goodies that I have in my craft stash. It's always good fun to mix and match different collections.

To finish it off I added the name using the sticker alphabets and added some coordinating tissue paper into the bag. I am so looking forward to seeing the little girls face when she opens it.

The Colours of Greece

Hello, today I have a layout to share with you.

This summer we headed to a little Greek island for our holiday and I wanted to keep the memories going!

The Bella! So Blue collection really appealed to me. I love the 'Cut Ups' paper and instead of cutting them up I decided to use them for the background.

The segments of pictures and patterns are beautiful and really set off the photo and the colours of Greece. Above one of the patterned strips I cut a strip of the So Blue 'Sequins' which added a wee bit of sparkle to the layout.

I think the favourite bit is the position of the moon and stars as we often sat in the same place and watch the stars at night glowing in the sky.

I used some of my older Ruby Rock It products to decorate the layout. I cut around some of the Bella! Glitzy Gold Paper Fish Scales and added it to the bottom of the photo.

Hello everyone!

Recently I found a different style of card to have a try at and I just love it! The star effect card is such a easy card to make but looks simply stunning! I couldn't resist making a male card using the Bella! Superhero mini collection. The 'Pow's and Wow's' are going to 'POP' with this card!

Here is how I made the card.

First I cut a piece of card and paper to measure 8 x 7 inches. I used the Superhero Splat paper for this card.

Fold the card in half , along the longer edge. Use a tool to make sure you have a good crease.

Open the card stock and cut from the centre to the bottom right.

Repeat on the other side and then with the patterned paper.

Glue patterned paper the pieces on to the green card stock. If you want a border trim a small amount off the patterned paper. On the large triangle I flipped the paper so you can see the 'super hero's'. I cut the large patterned triangle down the centre before gluing it to the green card.

Fold the triangle in half and the bottom edge of the triangle measure up and mark at 2 inches.

Next place the card on to a cutting mat with the bottom edge on one of the measuring lines. Then place the mark in line with one of the straight lines. Cut down a 3/4 inch through all four layers.

Over lap the two other triangles so they look like this. Secure them in the center with glue.

To make the card up you simply insert the two triangles in to the slots, cut earlier. The picture below shows how it should look

Next I cut a range of words and pictures from the Superhero Collage and Jigsaw papers.

Glue your choosen cut outs on to the star.

Once you are happy with the arrangement, assemble your card and 'Pow' there you have it!

A Scottish Theme

Today I am here to share some Scottish themed cards with you which I was inspired to make when I saw the *new* Purple Haze Paperz from Bella!

The luxurious purples just reminded me of the hills when they are laden with heather …. so what better than to share a wee bit of Scotland with you.

The little scotty dog is my favourite so I thought I would share with you how I made it. The technique of how to make a stand up card using dies can be used for many designs.

I used the Sizzix Scotty dog die and die cut one in the Bella Indigo Hearts & Strips Paperz.

I then cut one of the Bella! Purple Haze Segments and placed this on the die in the centre of the dogs back which I then die cut and then cut into the shape of a rug on it's back. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Mowed Lawn distress ink and faux stitched around the edge. I added a gold collar and then added the rug with foam pads.

To create the little thistle on the collar I simple cut a few strips in the purple and cut some small slits before rolling it with the colour on the inside. This way I could push the centre out to create the effect of the thistle.

Cutting a thin strip from the Lime Bella Hearts and Stripes Paperz I rolled it to create a coil which I then inserted the thistle into before adding it to the collar along with some leaves.

I added a Bling Heart and Alpha Letters to personalise the card.

Next I needed to create the stand up card. To do this I took one of the Fundamental Black cards and placed the fold on to the centre of the dog on the die making sure it cover the back, as shown :

It then gave the card base which I could attach my decorated Scotty Dog 'Morag' on!

The thistle card was made by using a circular punch and sticking thin strips of purple haze paper to the reverse of them to create the spikes on a thistle.

The Crafter Choice bling rhinestone letters were so perfect for adding a big bold Scotland and of course a wee bit of sparkle!

I also love the Fundamental Alpha Stickers … they are my go to product for cards.

Selfie Queen Mini Album

Hello! New RRBF products are in the house!!

It would have been rude not to get straight to work and create, wouldn't you say?

Having a teenage daughter who is forever taking selfies, it was the Selfie Queen collection that stood out to me. I decided to make a mini album for her to store all her pictures in.

I know this is going to be a challenge for her as the photos tend to stay on the phone but being an old school mum I'm encouraging her to print them out!

The bright and vibrant colours of this collection are great for teenagers. The collection is filled with lots of mini statements which can be cut out and arranged on the pages.

The album I used had lots of premade pockets, if you don't have one like this it is easy to add extra pieces of card to create your own pockets.

