My Cakes

Around my Daughter Lydia's 2nd birthday I discovered that I have a new talent.

Cake Decorating. It all started when I was surfing on Bettycrocker.com and came across a Barn cake. I watched the Tutorial video on it and was HOOKED. I have not taken any cake classes it has all pretty much been web videos and trial and error. I have had fun with it and also been very frustrated with it but I feel so blessed to be able to pull it off and make a couple Birthday kids thrilled to see how fun their cakes are.

Pirate Cake for my Brother in-law
Kitty Cat Cake for my Niece
Board Shorts cake for my Brother in-law

Flip Flop Cake for my Sisters in-law

Pony Cake for my Sister in-law
Sleeping Beauty Cake for Lydia's 3rd birthday
Football Field Cake for a Friend

Slumber Party Cake for my sister inlaw

This last cake I did (the Slumber Party cake) was my first time making my own Fondant and I was happy to see that it actually turned out pretty good. I may use it in the future.

Suger Plum is sitting on her own!

Audrey is 5 1/2 months and sitting without our support. She is still a sweet baby and we just love having her around.

The last week or so we have noticed she has discovered she likes sucking her thumb. Just like her aunties and cousin used to do. :o)

5 months today!

Wow! 5 month ago this sweet baby came into our world. Now she has grown and learned so much since. She is a very good baby. Still sleeping through the night and a very good eater. Of course she has one more month till we can start feeding her baby cereal and baby food. She has brown eyes like her daddy. She enjoys tummy time and already rolled over from tummy to back and is still working on back to tummy but getting close. She is just now started to sit upright without our support. She also likes to stick out her tongue. We think she is teething because she drools a lot and gums our fingers and anything else in arms reach and can fit in her mouth. Her laugh is so stinking cute and so is her toothless smile. She loves it when her big sister plays with her and makes her laugh. She has truly been a joy to have in our home and family.

Experiment with Baby Audrey

I did a little experiment with Audrey (who is 5 months today!) She had been awake since 7:30 this morning. She usually takes 15 minutes cat naps through out the day unless she decided to do a marathon nap which doesn't happen to often. So I wrapped her up, laid her in her crib (wide awake) put her pacifier in, played her Seahorse glow worm (thank you Aunt Julie) and left the room. She cried for 10 minutes. I went it put her pacifier back in, played her seahorse and left. She was asleep after 5 more minutes. I sure hope we can make this a daily routine!

Dr. visit.

Left: Audrey 4 months old, Top right: Audrey exhausted from her Dr. visit.
Bottom right: Lydia showing me where on her leg she got her shot.
Thursday of this week I took the girls to see Dr. Smith. Lydia had to go for her 3 year old immunization shot and Audrey got her 4 month old shots. Dr. Smith said Lydia had a GREAT imagination. She pretended to make him a birthday cake while we had our visit. Doc. played along with her. I really like that about him. After he was done the nurse came in to do the dirty work. Lydia went first for obvious reasons. She cried when she got the shot and then once I held her she stopped crying and quickly gave the nurse a dirty look. I tried to re-frame from laughing. Next Audrey had her turn she to cried and then calmed down once I held her.
Just before we left two siblings were in the toy room along with Lydia they were crying and telling her they got a shot in the leg. Lydia calm and collected showed them where on her leg she got her shot. I was listing the whole time it was quite funny. They then told their mother that she (Lydia) had a shot too, and their mom said "and look she's not crying about it any more." I have to say that was a super funny trip to the Drs. office.

Pretty Princess 3rd Birthday today!

Happy Birthday to my little Lydia!

Last night we had a family birthday party for Lydia. She was so thrilled. Charles' mother and her three kids Evan, Liz and Emily came over for dinner we had Shredded Pork Nachos and then cake and ice cream for dessert.

I asked Lydia over a month ago if she wanted a Princess cake for her birthday and she said... "Yay! Sleeping Beauty" This was my first doll cake and I have to say I did good. :0) I was so glad that I could make my Baby Girl a cake to remember. I love her so much she is the best thing to happen to me. (along with her baby sister Audrey).

SISTERS

Here is Big Sister Lydia listening to Audrey's heart the day she was born.
We had an excellent nurse who was so good with Lydia and had her help with Audrey's first bath.
I love how she is looking at her little sis.

Tummy time!
This picture was taken after we found that Lydia had picked up Audrey from off the ground and was holding her in her arms on he couch.
I love my girls!
