bunnies

Yesterday  some neighbors invited us over to see their new bunnies.  Apparently the phrase "breeding like rabbits" has reason behind it.  This particular rabbit had a litter of bunnies two months ago, another litter a few weeks ago and is due to have more soon.  Holy cow!!

Anyway, the kids were in love and now want to go back to visit everyday.  Even better they want to have their own rabbit.  Miles even held one and he DOES NOT usually like to hold or touch animals.

Asia just about pulled off one of this one's ears.  Will, the neighbor boy, was so worried about it.  Needless to say, we kept Asia far away after that.

Topaz Mountain

Ben, Evan, Kamri, and Miles (Sara, Asia, and I had a baby shower and summer clothes shopping to do) took a trip down to Topaz Mountain with Dad's friend Brett and his family.  It was a day of hunting for topaz, motorcycle riding, playing in the dirt, and holding lizards.

Miles called this spot "his work" and kept asking Kamri if she wanted to go into his work.  So cute!

Book of Mormon party

I saw on a blog (I don't remember which one) the idea of a little celebration after finishing a book in the Book of Mormon as a family.  I saw this idea while we were in Jacob so that's where we started.  The lady had a fun activity to go along with the book after they finished it.  They went to Olive Garden after they finished Jacob (a.k.a the Parable of the Olive Tree) but that was a little steep for our budget and our patience.  So instead, we had "Olive Garden" at home.  I made lasagna and homemade breadsticks with a recipe for Olive Garden breadsticks.  Then we were going to go buy something to plant, prune, dung, and dig in our garden but the weather was not permitting so we'll have to do that part of it another time.

Amazing!!

This is awesome!  It was quiet in my house one afternoon and I was wondering where everyone was.  I knew Sara was in the corner reading and Miles and Kamri were just quietly playing in the front room but I didn't know where Evan was.  I found him like this....

reading on his own accord.  This is a big deal.  He does not like to read.  He is really good at it but just doesn't enjoy it.  It's hard for me sometimes because I love to read and try to make him like it too but it hasn't worked.  But I found a new place to get books and he loves them - Usborne books.  They have so many different kinds of books and activities about so many different topics.

He's more of a non-fiction reader and enjoys learning while he's reading so these are perfect for  him.  This book he's reading is "Look Inside Your Body" and all the fun facts he learns he loves.  I also got him a "Big Cats" (i.e. lions, tigers, cheetah, etc.) book and when he was sitting down to read it I kept hearing, " that is so cool", "that is awesome" and lots of other exclamations.  It was so nice to hear him enjoying them.
This is Sara also reading a book about birds from Usborne books.
Kamri soon sat down to join him.

I'm so happy when he is enjoying a good book.  He still runs around as much as he ever did, but now he knows he has books that he will enjoy when he wants to sit down for a bit.

Seven Months

Yet another month has gone by and our little honey is growing up too fast...

She's learning to sit by herself and doing so well.  She still topples over so I don't leave her to sit on her own, but she sits pretty straight.  And she is ROLLING!  She rolls all over the place.  This week I found her on her tummy in her sleep.
And sometimes she gets in a jam and can't get out.  We've found her under the table and stuck in the stools.  Funny girl!