I really challenged myself to use only the papers to create my own embellishments.

The Bella! Fusion papers coordinated so well with this collection and having a range of colours you could really personalise the album for some one.

The Bling and Glitter card stock helped to add some jazz and sparkle to the album, and the fussy cutting, well there is loads of it! The flowered paper is just the best for it!

I think she loved the book and I'm crossing fingers that the printer will be in action shortly … Probably with the crazy ones of me from Snapchat!

The last time I was here I shared my Café Dream vision board. To create the board I needed a note book to write down all my ideas, inspirational quotes and somewhere to stock all my cuttings from magazines.

It began life as a plain note pad but once my Vison Board came to life I decided to make a cover for it using the left over papers and embellishments.

Cafe Dream Vision

Good Morning!

Today I am here to share something a little different with you. We were challenged this month to make a vision board and this is what I came up with …

It seem natural for me to share my dream of one day owning my own coffee shop.

Here is how my vision board came together.

First I collected all my pictures, quotes and cuttings from magazines.

I dusted off an old picture frame and arranged the pictures on the frame so that I could see a rough plan of how I wanted it too look. I took a photo of it so and cold place the photos back on once I had made the background.

To make the back ground I cut strips of glitter card and made a frame the size of the backing board. I repeated this with the pebbles paper from the Bella! Coast range. I then finished off the centre with a piece of the rope paper. I choose this paper as my dream place for opening a café would be near the sea, and these papers could not cry out 'sea' any louder!

Next I made some tags as backings for the quotes I had cut out. I used a few different tag shapes in the fundamentals range to add some variety. For this tag I inked around the edges and then cut some corrugated card to back the quote on.

On this tag I created a back ground by adding some white dots to the inked edges and scratching the edges of the paper with scissors to create a worn look.

These are a selection of the tags that I made which I have used on the . It is a good way to use all the little cut offs from the collections.

I then placed all of the pictures on to the backing board and tweaked them to how I wanted the final piece to look.

So for now I have this on the wall to remind me of my dream and I will look at it daily to remind me of the vision that I have …. now I just need to make it happen!

Happy Birthday Pop Up Card

Hello, today I have a little tutorial on how to make a pop up card.

I wanted to create something a little unique for the receiver.

The beauty of this card design is that it can fold neatly in an envelope but with one small step it changes in to a pop up card.

So here is how you make this fun little card :

First of all you need to take a card blank of your choice. Fold it back on itself so that the colour is on the inside. Then take the top side and fold the outside edge in to the middle. You card should look like the picture below.

Next cut a piece of the balloon paper to fit on the top left hand side of the fold. Though the balloons are on their side in the picture you need to make sure that when the card stands up they are in the right direction. Leave this to one side.

Next to make the top of the card.

Cut another card blank in half, you will only need one side of it.

Cut a piece of balloon paper slightly smaller than the base. Turn it over and cut a window in the centre leaving a 1cm border all around. The easiest way to do this is mark at 1cm points around each side and join them up before cutting out the square in the centre.

Glue this to the card blank as shown below.

Cut a piece of pink glitter card 3cm x 10.5cm and glue a piece of numbers paper measuring 2.5cm x 10.5cm on top. Adhere this to the bottom section on the card and trim off any excess.

Cut a 'happy birthday' from the Birthday Wish paper and glue to the top. You can ink the edges by running one of the ink pads lightly down the side if desired.

Decorate along the number paper with birthday cakes and candles. The ones I used are from an older release from Ruby Rock-it. It's always good to have a rummage and see what can be found!!

Next we need to create the 'stopper' for the card which allows it to stand up, a bit like a little easel.

First take one of the mini doilies and cut it in half. Repeat this with another one.

Glue these to the back of a piece of card stock measuring 3cm x 10.5cm. These can be showing as much or little as you'd like. Once that is dry to the centre of the base card using foam pads.

Decorate with more birthday paper and some gems to give it a wee sparkle.

Next take you top piece and add glue on the side opposite the balloon paper, lay the decorated card on the top. This is a cleaner way of making sure that nothing goes on the back of the card where it shouldn't be!

When you have done that test out your pop up card!

There are lots of wonderful coloured card blanks available in the Ruby Rock-it Fundamental range and they are a perfect base for some quick little baby cards which I am here to share with you today.

I had some off cuts from the Bella Baby and Hearts and Strips papers and combined them with cards.

After cutting an adorable little bear and birdie from the Baby Boy Little Teddies paper, I arranged them on top of a Francheville mini doily which I decorated with teeny little gems. The nice thing about these are that they are on a wee sticky string which allows them to be placed in position easily.

