Christmas Day!!

8 Months 

Cannon continues to grow and amaze us. He is pretty good at getting from here to there by rolling and pivoting on his tummy (like a little penguin). Crawling really doesn't seem to interest him when rolling gets him where he wants to go. He does however, love standing. After being on the floor for a while, rolling and kicking, Cannon will let out frustrated squeals to let us know he's ready for something else. He can sit without support and is working on standing unsupported. He has some big ol' thighs to hold him up. I really am hoping he learns to crawl before walking, but I won't be surprised of he takes steps before he crawls.

Lil man is up to 5 teeth now with one more on the way (3 on top, 2 on bottom). We've started exploring finger foods and he likes squishy bananas. Besides that Cannon is still nursing and taking puréed foods like a champ! He likes everything he's tried except squash (we have to hide that one in his apples or peaches). His favorite is still freshly puréed peas.

We are trying to teach Cannon some basic sign language so he can communicate with use before he starts using words. We've been practicing signs for "food," "more," "milk," "water," "da-da," & "ma-ma." We are pretty sure he is starting to grasp the sign for "more" when we use it while he is eating. The sign is made by putting the tips of your fingers on each hand together then tapping left and right fingertips together (like kissing hands). But instead of making tapping motions Cannon will clasp his hands together and hold them in front of his face tightly, as if instead of politely tapping to saying "more please" he holds them in place to say "keep it coming and shovel it in FASTER!" Ha ha!

We are getting excited for our first Christmas with the 3 of us. Cannon is for sure getting spoiled by Mom & Dad. It's just too easy to shop for him. :)


We made a trip down to Utah in early December to meet our new little niece, Hadlee Mae. It was so fun to get together with family and welcome the newest little member. And Cannon enjoyed staying in a hotel and snuggling with Gram.
