Ode to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Yes some of you may know that I am a Manchester United football club fan of over 17 years. I wear my Man Utd jersey proudly with my name printed at the back ha..

My favourite player was and is not Ronaldo, Rooney, Ferdinand, Giggs or Scholes. It is and always will be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The baby faced assasin who stole my heart when I was all of 10 years old. He joined Man Utd in 1996 and the 35 year old is still my favourite player because he never fails to score goals the moment he subs another player. The "Super Sub" was my hero too when he scored the winning goal agains Bayern Munich in the dying seconds so we finally won the treble.

So imagine my elation when I went into the Man Utd website (was mourning my loss that my boyfriend Chris Eagles decided to play for Burnley) and saw a sub heading for Solskjaer. He is playing his final retirement/testimonial match (after one year of hanging his boots) against Espanyol this saturday. I am gonna watch I swear because I have been pinning my loss that I am unable to watch him play ANYMORE.

Hot in his penguin suit this year.

Champions of Europe 1999

After scoring a goal. . .

I look forward to watching Jersey no 20 this saturday.

I hope he scores a goal.

Back from my little getaway and I must say that the past weekend since friday has been the best weekend of 2008 for me.

Friday, Sammi and I decided to surprise Reney with a bday cake at her house at night. Knowing she will be in her pyjamas and all hehe.

We LOVE YOU TIRENE!

The cake. Sammi had the telepathy to buy the same cake I had for my 22nd bday even when she wasn't there.

Lighting the candles at the corridor.

Twin Power.

Love this photo.

As for my Melaka trip, for the benefit of my friends who do not have facebook, I took 500 photos and 3 videos. Posted (almost) all of them up on facebook and I'm so exhausted by it now.

The girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves during this trip. Basically the hotel stay was so good as we were in the middle of all the attractions, We had time to shop, eat peranakan, hainanese chicken rice balls, nyonya laksa and cendol, visit Jonker st (Chinatown), Heeren St(Peranakan Lane), St Paul's Hill, A Famosa, Jacuzzi, listen to Hokkien ktv, spiral up the 360 degree observation tower, visit the Maritime Ship Museum.

One thing about why I love this trip is that I went with some of my closest girlfriends and we were all just so accomodating of each other. Fuss free and bitchy free and we laughed and took so many photos that these memories will always be in my heart. It was just genuine bliss and I know that I didn't choose the wrong gfs to go with me on this much desired holiday.

Such peektures that I love. Will slowly post some more when I'm in the mood.

Dearest Cline,

this pictorial is only a fraction of the growth of our friendship and the in-expressable things that we went through together. 6 years of friendship since Lilo and Stitch. Still my brainy and always will be. I am forever thankful that you were the first to arrive and to help me through those darkest days when my mum passed away. Thank you for lending me that shoulder for always having me close to your heart and that this friendship has always been so secured.

A beautiful woman of God and I'm so happy each time to hear the wonderful breakthroughs in your life. We both went through much in our personal walk with God but the glory is there in your life and I absolutely believe that the desires of your heart, He very well knows.

I really look forward to a friendship that will last beyond time and to see each other grow gracefully and strongly in our walk with daddy God.

I love you babe and may His righteousness, abundance and grace hunt you down.

My Precious Reney,

no words can ever describe how this friendship ever was forged. We are so different in character and yet God placed us together in the same class. I will never forget the times spent singing together, linking arms walking to the canteen, you playing the guitar and us trying to harmonise, me calling you when I felt distinctly something was wrong, our 1000001 photos taken in JC and much more.

The memories and love have never stopped just because we graduated. Thank you for loving me for accepting me for who I am and just for letting me know that you care. We will walk this journey together till gst in Singapore becomes obsolete. I really look forward to seeing us being used mightily for His kingdom. Love you babe.

Judging from the absolute regularity of my blog, you can just know how free I am in the office at the current moment.

Just want to blog about the movie The Dark Knight that I watched yesterday. Was having a painful and throbbing headache but I thoroughly enjoyed the show. There was a lot of talk about The Joker's stories and "Why So Serious?" quote. But beyond that superficiality, I saw an actor that had a lot of giftings in him. It's just tragic that he died so young like many other actors before him. James Dean, River Phoenix, Marilyn Monroe etc.