For this baby girl card I wanted to make a mini clothes line with the pegs with the cute baby grow on the papers. I choose the silver pegs but they come in a range of colours. On this one I inked the edges of the doily to soften them.

You may have noticed the sentiments on all of these cards. The ones on the boy and girl card have a clear background which can be added to create a clean look as if you have just stamped on to the card. The brown backed stickers are little sentiments that can be mixed on used on their own.

With a wonderful array of colours in gloss and matt these cards should be in your basic cardmaking kit.

Spring Garland with RRBF

Hello, today I have a little Spring garland to share with you that I made to put in my dining room for the Easter weekend.

I was inspired to make daffodils as they are all in bloom at the moment.

I love making flowers up and have quite a few dies which I switch between using.

The little tutorial here can be adapted with any of your flower dies which you may have.

First I cut some petals in a range of yellow papers from RRBF. The Fusion collection is brilliant for this. I also used the Foiled Hearts and Strips collection.

Next I inked the edges of each of the petals with Tim Holtz Burnt Marmalade and the blending tool to create a subtle edge. To achieve this start on your mat in circular movements before coming in and catching the edge of your paper.

Next I cut some circles out and then cut to the centre in a spiral. I then spun them around starting from the out side until I came to the middle where I secured them with a glue gun.

Once all my pieces where ready I put them all together to create the flowers. Paper is so pliable so I was able to move the petals in to the way I wanted them to look.

Next came the finishing touches … the gorgeous little gold rain drops were perfect to add 'stigma' to the flower.

My leaves were die cut out of the Greenery papers. The different patterns on the paper give some dimension to the leaves.

I took large length/amount of raffia and added a bow in the centre and glued the flowers to it. I had some 3D butterflies which were in my DT kit from when I was on the team a few years back which I added too. It's always good to see what wee gems may be hidden in your crafting stash!

This garland can be adapted to anytime of the year using different coloured flowers. How amazing would it look at a wedding or made into a corsage?

Mother's Day Frame

Time really does fly and it is the beginning of Spring here in the UK. The weekend bought the celebration of Mother's Day and amongst all the afternoon teas we served in the café I found some time to create this little frame.

I love the pink hues that are on the Bella! Greenery Flax paper which, when mixed with RRBF Faded Empire, really popped! I layered different papers on to of the cardboard mount inside the boxed photo frame, cutting out the aperture with each layer.

I some times like to add some sparkle to my layouts and creations but the painfully slow and fiddly process of adding them drives me insane! But not anymore … look at this string of metallic gold bling, just stick and go. The also set off the glitter hearts in the Bella! Glitzy Gold Heart paper.

Once I had added the back ground and photo I took some letters to the frame from the Faded Empire collection.

To finish I created some 3D flowers from the Faded Empire papers using a die and die cut some leaves from the Bella! Greenery Grass paper. Just perfect for foliage.

Getting Hitched with Cosmo

Hello, today I am here to share a few cards that I made with the Bella! Cosmos Mini Themes.

The mini themes from Bella! are brilliant a range for quick makes, each paper is double sided allowing more choice for your projects.

To break up the purple I used the Bella! Getting Hitched collection which coordinated really well.

For this Happy Birthday card I used one of the toppers cut from the Manifest paper. Not being into yoga, I decided to cover the centre with a tag. I really love the wee gold dots around the edge.

The next card I created was Celebrate Happiness. Again I used the toppers and cut some of the symbols from them before adding to the card. I made use of the words from the Mantras paper and cut one to become part of my greeting.

The Fundamental A6 Card Serenity Blue card blank matches perfectly with this collection.

Finally came some fussy cutting with the feathers and butterflies from the papers to create this card. I used a die to create the background. I cut one in the Mantras paper and the other with the gold glitz paper and cut each one to make some of it sparkle. Using the cut outs these were really good for making a glitzy solid edge.

The rich purple colours lend themselves to the yellow of the Getting Hitched papers but of course there are many other colours that can be used.

Oh and the little bodies on the butterflies are cut from the Bella! Bling. Choose the one you like and stick them in the centre of the wings! This is also a good way to use up little bits that you may have trimmed off for other projects.

Letting Off Some Steam

Good morning …

I am super excited to share with you my first DT creation since being back on the team.

After delving into my box of goodies it was the Bella Mini Theme Steamworks collection that jumped out at me and this is what I created with it.

The steamworks papers has some amazing inspirational quotes perfect for a climber which drew me to this collection.

To start with I ripped a piece off the Steamworks Invention paper and inked it before sticking it to the bottom of some grey card stock. Next I cut out a hot air balloon and the gentleman on his flying machine and inked them and left them to one side. From the Steamworks Odds & Ends paper I cut some quotes, pictures and a strip of paper from the reverse of the paper as shown as in the picture on the right.