Ironically speaking, I have never watched any of Heath Ledger's movies. So whilst The Joker character was his last, it was my first watching him on the big screen. And The Joker paint he put on was a mask of death. The ultimate spiral into a web of no return. My dear movie partner teared at the end of the show and I could really feel the loss of one of Hollywood's brightest stars.

I chanced upon his quotes and of all those he said. . . I particularly loved this one. A quote that speaks greatly of my character too and ideals that I live by. I do own a diary but I've gradually decided to leave them at home.

"I'm not good at future planning. I don't plan at all. I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow. I don't have a day planner and I don't have a diary. I completely live in the now, not in the past, not in the future." - Heath Ledger

I hope he wins that posthumous Oscar. He greatly deserved it.

I'm currently waiting for lunch time. But oh wait. I'm on duty today for recep. Dammit. Haha.

Anw, I was so bored that I started reading entries I wrote in 2003. What a great difference really, 5 years make. I can't believe how disorganised, random and puerile my thoughts were when I was in JC. And boy was I random. The language I used. Tomorrow = tom and I punctuated all my sentences with ...

But those entries did bring back happier times when I was more carefree. And because this week is Reney and Cline's bday and every year I dedicate an entry on their actual bdays, I thought to read back on every July of those entries.

Pretty sentimental I must say. And thank goodness I have a blog because many of my photos from my old comp got erased. Hence, this blog would help me to salvage 4 years worth of photos. For that I'm glad. I really believe my blog grew up with me. Reminiscing and being my memory for thoughts and dreams I have already long forgotten. Blog entries dedicated to friends and joy shared through the past 5 years. I kinda think my blog is my unseen and silent best friend and the bridge to communicate with friends who assume they knew me but the reality was far from it.

I realised even my style of writing is different now. Seriously, now, I can read back on my entry 2 3 times just to make sure the language is fluent and the words spelt correctly. I have this quirk that when I see glaring spelling mistakes, it just makes me very uneasy.

Anw, because I'm bored, I shall do this survey by RANDY DANDY

I'm still pretty nasal these days. What with the ever running nose and the itchy throat and dry mouth. But my spirits are still pretty up at this point.

I'm gonna be real busy this week going on a date with my soul babe and christian bale. Though if Heath was alive then I wouldn't mind saying it's a double date. Apart from that, I'm gonna be meeting my 3 other babes to plan the itinerary for our short getaway. And many more to come inconclusive dates to confirm.

Anw, though I'm so busy in life, there's always time to immerse myself with good HK dramas because of the sudden drought in korean and taiwan dramas. Yes, I am a drama addict and I can watch drama series and complete them whilst battling my exams and assignments. Hehe.

I just completed Forensic Heroes II. Clocking in 30 episodes in 6 days. Not withstanding the fact I had night classes, work and my part time job. Hehe. And watching both The Seventh Day and Forensic Heroes II, I'm currently nursing a major fat crush on Kevin Cheng or Zeng Jia Ying if I'm not wrong. So humsome ah. And my brother was telling me the goodlooker is 38 going 39 in two weeks leh. How did he maintain his physique and looks?!!

Yes do not tell me what a sucker I am for guys with thick eyebrows. Sigh...
And the fact he has such a great deep undertone to his voice and when he speaks Cantonese, it's like it suddenly became the world's sexiest language. Yes just ignore me ppl. I'm finding my bliss. haha.

And just a couple of class photos with our another American professor. Dr Winn.

The one with Joel

The one with Tim

I really have a bunch of really funny, fun and cool classmates who have interesting jobs and stories to tell. Though, I'm the youngest and it's really not hard to determine since this is a NIGHT class but I'm glad to know these people because I typically do not have the mentality of my physical age.

And just some random musings about life. I know this is really far far away. Like maybe one and a half years down the road. But I've decided to make it my goal. That when I finish my university education, I am going to travel the world for a bit. Say 3 months. Of coz I hope nothing changes abt my plans because I really am excited about it. This is my said plan as of today.