I can't resist a bit of fussy cutting, so the cogs on the Clockwork paper where just crying out to be snipped in to!

I also cut a line from the Glitzy Gold Paper Fish Chevron paper following the glittered chevron as a guide. Then I built up the back ground of the layout tucking the cogs behind the papers. I attached a line of twine along the centre.

I sandwiched one of the quotes between two different sheets of card stock before adding the photo.

To create the feel of the climbing wall I cut some climbing hold shapes out of corrugated card and inked them before attaching them randomly up one side of the layout.

To finish the layout I did some more fussy cutting of the clock and add some of the wood veneer shapes, letters and arrows.

Picking Up The Glue and Crafting Again

Hello! It's really hard to believe that it's been quite a while since I lasted posted on this blog, though that is about to change! After spending a few years away from crafting and not getting rid of any of my stash I have been tempted back again.

I have been privileged to design for many teams, so it may not surprise you to know that I have been asked to design for Ruby Rock It again.

So I am re setting up the blog and found this below which hadn't been published from when I was last on the team!

Enjoy seeing some of the older RRBF and it won't be long until I return here with some new inspiration!

It's hard to believe that summer is nearly upon us and the weather has finally warmed up! At this time of year our thoughts always turn to Father's/Dad's/Pop's or what ever these special men in your life may be called.

Today I am here to share with you some inspiration for Father's day with a little gift and card made using the Boy Mini Theme set.

The 'Boy' Mini Theme set has some really cool greeting on the papers and some brilliant little die cuts too. I saw an opportunity to use some of the iwood papers too to create these masculine gifts.

The iwood paper is used here to create a banner on the back of the card to break up the black card a bit. There is a piece of the collection which has lovely hues of blue on it as well as the brown colour.

I cut out one of the greetings and then built up around it using the die cuts.

The beer bottle has some of the iwood paper wrapped around the centre and then I used the 'Boy's papers to create a label for the front. The wood veneer products work fabulously for this.

The carrier is flat when you get it so I was able to decorate it easily. I used the iwood collection as the base as I love the rustic look it gives. I dressed it up using the Graduation Mini Theme papers as the colours matched really well with the iwood papers.

The quote I used along the top was taken from the original carrier and I liked it so much that I didn't want it not to be seen.

I hope I have inspired you to take some thing ordinary and create something new! The iwood is a perfect place to start and you can find it at your local RRBF stockist.

Some Happy Days Godmother!

Hello, this month we have been celebrating mums and today I wanted to share a layout that I made in honour of a beautiful 'Godmum' to my girls. She is such a fun loving lady and just brings sunshine where ever she is. She makes us giggle and the girls just love her to bits!

This photo was taken just after she had surprised the them and it was a brilliant day. Needless to say I used one of my favourite ranges 'Happy Days' again to create the layout.

I used a paper punch to create the scalloped edge and then added some of the droplets in different sizes along the edge to give it a 3D effect. The die cuts added some dimension to by adding them with foam pads.

Another thing that the Happy Days collection is great for is fussy cutting, so many little this to cut out like the singing bird in the picture above.

Another addition to the layout with the wood veneer is the clear wording that stick easily on to your projects without taking over the whole layout.

Mother's Day

Today I am here to share some inspiration for mother's day. I have used one of my favourite collections, Happy Days, to create the cards. I just love the fresh fun colours and designs of this collection.

This is a simple card to make and is a stepper version. Cutting out the family of owls I added them along the fold of the card to give it a look as if they are perched on the edge of a tree.

This next card is made using all the little left over pieces that I have saved from other projects. There was a lot of fussy cutting in this one but I really enjoyed creating this card.

Finally this card uses a die cut butterfly and a greeting cut from the 'Happy Days' paper. A few left over strips of paper adds some colour to the back of the card.

A little lantern light

I am so loving that the clocks have gone forward and that the evenings are drawing out meaning more time for chilling outside.

Today I have a little lantern to share with you which I made with the Faded Empire and iWood collections to help shed a little light on my outside table.

WoW Embossing Powders

First of all I create a rectangle shape in the iWood papers before cutting out some apertures. I wanted to have a frosted effect on the 'glass' so I used some tracing paper.

Using the Faded Empire stamps, Versa mark ink and WoW white embossing powder I created a border along the top edge.

I then used the keyhole stamp and add this to the centre, but instead of the white embossing powder I used a clear one so that it looked like a watermark. I then added them to the sections on the inside of the panels.

I assembled the lantern together and then decorated the base with some different flowers cut out from the Faded Empire papers mixing and matching the colour scheme.

I love the mellow lighting it gives off and think I'll be making some more to add all around outside .... as long as the rain holds off!