-Set off in 1st week of January for Israel. Spend 8 days there.
-Mid January for Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. See ruins in Angkor Wat etc. . .
-Either come back sg and repack for Australia or board direct flight there. Stay in Perth one month with dear Anais. Yes I promise to wash the dishes dear if your uncle allows. Hee. Travel to Sydney in March and attend the Hillsong Women's Conference. Stay for two weeks there in Backpackers' Inn.
-Take plane to Bangkok. Do volunteer work and take train back to Singapore. Estimated 2 weeks.

Yup, while you ppl are in the working sector, I will be travelling the world hehe. I will definitely start saving up after my US trip. Will quit my current job when I finally do graduate. Am so excited. I shall not be limited by my current cycle of school and work.

Facial tonight. Such therapy. =))

The stagnation of my blog can only be blamed on my sudden bout of fever, flu, cough and sore throat as well as the commencement of my lectures.

Yesterday, my lectures for Values and Cultures finally came to an end and though I am glad I dun have to rush for any lectures till 5 weeks later but I am quite exhausted about all that talk of sociology and psychology and ethics and BLAH.

Now tt the illness and my lectures are over, I cannot help but breathe a sigh of relief though I'm not too happy till 10 minutes later, I must chiong off to Sg Pools and work AGAIN. I hate my pace of life right now coz I cannot do the things I love. That's kinda like what my lecturer was saying on not "following my bliss". And life on this fragile globe is just too short for me to ponder on the what if's.

I am excited about my impending short getaway and I just know that my life is just gonna get better than I ever thought it would be.

Contrary to what I initially felt, I now do not enjoy my lectures as much as I thought I would. Theres a neverending sense of being questioned about all the beliefs I stood for and the foundations my actions and thoughts are based.

But nevertheless, I'm thankful I have no exams and I don't have to waste my leave. Yay.

Anw, about the picnic @ BG, seriously when I said I THOUGHT my idea was original and Anais also already founded the same ideas that meant I was being sarcastic about myself. Like HOW ORIGINAL. And I was mainly concentrating on the picnic basket like who carries a picnic basket these days kinda thing haha. But pleasantly surprised to receive all the tags, hence knowing that BG is a popular spot which is common but not many venture to take the prigrimage.

Oh, and lately I have been musing over these...

Camel Cigarette ad 1932 - Naturally FRESH, never parched, never toasted.
And you begin to wonder why cigarettes are being referred to as fresh, since after some time they all become lao hong. hehe

Coca Cola ad 1939 - It had to be good to get where it is
Pretty cool since it finally went on sale on a British ship Europa in the 1930s.

Johnnie Walker ad 1938 - When you have a good hobby, it pays to stick with it.
Wahaha, I think need to call Alcohol Anonymous on this one.

Oh did you know that before WWII, most cigarette ads in Europe and America featured women. I wonder why. I always thought cigarettes were supposed to be a symbol of masculinity. Why target the women?

Basically, I have been musing over vintage print ads because I just find it so amazing how advertisements just evolve over the decades. I wish I could show more fashion print ads but I haven yet found many pretty ones yet.

Randomly, I'm so excited. It's 15 days to Melaka. Weee..

It's been raining pretty much and heavy in the morning. Makes me wish so much I don't have to go to work.

Nonetheless, I've been feeling great and damn free as you can see from the frequency of my blog entries. Firstly, I would like to say that I'm really enjoying my lectures. Theres NO EXAM, let me repeat NO EXAM. I'm basically just graded for this really long essay on a worldview about life, values, cultures, beliefs, myths and perceptions. I'm watching Star Wars as well as interviews and holding long indepth discussions. Makes me feel like there is so much more to life really.

Last night as usual, we had the round of introduction with my usual bunch of classmates whom I'm so seasoned with but still fun to hear them talk about their lives. And I heard so many views about ethics, ethnics and religion that I am just overwhelmed to. . . silence ha..

Anw, following the rain and all. I have been craving for THIS.

Wellingtons or rain boots.

Tattoo print

Vintage cartoon print

And this is how you wear wellies on a rainy day.

Contrary to gladiator sandals which I guarantee you will go OUT OF FASHION once fall/winter season comes, I think the wellies are here to stay esp since Singapore is so tropical and all. Pretty in dresses, tights or skinnies. And really brightens up an outfit.

And I was online randomly going through pictures and designs, its was merely US$19 on average for a pair at Target etc...

Also, last night I was so inspired to share with Anais my VERY ORIGINAL idea of going to a picnic at the botanical gardens with her. You know, one of those things you do before summer is over apart from tanning. Then she told me that she thought of it before. Boo.. . I'm sure that many of you when mention a picnic will tell me that I want to go to East Coast or Timbaktu whatever. Nv thought of Botanical Gardens right. So original.

Yes more of those apples, scottish checkered grass mats, orange juice or maybe RED WINE, cakes, sandwiches in heart shapes, jellies and scones. Weeeee..

So I decided I will don a pretty sundress in bright flowery colors and go for a picnic soon. I think that's the one thing I desire so much apart from Malacca and tanning and going to the library and visiting the zoo and sleeping on the beach and gymming. Hahha..

Anw TODAY I found out that near my office, there is this OLD OLD dilapitated, rundown, dingy but old world charm shop that sells RATTAN picnic baskets and other stuff like furniture and boxes. Wooo.. I know there is another shop in Arab St that sells that, but it's oh so expensive lah. Dying trade you know for people to make things out of rattan.

Note to my readers : If you go to the botanical gardens in sundress, picnic basket and checks and post it on your blog BEFORE me and I read it, I will call you a loser I swear. Haha.. kidding. =)

It was Obar and Double O last night with the crew Sunny, Harith and Anais.

It was different this time around personally for me. In my years of clubbing, this was different. I used to do it in the past because I wanted the experience, not so much that I liked alcohol, in fact till this day I still feel nauseous when I smell tequila. I love the music for one but I dun love the people watchers there. Once upon a time, when I was insecure I thought seeking acceptance there must be a great idea. How foolish and childish.

But those days have gone... I think in fact there have long been gone. Yesterday with the crew, I din drink alot like I used to, but I did dance very comfortably in MY OWN ZONE, and not needing some wriggly asshole behind me. I went there with the sole purpose of catching up on the now r & b music in the night scene and I achieved that.

Reached home sober, happy because we took plenty of pictures, were not high, had self respect and plenty of love and fun. It was real good catching up with Sunny and Harith too. My two loves..

For a moment, it felt like Little India coz Sunny Bunny had a whole entourage of punjab friends and relatives in Obar. Haha.. but there were all nice and fun ppl.

I wun be doing this anytime soon again, since school is starting next week. But I do have plenty of other desires and activities lined up for my life this year. I've learnt to live for the present and enjoy the 'nows' in my life.

Despite 4 hours of slp, I feel good.
Really.

And seriously, what beats going for a facial after work and the day after a good clubbing session. Waha.

ANYWAY. . .

I am so freaking excited about my Melaka trip LAH. I went to forums, websites, downloaded maps and read so many reviews. My trip with Anais, Sammi and Tirene will be so awesome. It feels like I am going to Europe leh. I dunno why haha. I think its the company and the fact that the last time I travelled not including my trips to JB is exactly ONE YR AGO. Yes, one yr ago this time, I was in Sydney. Damn I miss it. I could leave forever there.

Let me show you all pictures.

The Hotel. Looks like a building in France. The kind you can sit at the sidewalk and drink hot chocolate every morning.

The ROOFTOP jacuzzi. So chio. Babes, rem your bikinis and leave your "aunties" behind. Pray hard.

THE VIEW from the rooftop jacuzzi

And the area map of our hotel. So near SO MANY locations.

The more I think of my trip the happier I am. I'm determined to make this a great success and a memorably sweet one for all of us especially as we celebrate our friendship, love and Tirene's bday.

More loved and blessed and favoured than I can ever imagine.

Photos up from Obar when I get them.
